Victim's Husband Sues Brandy Over Fatal Crash

BrandyTMZ has obtained a lawsuit filed by the husband of the woman killed in a car crash involving former "America's Got Talent" judge Brandy Norwood. It's the second lawsuit the singer is facing regarding the accident.

In the documents, filed today in Los Angeles County Superior Court, Marquane Hdidou claims that Brandy and another motorist named Mallory Ham were "recklessly and carelessly ... traveling too fast for conditions and "following too closely" on the 405 Freeway, which factored into the collision that killed his wife, Awatef Aboudihaj on December 30.

As a result of his wife's death, Hdidou claims in the lawsuit that he has, "forever been deprived the support and maintenance, services, guidance, companionship, comfort, affection, solace, moral support, society, care, love, consortium and other benefits" from his wife.

Hdidou is suing for an undisclosed amount of financial relief to cover medical and funeral expenses, as well as legal costs and other damages.

Brandy is also facing a $50 million lawsuit filed by the victim's parents.

Reps for Brandy had no comment.

16. The law suit the parents filed should be null and void. Yes they lost thier daughter but her income and future earnings were not their source of existing.

17. This is a sad story all around. Nothing can be done to bring that woman back to her family. This was not intentional, but it was a very unfortunate accident. First the woman's parents sued Brandy, then the minor children's lawyer bought a suit against her, now the husband is suing her.

No one will be satisfied no matter how much is paid out from the insurance companies. Life insurance is to provide for your loved ones when you pass on. Term life policies exist in case you pass on before your dependents are old enough to care for themselves. Either this family lacked the proper life insurance to take care of those left behind or they are trying to use money as a way to assuage their grief. Either way, with everyone suing Brandy, it will only tie up her ability to make financial restitution for this tragic accident.

18. Its sad, and it probably was an accident (haven't looked at the report)... But if they sued her for funeral expenses, medical expenses stuff like that, it wouldn't matter because she's got enough money that it would (and probably will) be something she'll just pay and move on with her life and probably forget. Hitting people in the wallet for carelessness will make them remember, but if I were in that situation no amount of money would make up for losing my husband... But regardless of who it was I'd want them to remember their mistake cost someone their life, and leaves families without children, parents, spouses, etc. Its just sad that it was an accident but people are making the family out to be bad guys when they lost someone forever, and making Brandy out to be the victim simply because she is a celebrity (and criticizing the family for going after her because she's a celebrity.. double standards ftl). Money can be earned back. But as someone else said, no one is a winner in this case.

20. he needs to suck this shit up and move on with is life. getting 50 mill from this isnt going to bring their daughter or wife back so why try to take someones money. your not hurting that person by taking thier money any way. brandy still probrably has much saved royalties and money from the albums she has made and still making money. soo if you sue what is it going to do? not a damn thing...

21. It wouldn't matter to me if a rich person or a poor person killed my spouse. I'd sue them and make their lives miserable. Sure, Brandy didn't mean to kill anybody, but everybody knows what irresponsible driving can lead to.

That woman was a mother as well. Brandy needs to own up. I feel badly for that woman's family.

23. The police report said that her breath smelled of Bannanas

Now if thats true then I think it is a pretty cut and dry case..

24. Maybe she had a banana smoothie for lunch? Or ate an actual banana? At any rate, please provide link to police report - I didn't read anything about bananas in the report I saw.

25. No amount of money will bring this women back. Her parents filing suit is insane. This women was a wife and mother. She was not supporting them in life, and should not support them with her death. If Brandy wasn't famous, they would only get the amount she was insured for. This was an accident. Brandy will have to live with this the rest of her life. I feel for this family, but would this make the women who died proud to know that her family is putting a price on her life? Enough! Take the max her insurance is for, and start to heal.

26. brandy probally was talking in her cell, not eating meat, and she caused a man to lose his wife. the husband has every right to sue her!

Posted at 5:14PM on May 3rd 2007 by BRANDYISAMURDERER

27. Why arent they suing her insurance company?

28. Okay for all of you yelling about Brandy being sued she most certainly should be sued. WHY because for one she was not drinking and driving she has no excuse for driving the way she was and causing someone's death. The sad fact is if you are sober and kill someone with your car it is ruled and accident even when the sober one who kills someone breaks the law. They get to go on with there life not being held accountable, while the family of the victim is left to deal with the mess. Look people during my life I have personally been involved in 2 situations where 1 person close to me lost his life in a car accident and a family member was killed. IN BOTH situations the people who are should have prevented both of these people from being killed can not be held criminally at fault. And until you loose someone like this you will never know it is not about the money period it about holding them accountable the ONLY way you can with out criminally charging them.

I had a friend killed because some idiot was breaking 2 law was doing 75mph in a 55mph zone and blew a stop sign and flew into traffic. He hit my friends work truck so hard words can not describe the damage. But all the guy got was a traffic ticket no jail time nothing he walked away from the accident with no a scratch on him completely sober. While he killed a young father of 3 who just had a 3 month old baby at home. His widow could not file criminal charges against him and in the state I live in she got some benefits not alot, but because she got some benefits if she would have sued the man who killed her husband she would loose all her benfits.

Tell me is that right he was completely sober and knew what he was doing was wrong and yet he killed a man and will never see jail time because it was just an accident. That was not just and accident, just like Brandy sorry it was not just and accident she was sober and knew what she was doing and still killed someone. Why is it a crime to kill someone driving if you have any alcholo in you but it is not a crime if you kill them sober and still breaking laws.

29. Bet the person who is sueing Brandy has O'Quinn, Vergie Auther's slizzy lawyer! Brandy was in an accident, plain and simple. She wasn't a Paris Hilton out there who doesn't give a damn who she might kill! If it was Brandy that had been killed her family would only get what was due from the insurance and nothing more.

30. This was an accident and the amount being asked for is excessive. The husband's attorney must be going balls-to-the wall because Brandy is a celebrity. This just isn't right. Hopefully the judge and/or jury assigned to this case will have the common sense to see through this attempt at extortion.
