Baldwin Rivets Audience on "View"

TMZ has confirmed Alec Baldwin pre-taped "The View" today for a Friday airing, and it was an emotional scene.

Someone present recounts that Baldwin "was very heartfelt, apologetic and emotional." We're told the audience applauded multiple times as Baldwin discussed the events surrounding the voice mail.

On the show, Baldwin indicated he is interested in being released from his "30 Rock" contract. Sources tell TMZ, however, that if NBC does not release him he will fulfill his contractual obligations. We don't know how long those obligations run.

"30 Rock" has been renewed for next season.

UPDATE: NBC has issued a statement to TMZ that says "Alec Baldwin remains an important part of '30 Rock.' We look forward to having him continue his role in the show."

76. I will NOT be watching "The View" on Friday. Alec Baldwin is trying to con everyone. He's an ABUSER........ to his ex-wife and to his daughter.

77. The only thing that Mr. Baldwin should "rivet" is his own hypocracy. He picks The View to set the record straight? That paragon of jounalistic integrity? Godammit man, why don't you do something pro-active about your situation? I always thought you were intelligent, a voice for those who are disempowered. Remember when you were on quality shows like Charlie Rose, talking about the reason you were a political activist is because you had the time and resources to speak for the people? You have really blown it, and are sliding precipitately into the nether zone of Alec-who. People are often critical of other's characteristics because they unconsciously recognize them in themselves; and they don't like it. Why not try sitting down with yourself and straightening your own ass out.

82. This nasty unapologetic child abuser should be prevented from seeing his daughter at all. He needs intensive anger management therapy. Come to think of it, all his co-workers, ex and daughter need to be protected from him. Probably the maid too. He needs in patient help. There is no excuse for verbally vomiting on his daughter! NOTHING can excuse this.

83. I have had numerous issues with abusive messages as well as conversations between my ex-husband and my children -- it causes so much stress and I am the one consoling the children. It's time people like Alec Baldwin are held accountable for their behavior and are told absolutely, positively, no-question --- that their behavior is WRONG!!!!!!!

86. I was the 1st to slam Baldwin for his voice mail, but the guy sounds like he's sorry....I hope he & his daugther can reconcile.

I WILL BOYCOTT "30 ROCK" IF IT CONTINUES *WITHOUT* BALDWIN.

I don't like the guy that much personally, but he's a great character actor. The show will be NOTHING without him...

88. ALEC! Don't stop fighting for a relationship for your daughter. I am 56, female, Paralegal (Associate of Science), 35 years in the legal field. Call Dr. Phil, if Kim doesn't want to participate, at least you might. I was divorced with a one year old...never frustrated my ex. Just not normal to do that, expecially with both of your work loads. A DAUGHTER NEEDS HER FATHER. Thank you.

89. Another thing -: I guess the should be put into perspective:

What Alec did was nothing compared to what Woody Allen did.

WOODY ALLEN MOLESTED HIS *OWN* DAUGHTER.

After I got over the shock of Alec's voice mail, I listened to it again & realized that his anger sounds like it's totally due to frustration. That doesn't excuse anger....but....he didn't do anything nearly as bad as creepy Woody Allen by sleeping with his underage daughter & then marrying her so he could sleep with her for the rest of his life. ::excuse me while I vomit::

Also, Alec didn't call her a "fat pig", he only said "pig". I know some people that are older that refer to others with barnyard animal names when they think they're acting rudely. I think it's an "older person" thing. Maybe Alec picked up the habit from his own parents??

He also didn't say that he was going to hit his daughter...just that he was going to straighten her out.

It was all said with a very abusive angry tone, but if you can forgive that due to his frustration, then you'll see the words aren't as bad as one might think after first hearing the tape.

90. #54 Stan. Many of us understand only too well what it's like to deal with a manipulative abuser.

You may not be one, but Basinger is not the only person claiming to have been abused by this man. His apologies, justifications and "spin" ring hollow with those of us who have been there, and had to protect our kids.
