Taylor Hicks' Career Goes Idle

What a difference a year makes!

Just one year after being crowned "American Idol" in the usual media frenzy, Taylor Hicks performed at The Grove in Anaheim last night -- to little or no hoopla. Taylor who?

While paparazzi and fans staked out the nearby House of Blues to catch Britney's wigged-out mime-a-palooza, TMZ was the lone camera documenting the noticeably tamer crowd at the Hicks show. The Soul Patrol has left the building.

As America nears coronation of a new "Idol," Melinda Doolittle and Jordin Sparks should take heed: Sometimes when you win, you actually lose. Just ask Ruben Studdard.

421. I think you should keep your cameras on Taylor Hicks because he is here for the long haul. Have you even see one of entire concerts? I have been to two of them and trust me he is the most amazing performer, in addition to being a great person. You are to quick to put people down but you follow Paris Hilton around constantly and what can she do?
Taylor Hicks is fantastic and millions will tell you so.

422. AP * TAYLOR HICKS COMES OUT! As he hinted at a few months ago, Taylor Hicks has finally added "Dancing Queen" to his stage shows to show that he is finally coming out of the closet and will embrace his gay identity as much as possible, given the mindsets of his (mostly) female heterosexual fans. Taylor always called himself a "dancing queen" back in his barroom days, and his friends knew what he meant and they loved it. Now he is giving his fans the option of embracing his true self, or following their biases out the door with a swift kick from his cowboy-booted foot. What they will choose remains to be seen. It should be a very interesting summer!

423. Whether a person is gay or not has nothing to do with his singing, dancing and entertaining skills -- which Taylor is not gay by any means. Taylor's concert is by far the most exciting that I've ever been to, and he is on his way to future stardome and will be entertaining his fans for many years to come.

424. #422 I'm sorry - I was joking.

Actually, Taylor's concert in Seattle was by far the best concert I've ever been to in my whole life. I loved it.

425. You nut jobs are still at it. Funny the Seatle Review said the show stunk. What are you people on that makes you unable to face reality?

Oh and Daughtry is bringing in 40,000, 70,000 and 40,000 at his last few shows. Taylor can not sell out a 2200 venue. HAHAHAA Oh and Taylor stunk on Leno. What a joke Taylor is is.

GIVE UP ALL Ready. You have 1 week left before Taylor fades into the past as the worst lowest selling Idol ever.

You all better start praying Taylor sounds better than he has in his last few TV performances.

426. It would be nice if the fans of PWE would simply enjoy their favorite and leave the SP alone. It doesn't matter to us what you all think. We love Taylor and there is nothing you can say that will change that. N*O*T*H*I*N*G!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's pathetic at the lengths you all are going to stalking several of the SP. Your insane behavior will not have the effect you all desire. I have read other message boards with other fan groups and let's just say that DAUGHTRY fans are earning a horrible reputation of being bullies. It's not just the SP they are bullies towards.

He's also going to be on Carson Daly tonight.

He's hardly idle.

How's Britney's new tour going again?

428. You Daughtry fans are a bunch of a**hole losers. Why don't you all get a life? You spend your life trying to think of ways to belittle Taylor, who is miles above your one-note wonder.

432. A perfect day to see the stars at Charity Classic
Twice the crowd for Hicks, Saban, Tuberville, others
Friday, May 18, 2007
RAY MELICK
News staff writer

By noon, Gene Hallman knew this wasn't going to be just another day at the golf course.

"We had already parked more cars than we did all day Thursday last year," said Hallman, executive director of the Regions Charity Classic.

When it was over, an estimated crowd of 16,750 showed up at Ross Bridge on a picture-perfect day for the Regions Charity Classic Charter Telephone Pro-Am to see any number of American idols - including the current American Idol, Birmingham native Taylor Hicks.

It was hard to tell who most fans came to see. From 8 a.m., when a group including Bo Jackson, Stan White and Cornelius Bennett made its way to the first tee, until about 12:30 when Hicks' group teed off, it was standing room only with people packed five and six deep along most of the first fairway.

In between was a group that included a head-to-head match between Auburn head coach Tommy Tuberville and South Carolina coach Steve Spurrier (won by Spurrier), followed by a fivesome that included new Alabama football coach Nick Saban.

"He's shorter than I thought," seemed to be the general reaction from fans getting their first close-up look at college football's $4 million man.

According to Hicks, who pulled a harmonica out of his pocket and played a quick tune after his thunderous first tee reception, hitting that first shot of the day was more nerve-wracking than his next big gig, appearing on the season finale of "American Idol" Tuesday.

"That No. 1 tee shot is tough," Hicks said. "That's a lot more pressure than going back to the `American Idol' stage."

For the record, Hicks' first shot was a beauty, right down the middle and just short of the tee shot hit by touring pro Jay Haas......

...............

But it was Hicks who seemed to have the most fun, finding himself featured in a tournament that he'd had to sneak in to watch just two years ago.

"The thing about being inside the ropes is to try to make a positive impact on people," he said. "I got that chance when I gave my harmonica to a child out there with cancer. I signed it and gave it to him, and he asked me what it was. I told him to blow into it, and when he did, you should have seen his eyes light up.

"Who knows what that could lead to? But that's when you realize the impact you can have on people."

433. Don't count Taylor out yet! He is a great musician, and also a very smart man. He knows what he is doing. I have to wonder about some of you people out there---do you hate EVERYONE, or only gay people, Taylor HIcks, Soul Patrolers', Taylor's fans, pretty much the WHOLE world except for Chris Daughtery. I am a Soul Patroler who adores Taylor, but I don't hate gays, Taylor, Chris Daughtery fans, etc. In fact, I am going to a concert next Sat. in Las Vegas where his band opens for Bon Jovi. Of course, it is simply a FACT, that I would much rather see Taylor, but I can't afford to fly back east for any of his upcoming concerts. Have you considered medication or perhaps anger management classes?? Taylor forever! Go Soul Patrol!!

434. #433, You are the perfect example of why the SP are known as being such a delusional fanbase. Your post really made me laugh. You spent all that time writing out a long post that's trying to prove to yourself, and others that Taylor's not a failure, but guess what? No matter what you say or do, the facts still remain. Taylor is and always will be remembered as the lowest selling AI winner in the history of the show. Even AI is embarrssed by him. That's why they do all they can to avoid mentioning him, but talk about their "real success stories" instead. They don't want to talk about a loser that may have had millions of votes, but didn't even have enough fans to keep his CD on the charts for longer than a few months. Daughtry will always be the one that everyone thinks of when Season 5 is mentioned. It's almost like Taylor never even existed. I'm sure most people have already forgotten that he does. "Taylor Who?"

435. Can't you read? That post has been posted before. There have been several that have repeated for some reason.

Why are you all so obsessed with Taylor and his fans? We don't care about fauxtry or his fans.

We don't care if Taylor doesn't stay on top of all the current charts because most of the current music sucks. We do care that Taylor is able to make his music his way and continue touring where we all can enjoy him.

Maybe your time would be better spent power clicking on Chris' myspace and making your sick children power vote over at vh1. Talk about pathetic, instead of taking care of your sick children home from school you make them power vote for a stupid video to be number one. Poor Chris, he deserves better fans.
