48. I happen to be the wife of an attorney who has handled a few cases where there has been vehicular manslaughter involved, and yes, "normal" people are sued for millions of dollars. The litagants know full well that they will not recieve 50 million dollars. It is the judgement that matters!! For all those people saying that all they want is money NO THEY DON"T!!
It is the same thing as when they give someone 100+ yes in prison or 23 consecutive life sentinces. There's no way in hell that they can serve that time. It's the principle that matters!!!
Did any of you stop to think that a single ambulance ride can EASILY cost upwards of $200,000 depending on what treatment you recieve while in transit. They charge for every peice of gauze, hose, syringe, medicine, drugs, face mask, tube, scalpel, IV & IV bag right down to the plastic gloves and sheets they use. (If you are life flighted times by 3)THEN depending on what happens at the hospitol you can be charged anywhere from 200,000 to 7 million. Funerals cost at the VERY LEAST $5,000.(Death in America is not cheap!!) PLUS pain and suffering, personal accountbility, loss of income if any. SO LETS TALLY IT UP FOLKS!!

350,000 (AMBULANCE SERVICES)
3,000,000 (HOSPITOL CARE)
7,000(NICE FUNERAL)
1,000 (BURIAL PLOT OR CREAMATION)

5,000,000 (PAIN AND SUFFERING[LOW ESTIMATE])
50,000 (FOR THE CHILDREN)

50 MIL PROVES A POINT!!! RECKLESS BEHAVIOUR CAUSES DEATH. Brandy will never spend time in jail, he will never see his wife again & her children are forever without a mother. They know they will not get 50 mill they are suing to prove a point.

50. It's an absolute disgrace that our courts allow such assinine lawsuits to be filed. It was an accident, Brandy did not intentionally inflict pain on the family....and for him not being able to afford hospital bills, funeral etc.....that's what auto insurance is for..no, it won't bring back a lost life, but it was an accident...if myself or the next person were in brandys shoes, there would be no lawsuits. it's amazing how greed can consume people in devastating times.....i feel sorry for brandy...she has to live with this for the rest of her life.

53. I feel sorry for the people that lost their daughter and the man who lost his wife. I just wonder how did they determine how much her death was worth. Will having this money bring her back. I think these people did not even know who Brandi was when she hit the car and after it came out on the news they found out real quick who she was. If it was another lady involved why are you not suing that lady as well. Or is she just like the average American and is not a rich person.

Brandi, I have always like your music and you have always seemed like a grounded down to earth person, and just a geniunely nice person I hope everything works out well for you. Just pray for God to guide you through this.

54. i had to respond to the attorneys wife...........no, lawyers don't take on lawsuits that they know they will not profit from.........95% of them should be shot!.....they are not suing to prove a point, they want money and have pathetic attorneys pushing for all they can get....these attorneys don't care about the lives turned upside down, just the $$$$$$$.IT WAS AN ACCIDENT........brandy shouldn't have to go to jail for this.....she wasn't drunk, and she wasn't being reckless.......she was driving how all of us drive everyday and should thank God we havn't been involved in something so devastating. this man would not have to pay any of these expenses you were talking about....maybe your husband can explain insurance and bankruptcy to you........by the way, you forgot to tally up lawyers fees in your conservative estimate.

55. I keep hearing people saying that this was "an accident" so just let poor Brandy off cause after all, she didn't mean it to happen cause it was an accident. Well, guess what, when there's an accident there is someone or something at FAULT. Driving drunk and killing someone - you didn't mean it to happen, after all it was an accident. But someone was at fault. Talking on the phone while driving, eating while driving, putting on makeup while driving, or just plain following too close while going too fast. They can all cause accidents - but someone is still at FAULT. Brandy may be the nicest person in the world, she may be a saint for all I know - but she still CAUSED an accident that resulted in a fatality. Sure she didn't mean for it to happen cause after all, it was just "an accident". Someone was at fault, someone was to blame, someone didn't mean for it to happen but her actions still caused a death. You don't get off on the "it was an accident" excuse just because you didn't mean for it to happen. Greed doesn't neccesarily come into this at all. A lawsuit against the person at fault is one of the few ways a family has any control over the person who caused the accident to be held accountable. Whether any one wants to admit it or not, an evidently by all accounts very nice young woman still was at FAULT by her actions. She can't really expect to get off without consequences.

57. the people suing are f'n scum. it was a terrible thing, but car accidents happen. She was not under the influence of anything. The only reason she's being sued is because she has money. Those people are oppurtunistic assholes and his wife is probably turning in her grave.

59. Brandy was gulty of negligence. She was at fault for this accident. She deserves to be sued, the mount of dollars is not the issue, nor what she is worth. Use your freaking brains! Because of her someone's wife, mother and daughter lost her life. You idiots are unbelievable!

When the hell are morons who are on their cells going to realize they aren't actaully giving their full attention to what the hell is going on around them when they are driving. I feel no pity for Brandy or any other driver I see yapping it up while driving. Sadly they are not the innocent victims. The families left behind are.
