"Dukes of Hazzard" Car Sells for Almost $10 Million

John Schneider's personal General Lee, the 1969 Dodge Charger from the "Dukes of Hazzard," sold today on eBay for a shock-absorbing $9,900,500.00! Car-ching!

The sale marks the second highest finish for an auto auction, the first being the $11 million 1987 sale by Christie's of a 1931 Bugatti originally owned by the Bugatti family. The General Lee was purchased by William Fisher, owner of knifecollectors.com. Schneider, who played Bo Duke in the series, is currently starring in his own family film called "Collier & Co. -- Hot Pursuit!"

Schneider tells TMZ, "It just proves that when you clean out your garage, be very, very careful about what you throw away!"

The eBay page of the General Lee auction received over one million hits during the week-long listing. ON Saturday, Schneider is taking the car for one last spin, to fulfill a Reel Angels wish for an ill child who wanted a ride.

31. john schneider is one of the finest human beings in this world today. twenty years ago when i was new to the hollywood stunt business, i found it very difficult to break into the industry. that all changed however when through a chance encounter, i met john. without asking anything from me in return, he offered to join my company, 'REEL DRIVERS UNLIMITED', and sit on my board of directors. john's association with RDU gave me instant credibility and success.it seems that whomever the buyer is of the GENERAL LEE understands that they just didn't buy a car--they bought an iconic symbol of american tv history from a true american SUPERMAN. john schneider is one of the most generous men i have ever known. the buyer should feel proud to know he will now and forever be a part of hazzard county...

35. I THINK THAT MUCH MONEY FOR A CAR IS NUTS, BUT IT'S HIS MONEY. HE EARNED IT SO HE CAN SPEND IT HOWEVER HE WANTS. AS FOR THE HOMELESS. IF THEY GOT A JOB THEY WOULDN'T BE HOMELESS FOR LONG NOW WOULD THEY?

36. Liberals are so damn stupid that they are dangerous. WTF is the difference between this guy spending 10 million on the car or putting the 10 million in a stock portfolio or some other INVESTMENT?????? Either way, the poor, starving, homeless, etc, are still poor, starving an homeless!!!! The car is an investment the same as a stock portfolio you dumbasses!!!! How many of you liberals have gone to your banks and withdrawn more than a few hundred dollars and given to a damn starving kid. You guys are the ones that have serious issues...not the buyer of this car.
