Are Katie Cassidy and Jesse McCartney Engaged?

Katie and Jesse, both 20, are rumored to be engaged -- this according to "The Hills" star, Lauren Conrad.

On a bulletin posted by LC on MySpace, Katie, Jesse, Whitney, Audrina and Lauren met for dinner, "Then he got down and asked her. It was so sweet! Everyone was clapping afterwards."

After dinner, the happy bunch made their way out to club Mood to celebrate -- the same club where just last year TMZ obtained a photo of an underage Jesse McCartney drinking a Corona! That photo launched an investigation of Mood. (No one under twenty-one is allowed in Mood unless it's a sponsored event.)

TMZ contacted Jesse's rep for a comment on the engagement rumor and was told, "No, not engaged."

Maybe Lauren, best friend of Katie, was just hopeful?

35. too bad almost everyone knows of Jesse McCartney and if you say you don't then you're just lieing to make yourself look bad ass. Obviously they aren't engaged, if they were I'm sure Lauren wouldn't announce it to the world, and honestly Katie & Lauren can't be that good of friends if you've never seen pictures of them together. Everyone has seen the hills, you know exactly who Lauren, Audrina, and Whitney are and like I said before, if you pretend you don't have any clue as to who they are, you're just trying to make yourself look bad ass.

39. Jesus who cares!! First off, this relationship was created for media purposes, so was the one with Raposo. Pairing two new celebrities is the oldest trick in the Hollywood PR book. As far as Lauren 'leaking' a possible engagement, that was just a joke to stir the pot.

43. It is possible that the news or description of the entire engagement process was false- written and posted on a fake LC myspace.
Although, there are too many rumours and stories alike this that have been created by the Paparazzi that it's easy to just believe it was a conjured fantasy of alot of people (possibly those who support the pairing- it's eye catching and eye popping news even if you don't care since you know who they are).
Some people really don't know who Lauren and 'the hills' is, but it can be safe to say that the majority do, so CHILL; if you don't know them then you could care less, if you do then maybe you'd care more?
lol.
The idea of this entire story could have been sparked because there are just too many notions about them getting engagement or staying as a couple, or truly from a fake myspace site. The real Lauren Conrad might actually have a myspace though . . .
but it can be taken as highly unlikely that she would risk denial of this by telling the press before either Katie or Jesse did.
Isn't it more obvious that Jesse or Katie would tell first? and if they were all really best friends while no one else mentioned the same story, that they'd all keep it low profile for the sake and benefit of each other's reputation? (quoting something completely cilche or typical of the show, 'the hills' or any 'friendship').

But as someone, i truly do agree/ think that Katie isn't hot or as hot as some of the other 'teen' celebrities . . .
Plus it's quite normal that she'd get "burned" for being J-Mac's girl.
