ASHEVILLE, N.C. (AP) -- Three people are dead after the crash of a small plane in the Averys Creek community. That's according to Skyland Fire Chief Dennis Pressley.

The Cessna 182 disappeared from radar around 11 a-m.

Federal Aviation Administration spokeswoman Kathleen Bergen says air traffic control lost contact with the plane about a mile and a half northwest of Asheville Regional Airport.

A command post has been set up. The wreckage is in a densely wooded area.

69. Let's wish love and support for the families of those who did die on that plane today but it was not an entertainer. Shame on you TMZ for even permitting bloggs this long on someone eles's grief when you know your headlines are bogus. 74. TMZ - shame on you! This is far too serious for you to post something like this based on a rumor. This created grief and upset for those that care about Jay-Z, including his fans, and moreover could impact the families and friends of those that really did die. Are we supposed to say "oh thank goodness it wasn't Jay-Z" when three other lives were lost who were equally as important as Jay-Z to their family and friends?

My thoughts and prayers are with the families who have lost loved ones in this tragic accident. I'm sad for those involved even though it wasn't someone famous.
