Jennifer Love Hewitt $ued by Former Manager

Jennifer Love HewittTMZ has obtained a lawsuit filed against sexy TV star Jennifer Love Hewitt. The suit, filed Friday in a Los Angeles County Superior Court, claims Hewitt owes her former management company for brokering the seven-year deal for her hit show "The Ghost Whisperer."

In court docs obtained by TMZ, Handprint Management alleges that J-Love breached her contract, and claims her career had been stalled prior to landing a role on the hit series. They say their work brought her "back to national prominence as a television star."

Jennifer cut ties with Handprint in March 2005, but the lawsuit claims that her big deal for "Ghost" was struck on their watch. Handprint also says Hewitt has refused to pay for the second season.

The suit is seeking a minimum of $350,000 in damages.

16. Shame, Shame, Shame.

Jennifer should remember that it is not a good thing to refuse to pay the dues. If she could get the roles herself why did she hire the managers. Managers have contacts with studios and perform very useful service. But after they do the work it is viciousness on ghe part of the managers to refuse to pay. The managers have to make a living. She should remember that she would need roles in the futue. No body would hire her if she does not fulfill her obligations. Pay up Jennifer. Pay up. Settle it with your managers. The managers have very reasonable fees like less than 10%. I'd not work for ten percent. That is why I have no stars to manage.

17. I don't like Ghost Whisper or Medium, but at least Patricia can act and her boobs aren't on display in every scene.

20. As to the comment about Jen looking like a wax figure, Jordanna Brewster has that same thing going on on some of her pics. Anyway, I'm on Jen's side all the way, she's a sweet girl and I love GW.

22. If they did get her the deal for that show--and all things point to that being the case-- then she owes them the cash. Her career was in the toilet and she was ( still is ) doing Hanes commerical. She hasn't had pop culture relevance in years before Ghost Whisperer. She owes them.

24. I am surprised she makes that much for it. $350,000 IS ( usually) a lot of money just in management fees ( 10%) for someone on a barely watched show. There are people on hit shows that only make $20,000-30,000 an ep ( 440-660k a year or so before management fees, taxes, etc) and have to fight, fake sick, etcc to even make a mil a year.

It's not like that's a big hit show. At the same time, if they managed to get her a TV deal big enough that she would owe $350,000- she should pay it because she is way overpaid; they got her a great deal.

26. I wish some of the Hewitt fans would be a little more in touch with reality. I because someone claims that Hewitt didn't pay them money, it doesn't make their claim baseless just because they fanatically admire their falling star.

It baffles me how Hewitt would believe that this management company isn't entitled to the $350,000 they're requesting. Able to sign Jennifer Love Hewitt to any contract involving her getting paid is like accomplishing the impossible. Whatever amount the management group is requesting certainly isn't worth all the work they needed to resort to for Hewitt's flat-lined career.

Hewitt signed a seven-year deal? Although it should be noted, the only actors or actresses that sign seven-year deals for television shows are desperate to be on screen. They throw away almost any chances for renegotiations if the show does better than they predicted.
Of course, that isn't the case with Hewitt's show.

Ghost Whisperer only made it to two seasons because it lucked out to land in a uncontested time slot on Friday night that ends up with an easy victory on the hour. Taking a larger look at the show's ratings, it ranks as CBS' lowest-rated dramas each week, topped even by Close to Home and Jehrico. Even as the producers try to maintain that Ghost Whisperer is a hit, viewership has dropped by nearly two million viewers from episodes of last season. Besides the fact is Hewitt's acting talent which mainly consists of her wearing cleavage-bearing shirts and dresses, there's little interest in this Medium rip off starring Boobzila.

It's understandable why the management group has decided to file suit now. Since logic would suggest that Breast.... Ghost Whisperer is getting cancelled, they want to get their money before Hewitt runs broke. After which point, the only time Hewitt will get to work with a camera will be when she'll be working in the photo department at Sears or Walmart.

27. It shows that if she paid for a full year she needs to learn to HONOR her commitment to the person who did the deal at the start. you can't just walk away and think you don't have to pay...its called a bill ! PAY IT IN FULL like the rest of America! i.e car payments, credit cards..nice just thinking, hey I paid for a year and now I'm not in the mood! Biz is biz...you owe pretty girl! pay up and lawyer fees! go get them Handprint!

28. Before passing judgement on Jennifer Love Hewitt, perhaps we should wait and see what the execs at the studio say. They will be able to vouche for who really did the negotiations for her contract.

If this management group is trying to simply get a piece of a pie that they neglected to do their jobs and secure, then they would not be entitled to 350 thousand dollars.

If they negotiated the contract and she is just not paying then I can see why they would file suit.

But it sounds to me that handprint management are a huge group of incompetent bullies! Using a lawsuit and TMZ to smear Hewitt's name and bully her into handing over money that they didn't negotiate for her.

More people trying to use the media to milk money from those that earn it!

29. Looks like Handprint Management is on this board and posting hurtful things about Hewitt!

"David Manning"... is a very well known FICTITIOUS FILM CRITIC!

Please stop trying to sound professional and actually be a croney of Handprint Management! How pathetic!!!!!!!

30. I really enjoy GW and I agree that it would be A LOT more interesting if we had some kind of comment from JLH's side. I'm hardly going to read such a short blurb, with such a minimal of information, and then come online and judge JLW or dis her!

DO UNDO OTHERS . . . .

TMZ -- how about getting a comment from Jen???
