Taylor Hicks' Career Goes Idle

What a difference a year makes!

Just one year after being crowned "American Idol" in the usual media frenzy, Taylor Hicks performed at The Grove in Anaheim last night -- to little or no hoopla. Taylor who?

While paparazzi and fans staked out the nearby House of Blues to catch Britney's wigged-out mime-a-palooza, TMZ was the lone camera documenting the noticeably tamer crowd at the Hicks show. The Soul Patrol has left the building.

As America nears coronation of a new "Idol," Melinda Doolittle and Jordin Sparks should take heed: Sometimes when you win, you actually lose. Just ask Ruben Studdard.

61. When is the American public going to get wise to this form of yellow journalism? Most everything that is posted here or in the tabloid papers is 99% not true.

Someone in a mad mood they rush to their computer, type an email or post an answer to some trash column like this one and SEND!!! Who really cares who these loosers are that post such crap!...found this by mistake. Crawl back in your negative holes and stay there.

Ive seen Taylor Hicks in 2 concerts and he is a great performer and entertainer and singer. Chris is the same old rock and roll...Britney will be back on TOP and make fools of you all!!! I can hardly wait!!!

62. GEEZ All the Paparazzi and teenie bobbers were staked out for Brittney. GOOD, Because all the adults were at the Taylor Hicks concert. The teeney bobbers got a 15 minute lip-sync concert and Taylor's fans got and hour and a half of of full out vocals with a kick ass band.

63. Taylor Hicks is wonderful...he gave my family and I so much joy to watch AI last year and see him perform...he appealed to all ages and stages...from my 5 year old grandson to my husband and I who have been married 42 years...and my daughter and her husband are in their early 30's..so please don't knock him...he is an entertainer...maybe not Chris or Katherine...but nevertheless beloved by millions of people who love his shows...jeb

64. Have fun feeling the wrath of Taylor fan, who not only post on disagreeable articles about Taylor, but also post on positive ones about Chris and Katharine saying they suck and have no talent.

66. I've seen Taylor 4 times now and every venue was SOLD OUT! I was in the front row at the Beacon Theatre in NYC and the entire place stood for the whole concert! Chirs is fine but Wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy over played! Idol dissed Taylor because he went on his own and didn't sign their precious binding contract! GOOD FOR YOU TAYLOR!

67. THE public has American Idol Burnout one gets tired of all this hoopla
and after seeing them on TV why would anybody spent money again
to go and see them and pay for their records. turn on the radio and you get the
same thing. Nice boy, very charming but none of these stars makes me want to spend any money on them. I refuse to pay for them laughing all the way to the bank.
sorry , limelight people.

68. Well, I see some of the usual stalkers are here throwing other names into the conversation.
You make me laugh.

Now, for the facts. Neither Daughtry nor Hicks are playing in large venues. They are playing theaters and clubs for the most part. For Hicks, that is ideal. His show wouldn't play well in a large venue. His fans are happy with that. Hicks has not sold platinum, but has shipped platinum. I imagine both Daughtry and Hicks will hold onto their fans and continue to have success. Not every singer needs to be a superstar to have a decent career. I'm not a fan of either of these men, but I don't think it's necessary to tear them down.

I'll tell TMZ one thing. While I'm not a HIcks fan, I'd much rather attend his show than watch the 12 minute lip-syncing strip show that Britney put on last night. If anyone should be "idle", it's Britney.

69. “Earth to TMZ.com”, Dude, were you there? I had second row seats and the rush of humanity towards the stage once the show started was a little unnerving. I had children under the age 10, hottie girls with racks that proclaimed that- "I might be easy, but I ain't cheap", and even hunky male decorator-types that sighed at movement Mr. Hicks made across the stage.

Again, and again during the evening we requested that security move the excited crowd back. After the show there were over 60 people lined up along the fence hoping that their blue-eyed soulman would favor them with an autograph and picture before he boarded his bus. He did not disappoint, making a quick trip through the crowd. For this I was glad, because the group of Soul Patrollers were not going to go home without seeing their guy one more time.

72. Wow Taylor Hicks is far from idle, to see that man perform is to know the reason he won American idol. The man is amazing..live performances can be outdone by none. he's made alot of TV appearances. He will be around touring for a long time.
Now i see alot of Chris should have won..LOL He didn't win because he cannot perform live. Now let's see...On the big album, it's not even his band, on his videos, not his band...it is a studio band. Taylor plays beautiful classy venues with 2000 to 3000 each. Chris play hole in the wall bars with more bouncers on hand than fans...LOL Daughtry..fake band. Why did they go to all that trouble with that fake free concert for HOME....yeah it was free in his home town and they used the video but not the audio..why? because they cannot reproduce what is on the album live. He sucks without the studio stuff that makes him sound better. They should have had a show like "making the band" or "D-town" This so called band was put together by Clive and Chris is his little monkey puppet. And the album cover..all the "band members" blurred out and Chris way in the front trying to appear taller. So silly. Now he is going to be the opening act for Nickelback? Where is the huge stadium "solo" tour..hahahaha yeah it is all a big FAKE and everyone went for it...

73.
Taylor is doing very well for your information! He is touring, and I've not read anything but positive reviews, except for this one. I am sick of reading Taylor is a flop. but Daughtry is so hot....We'll see who stays strong as time goes by. Slow and steady wins the race. Taylor will be fine....no one can stay at the top forever, Taylor is so much more than a one hit wonder. I think Taylor is smart enough to understand he doesn't need to be a ROCK star to make his mark in the world of music.

74. Please quit the Taylor/Elvis comparisons. Elvis was electrifying, great looking and could sing like no other. Taylor is on the homely side, has no personality, and CAN"T sing. Period.

His tour is far from sold out, and it's the same fans going to each city. I heard his management team has been handing free tickets out to people just to "stuff the house" for each venue. His music gets NO radio play because it is AWFUL, no one in their right mind wants to listen to it! By this year next time, he will be back in Alabama playing the bars if he's lucky.

75. Hi Anne! I read your comment #61. Thanks for Stoppin By. Can't say as I agree with you, but I'm a softee and wish all the idols the best!
