Taylor Hicks' Career Goes Idle

What a difference a year makes!

Just one year after being crowned "American Idol" in the usual media frenzy, Taylor Hicks performed at The Grove in Anaheim last night -- to little or no hoopla. Taylor who?

While paparazzi and fans staked out the nearby House of Blues to catch Britney's wigged-out mime-a-palooza, TMZ was the lone camera documenting the noticeably tamer crowd at the Hicks show. The Soul Patrol has left the building.

As America nears coronation of a new "Idol," Melinda Doolittle and Jordin Sparks should take heed: Sometimes when you win, you actually lose. Just ask Ruben Studdard.

16. Something about Hicks ........something that doesn't shout *star* or idol.

17. Will Chris Daughtry fans ever get over the fact that he LOST and the cd sales on this one are great but he better enjoy them or step up his game. How many Nickleback's can there be. When they play IT's not Over on the radio now I hear people say PLEEEEEse let it be over. It is not Taylor, Katherine or Elliott's fault Chris came in FOURTH so Chris fan's stop blaming them and blame yourselves, you let Chris down not the other three contestents.

18. Funny how he is the least famous of last year's bunch. Bucky even has an album out now.

19. Hey Daughtry fans - get a life! Your constant obsessing over Taylor is getting tiresome. By the way, Taylor didn't boot Chris to the curb. Kat did, and then Elliott.

20. I think Taylor Hicks was the right person to win last year, it's too bad the American Idol has chosen not to promote him as much as one of the losers.

I saw him in concert and the crowd was far from mellow. He set the crowd on fire and had enough energy to light up NYC. I'm glad he doesn't just stand there and sing like some other musicians, that would put me to sleep.

21. I want to know who you work for, I'm going to try to get you fired. Anyone that thinks that Ruben 's career has failed doesn't need a job on this website. So, I'm going to find out and try to get your job taken away from you and get someone that might have a grain of sense.

22. It's so sad when someone just posts something and does not even check it out. Ruben has a gold album, grammy nod, and he new album is just about gold. Two cuts from the album have been in the top ten since October 2006. Why don't you do some research, you do read don't you?

23. guess it depends on how you define success. cd sales. touring. longevity. it's all relative. big cd sales? hair today- bald tomorrow? as for touring...hands down...it's taylor by a mile. he is putting on phenomenal live shows across the country. anaheim may have had a more sedate audience, but from jacksonville to nola to chicago, he has brought people to their feet, and then knocked them right off of them.
not worth the pettiness to decry who won/lost/should have won. like an artist. buy their cd. catch them on tour. hands down though, if you want to see one of the best live performers out there. that would be taylor. am very curious as to whether the tmz staffer who "observed" the anaheim show actually attended it, or simply observed more camera action following that poor unfortunate train wreck named britney.

24. On Ruben Studdard being forgotten, that's just not true. I don't know if you've looked at Billboard, but he has two songs from his second album that have been number 1 and in the top ten since October 2006 when the album came out. So, why don't quit dreaming about Gayken and be more informed. Ruben 's first album was gold and he second nearly is. I don't call that a failure at all. Plus he does charity work, he is such a good person to be trashed by some meathead like you.

25. LIfe's too short, money's too precious to spend on Taylor Hicks. He has a terrible voice, all gravely and soft. Loser.

27. 10 years from now HIcks will still be touring, singing his soulful blues. Daughtry's days as a rocker will be long over.

29. The guy was a complete idiot! The tweens and weird adult females voted for this loser!

30. Taylor is the worst idol winner yet. He lags behind in sales of all other idol winners and appears to have some sort of disorder when he sings and dances.

But not to worry it will end soon enough and we will be able to get is CD it the 99 cent box at the local walmart soon!
