"Gilmore" -- Goodbye Girls

Alexis Bledel & Lauren GrahamSay goodbye to Stars Hollow -- "Gilmore Girls" is officially over. Get out your kleenex.

In a statement to TMZ, the CW and Warner Bros. Television says it is "a truly sad moment for everyone" and promises to "give this series the send-off it deserves."

Sources tell TMZ that there were ongoing negotiations with the suits and the actresses in an effort to bring the show back for another season, but they were unable to seal the deal.

62. I'm glad to see it end, things were getting a little ridiculous considering these women are supposed to be "growing up". I'm glad I stuck with it too, been watching since the beginning.

63. So sad, my 15yr old daughter and I love this show. It is the one show that we both sit down and watch together, if one of us misses it the other is waiting at home to fill her in on what happened. I can honestly say we bond over this show. I love Lorelai and Rory's characters and all the other quirky characters on the show. It is a real gem and we will miss it greatly!

64. GG was the only show I looked forward to watching during the week--the bond between mother and daughter, the banter, the comfort of a small-town on the small screen---it was a feel-good show. It did change with the new writers but like true fans of anything, you hang in and watch to see if it'll get better. Unfortunately, that didn't happen and with all shows the end must come and it's time to say goodbye to the GG. Hope the last show is as good as the earlier shows so the true fans are left with the feeling that we knew why we stuck with the show for 7 years.

65. Despite the decline in the quality of the writing, this show remained one of my favorites. It was an eat-popcorn-in-your-most-comfy-jammies kind of show. A small town with quirky characters makes us city-types yearn for the magic of Stars Hollow. The intergenerational stories were perfect for family viewing and bonding. The stories often put the characters in emotional situations that were diffused with humor and love. I own five seasons worth of DVDs and I will share them with my grandchildren some day. Thank you to everyone involved with this wonderful show. I can only hope another GG-type show will come along...

66. I'm so bummed. My whole family watched it. Every episode. I was so hoping they'd have another season dedicated to a Luke and Lorelei reunion and a Logan/Rory wedding, move to CA....how Rory and Lorelei would deal being on opposite coasts. There's so much more life in these characters.
Love the entire cast.

67. I am so going to miss this show - but since reading some of the "spoilers," I hope that now that they know they won't be back for another season, they at least change the next two shows. The way they're written now, there is definitely no good ending for anyone. I want to see Rory accept Logan's proposal, and not wind up in limbo regarding relationships like her mother has done all her life. As some of you have stated, there are just so many loose ends that really need to be tied up - very sad indeed.

68. OMG i love this show but it's just been really sucky ever since the original creators left ...how can they just wrap everything up in a few episodes?I'm gonna miss their witty comebacks and sarcasm and funny punchlines that seem to make everything feel better for the moment. But it's for the better not like the characters in it seemed too happy.I'll miss the show! ; - (

70. Sorry to see it go. Have enjoyed it for 5 of the 7 years it was on. The last two years, the writing was not up to what it should be

71. I loved this show!!! In it's heyday the dialogue just couldn't be beat!! I will miss Emily and Richard, Rory and Lorelai and Sookie and Jackson, Michel and Paris soooo much!! I wanted to LIVE in Stars Hollow!! Oh well maybe Amy can come up with something just as fun!!

72. I only started watching the show (with my wife, a fan) in the past two to three years, so I don't have the perspective of longtime fans. I'll take their word for it that it's not as good as it used to be, but I still found it enjoyable for a chick show. Make no mistake: that's what it is. Women on the show are portrayed as incredibly brilliant and independent; men are portrayed as dumb, goofy, and/or irresponsible. The only man who actually comes off as looking good (Luke) looks that way because he realizes he's just a lowly dumbass frycook who's not worthy of the impossibly witty Loralei, the impossibly smart Rory, and even his impossibly brainy daughter. Christopher is a douche, Kirk is a disaster, and the mayor is a bumbling idiot. Oh, and there are few people who need a good punch in the genitals more than Logan.

Having said that, I still found the show enjoyable, and am disappointed that they won't be able to wrap it up appropriately. There are just too many loose ends for two episodes, and I'm pretty sure Logan won't get punched in the wang. Alas!

73. My Gosh,

I tried to watch the show in lieu of the news but the dialog was all in incredibly fast woman gibber jabber. I couldn't understand a word of it. But my sister said the episode rocked. Something about women demanding everything of the world with female problems thrown in.

This is horrible. I love this show. I think it got better this season. They all do a fantastic job. I WANT IT BACK!!!!! What can we do?????

75. PIMP -- You are so right!! I love the GG and I never looked at it that way. I just read your post to my fiance and we both agree with you totally. Oh, and you can't forget Jackson or Doyle. Talk about idiots. The only strong men we can think of are Richard, who could be kind of naive at times and the headmaster at Chilton.
