63. i had to respond to the attorneys wife...........no, lawyers don't take on lawsuits that they know they will not profit from.........95% of them should be shot!.....they are not suing to prove a point, they want money and have pathetic attorneys pushing for all they can get....these attorneys don't care about the lives turned upside down, just the $$$$$$$.IT WAS AN ACCIDENT........brandy shouldn't have to go to jail for this.....she wasn't drunk, and she wasn't being reckless.......she was driving how all of us drive everyday and should thank God we havn't been involved in something so devastating. this man would not have to pay any of these expenses you were talking about....maybe your husband can explain insurance and bankruptcy to you........by the way, you forgot to tally up lawyers fees in your conservative estimate.

64. I keep hearing people saying that this was "an accident" so just let poor Brandy off cause after all, she didn't mean it to happen cause it was an accident. Well, guess what, when there's an accident there is someone or something at FAULT. Driving drunk and killing someone - you didn't mean it to happen, after all it was an accident. But someone was at fault. Talking on the phone while driving, eating while driving, putting on makeup while driving, or just plain following too close while going too fast. They can all cause accidents - but someone is still at FAULT. Brandy may be the nicest person in the world, she may be a saint for all I know - but she still CAUSED an accident that resulted in a fatality. Sure she didn't mean for it to happen cause after all, it was just "an accident". Someone was at fault, someone was to blame, someone didn't mean for it to happen but her actions still caused a death. You don't get off on the "it was an accident" excuse just because you didn't mean for it to happen. Greed doesn't neccesarily come into this at all. A lawsuit against the person at fault is one of the few ways a family has any control over the person who caused the accident to be held accountable. Whether any one wants to admit it or not, an evidently by all accounts very nice young woman still was at FAULT by her actions. She can't really expect to get off without consequences.

67. the people suing are f'n scum. it was a terrible thing, but car accidents happen. She was not under the influence of anything. The only reason she's being sued is because she has money. Those people are oppurtunistic assholes and his wife is probably turning in her grave.

68. In California - almost everyone in a car accident is sued - no matter how it happened. Everyone here wants what I call "lotto by lawsuit". Even the average person gets sued here and if the driver is traveling alone and the other car has more than one person - the lawsuit amount escalates.

We even have jerks who sue cities and counties for "bad road design" when their drunk driver family member runs through a stop sign, stop light or railroad crossing and gets killed. The problem is the lawyers and the judges that don't throw this crap out.

And not to be mean - but a person who worked as a file clerk making 25K a year doesn't have a lawsuit value of $50MM. As a matter a fact, I think they shouldn't be able to sue for more than the individual could buy a life insurance policy for...and trust me, it would be hard to get an insurance company to underwrite a $1MM policy for someone making 25K... again, I don't mean to sound heartless...after all, someone did die and that is a loss to the family.

69. Brandy was gulty of negligence. She was at fault for this accident. She deserves to be sued, the mount of dollars is not the issue, nor what she is worth. Use your freaking brains! Because of her someone's wife, mother and daughter lost her life. You idiots are unbelievable!

70. First of all, it's NOT about the money..it's about he and his wife probably going out for the day and all of a sudden it's over, his life forever changed! Did he expect to loose his soul mate? Her parents didn't expect to loose their child! It's unfair and inexcusable! Brandi was very careless and she alone caused this! So she should have to pay. Monatarily or whatever! Everyone is accountable for THEIR actions! This man lost everything and I for one knows how that feels! It's not hard to figure out that the last thing on this man's mine was he would have to plan a funeral for his young wife. That cost as well as the emotional scar he will carry for a life time! I think she should have to pay more! You couldn't put a dollar amount on my spouses life! Her parents are hurting as well, and this is what Brandi has done, no one else but her! It's a hard lesson, hopefully a lesson learned!

71. I thought I had read somewhere that Brandy was talking on her cell phone, not paying attention, and that's what caused the accident. Her insurance and the couple's insurance will pay out the maximum and then it will be up to a judge for the civil suit. The husband would have to prove criminal neglect to be granted that much money. Of course, they will probably settle out of court.

73. I don't think she should have to pay more just because she's a celebrity. People need to remember she is a mother as well. This was not intentional, it was an accident. She was negligent in causing it, however, she shouldn't have to pay more than anyone else who has caused a similar type of accident.
