Baldwin's Late Night Change of Heart

Click to return to TMZ.comJust a few hours before he blasted his daughter on her voice mail, Alec Baldwin had a few laughs at Ireland's expense on "Late Night with David Letterman."

After telling Dave that his 11-year-old was "doing great," Baldwin regaled the live audience with a story about Ireland's new affinity for dancing in public, then playfully mocked a few of her favorite moves.

When Dave asked if Ireland's new passion was embarrassing for him, Alec replied, "Hey, she could be out stealing cars." Funny he should mention that.

Shortly after the taping, Baldwin tried to call his daughter. We all know what happened next.

61. Hide any kid from this psycho. He is a bully and an abuser and capable of anything.

62. Baldwin is a violent out of control piece of crap. Keep him away from ALL children.

Posted at 8:41PM on Apr 20th 2007 by Baldwin has no self control is is dangerous

63. the most frightening part of his tirade is "I am going to straighten you out. You better be ready." the tone was chilling. What was driving him was his talk of how she shamed him! Clearly he shows all the earmarks of an abusive parent. That was a threat if I ever heard one. That poor girl!

64. I don't blame Ireland for not wanting to talk to him, now we know why. It does not matter the situation, you don't call the child's mother names or the child a "pig". He is an over the top abusive, angry man... has a history of it. Just because he is a left-wing Hollywood big shot, he does not get a pass on this.

Too many children are abused by fathers who are angry men, that is why the mothers left. Then the court forces these children to be in contact with their abuser! Children has rights and in this case Ireland should sue for emancipation from the real "pig" in this story.

66. Yes I agree- instead of celebrating the fact she is excited about something he berates her...oh yea I know he was trying to be funny, David Letterman and all, but a few hours later he showed his true colors!!! Pink, big snoot, curly tail. oink oink!! Hopefully Kim is more supportive than Alec and she will not choose a life of crime or drugs.

67. As anybody who has ever worked for a REAL production company in Beverly Hills will tell you this is the kind of power tripping nonsense you will see every day out of most producers. Normally the assistants and interns take the brunt of this crap but among the elite this is more than acceptable to tear apart anybody who isn't in a position to fight back. You should see what happens if Starbucks puts a little too much cream in a drink. I have had / seen stuff thrown at employees. Of course we got paid to stroke the pathetic morons egos, no wonder Hollywood kids get so messed up. Mr. Baldwin, if you are reading this please know that you are a pathetic man that nobody honestly gives a flying crap about. Oh sure they may act like they do but that's only because the phrase "You'll never work again in this Town" goes a long way. How does it feel to be on the brink of being washed up?

68. I have seen brats such as Ireland in the grocery store showing off their lousy dancing or cheerleading moves while their assinine parents stand by doing nothing while their horrid offspring annoy and cause potential injury to customers in the store! These idiots make me sick and Alec Baldwin is quite right to bring this brat down to reality. The kid could have leaked this tape herself but it was wrong of whomever leaked it and that person is the one in violation of the court order - not Alec Baldwin.

I am so sick of stupid parents who spoil their kids rotten and foist them on the rest of society with their obnoxious ways and rude manners and expect everyone to cater to their every whim!

69. I am on fathers side, apparently the mother is the problem.

70. Um... Alec, I wouldn't expect to break that record hosting Saturday Night Live 13 times.

Eric Nagler ("Sharon, Lois & Bram's Elephant Show", "Eric's World") was accused of child abuse (physical, not sexual) and his career never really has never recovered. Anyone know who Eric Nagler is?

Alec in FULL spin mode now!!! "I'm really NOT the monster you think I am!" Sure, Alec... sure.

71. COME ON PEOPLE. WHY ARE WE TALKING ABOUT THIS. DOES ANYBODY KNOW HOW MANY SOLDIERS WERE KILLED IN IRAQ,AFGANISTAN TODAY? HOW MANY WERE SERIOUSLY INJURED? HOW MANY DIED THIS MONTH ALREADY 80?????? COME ON

72. Hey, Hombre-

Ireland is Alec's only child. Give this poor guy a break; it's clear he goes out of his way to talk to a child he loves dearly. She could at least pick up the phone.

I have a 12-year-old daughter, too, and if she treated me the way Baldwin's daughter treats him, I'd be devastated.

73. I had 7 children of my own and I never spoke to either of them the way Alec Baldwin spoke to his daughter in that message. It was clear to me that the only thing he was concerned about was how "he" was humiliated or how "he" looked. There was not a single comment of concern for his daughter. What if something was wrong and she had been hurt and possibly laying in a hospital somewhere? What if it was bad enough that she didn't make it through? I really don't think I could live with myself if I knew those were the last words she may have heard. And even if she didn't hear them... I would always remember that was the last words I'd said to her or him.

No matter who it is... just think about how words and name calling cannot be taken back once they've been said. I don't care who the person is. As far as I'm concerned, I've always thought that Alec Baldwin was a self centered person with a temper that could explode at any given moment. I went through 2 marriages with men just like him and I finally learned how to pay attention to red flags... with him, you can see the red flags a mile away.

Let him have supervised visitation... I'd take off to parts unknown if I was forced to allow him to take her out of my sight. Behavior like that only gets worse. I learned the hard way and my children paid the highest price.

74. All of us seem to be speaking from our own personal experiences and it seems to me that none of us know what is really going on. If we were to take one of our own unfortunate "bad times" and have it exploited for the world to see we could all be made to look like monsters. Maybe we should take a step back and realize that this is a family dynamic that we have no understanding of as we would appreciate others to do for us.

75. Working at a school for emotionally disturbed children...we hear and see parents like you all the time. You might try anger management classes...keep on the way you are and they will be required! How could you possibly think of calling your child a pig...she is a child, you are the pig for using your authority to mentally abuse her. So she missed your phone call, deal with it. A million other single mothers or fathers do. That's what happens when there is a divorce. What did you expect she's 11, how old are you?
