Sharpton: I've Said the N-Word, But I'm No Imus

Reverend Al Sharpton admits that he has dropped some offensive slurs in the past, but claims that a comparison with Don Imus is "completely unfair."

In an exclusive interview with TMZ, The Rev admitted that calling his good friend and former New York Mayor David Dinkins a "n----r whore" several years ago was wrong ... but added, "If I say something wrong on the air, I should lose my radio show."

Even after Imus apologized for calling the Rutgers women's basketball team "nappy headed hos," Sharpton still called for him to be canned from MSNBC radio gig. When TMZ asked The Rev why he shouldn't have been fired from his job after dropping the N-bomb, Sharpton replied, "He's done this over and over and over again and has suffered nothing -- not even suspended. To compare any of us is an unfair comparison." Sharpton added, "I was wrong and others are wrong ... but this isn't the first time I've spoken up against it, I also marched after "Barbershop."

Sharpton also claims that he has never referred to the Jewish community as "diamond merchants," despite several published reports to the contrary. "That was never said ... but it's interesting that years after it allegedly happened, conservatives brought this up. This is a political attack." Sharpton added, "I have worked hard to establish an open dialogue with the Jewish community, and in fact, I was invited as a guest to Israel in 2002."

136. Rev. (LOL) Al is correct he could never be like Imus. He is black and we all know that black people are not racists. They are not homphobic and treat everyone with kindness and love. While all the while we evil whites are trying to get them back in the cotton fileds and in chains. The only whites they consider worther to mock them are liberal democrats like Hillary CLinton. Have you heard her speaking black at a Church in Mississipi? If a white republican did that he would have to go hide somewhere for all the protests.

144. all of these comments are hysterical. I guess Mr. Sharpton should just shut up and go sit in a corner somewhere huh??? When white people want something they will create any and everything to try and justify themselves. Reverse discrimination????? How does that work?? Maybe on an individual level that might work. But not on a grand scale. There is no reverse discrimination when it comes to the lending industry or the home buyers market, or in the job search arena. But because some black guy calls you a white boy thats reverse discrimination???? You people need to really understand what it is we complain about before you start flapping your gums. Because the arguments you lay out are weaker than dollar store garbage bags.

No Mr sharpton isnt the leader of the black population and neither is Jesse Jackson. The media made that decision. Not the black community. And all of the hateful and racists posts in this blog proves the obvious, that most think minorities should stay in their proverbial place. Imus f'd up. Regardless of what happend to him he f'd up. But by trying to protect him by going after Sharpton and Jackson just goes to show how Whites react to demands from minorities.

Racism is alive and well in this country whether or not it is blatant. The new rule is to keep it undercover. Problem is that us minorities arent stupid enough to fall for the "there is no racism" mantra of today.

And stop bringing up that Duke case. Once in a lifetime some whiteboys get falsely accussed. There are thousands of young black men doing time for crimes they didnt commit. When white privilege is no longer an integral part of American society, than maybe minorities will stop fighting for justice over every little incident. Until then, the black fist while remain held up high. Fight the power.

at his concerts instead of worrying about Paris Hilton??? I think he
should focus on getting a grown "so called Man" FIRED for humping
