Rapper Backs Off "Snitching" Comments

Cam'ronCam'ron is apologizing for his comments on Sunday's "60 Minutes," where he told Anderson Cooper that he wouldn't turn in a serial killer if he were living next door to one. Good thing he doesn't host a radio show.

As part of a story about snitching, Cam'ron said, "If I knew the serial killer was living next door to me? I wouldn't call and tell anybody on him -- but I'd probably move. But I'm not going to call and be like, 'The serial killer's in 4E.'" Word?

In a statement, Cam'ron tried to explain what he said, "Where I come from, once word gets out that you've cooperated with the police that only makes you a bigger target of criminal violence. That is a dark reality in so many neighborhoods like mine across America. I'm not saying it's right, but it's reality."

Cam'ron went on -- "Looking back now, I can see how those comments could be viewed as offensive, especially to those who have suffered their own personal tragedies or to those who put their lives on the line to protect our citizens from crime," the rap star said in a statement issued today. "Please understand that I was expressing my own personal frustration at my own personal circumstances. I in no way was intending to be malicious or harmful. I apologize deeply for this error in judgment."

61. Not reporting crime and criminals makes for a perfect world to the rappers and the black community? Why is it the minute the rappers make the big bucks the first stop is a jewelry store and the next place is to move to an upscale area with huge houses with enourmous security systems. This is cruel and unjust for neighbors to not help each other. These rappers and their messages are for losers who will continue to buy cd's, not speak english, and only want the downfall of their own community.

62. #82=karen walker
U should care! that is what is happening and how many innocent ppl are killed just because they are in the wrong place at the wrong time?

63. This is just a PRIME EXAMPLE of the ignorance in the hip hop environment. It's no wonder that in streets they live in, crime is at an all time high! Now you know why! And don't for second believe that they live in their old 'hood" anymore because most don't. It isn't because cops AREN'T around when you need them or will try and railroad the person who is giving up the name. It because they're NEVER CALLED when the crime is happening or someone knows who the criminal who committed the crime is or where he lives. I think this should once and for all, prove that these rappers like Snoop dog & ludaChris, are the REAL REASON many of the black kids today get killed and the crime is NEVER SOLVED! It is NOT the white man that did it or the police not caring. It is because of this stupid code of "ethics" that the street kids have to live by. Who cares if their neighborhoods are rampant with drugs and drug dealers and crime getting worse and worse. So long as they get to hear those stupid and sometimes excessively violent, rap lyrics, that's all that matters. Anyone who gets hurt, well...you should've ducked is what they'll probably say.

64. Hey Harold #89 I watched the interview on AC360, and he had a group of kids on there from a church group, everyone of these "innocents" supported this attitude. So if they don't care what happens to their own lives then don't expect me too. I care about the people who work hard to get somewhere in life and do good for their "hood". Part of being a good citizen, is turning in the a$$holes who go around and shoot innocent people! They want to be treated like decent citizens then act like one! These people are their own worst enemy.

66. If it was just one person, it wouldn't be a big deal. But it you had watched the interview, and you obvisly didn't, you would know that it has become a real problem in the "hood". Bustryms bodyguard is shot dead right in front of him and he saw nothing! FAT LOSER COWARD!

69. #25 is an idiot. I f you knew anything about history or sociology you would understand the development of the dynamics within the Black community. It didn't just happen that way, major events in history have shaped the that people live today. And if you had any common sense you would take Cam'ron with a grain of salt. He's an idiot and its stupid to think that he is in any way representative of an entire race of community.

72. Why is it that these celebrities when they give a comment they don't explained themselves correctly and later on they are oh I didn't mean to say that.

Come on are you that stupid that you don't hear yourself in what you are saying.

74. Cam'ron is just one of the thugs in America today. At one time thugs were steoreotyped as being minorities but today thugs are in all racial groups. They are becoming the new power class. They are actors, politicans, athletes and their role is to glamorize and glorify outlaw behavior. The behavior they promote at one time would have been and embarassment now they flaunt it i.e. getting busted for drugs, having multiple unlicensed assault weapons, drunk driving, sex videos, exposing their private parts with no underwear, giving a sexual partner a STD, shoplifting, murdering people (hope you know whom I talking about -three well know celebrities charged with murder), sex with children, exposing themselves in public, pulling weapons on children, calling their young minor child a pig and on and on. Cam'ron is living the life. He's talking about where he came from.
But I don't think he lives on the same block he used to. And the truth is I don't think Cam'ron was lying when he said he wouldn't turn in a serial killer. After all what's serial killer to him. Cause where Cam'ron comes from everything that happens to you is on you. Life with no responsiblity to your fellow man, that's what Cam'ron is all about.

75. Since celebrities like to help children/people in unfortunate situations in Africa and China, why don't they scope out the cities across America and help change the culture of people like this fellow so that they are released from their mental slavery. Send them to workshops like the Landmark Form, get them reeducated and integrated into society.

A project like that should be able to keep them in the news for a looong time.
