166. Here in Canada,1st offence of DWI is a minimum of suspended licence for one year,
a fine of between 8-1200 dollars,and a "victim surcharge,usually 10-15% of the total fine.
To top that off, after your year is up, a alchol sobriety machine is installed in your car ,at your cost 14-1600 dollars. It has to be calibrated evey few weeks at 60 dollars a pop-It sounds a alarm ,in which you must blow into a straw type device so the machine can register if you have been drinking-any detection kills your vehicle dead. No battery,no start.nothing.
Here in Canada we are considering even stronger measures.
Those on the south side have it far to easy...

All ther Best!

167. Celebeities are just like us and now the arrests show that it's true, if you look in your home town paper you will see lots of DWIs and DUIs now it goes for them too.
And about time old hollywood if a Star got in trouble hardly anone heard and if they drove drunk and killed someone the Movie companies hushed it up I'm glad they can't do it anymore.

169. I love the way we all assume to know exactly what happened that Saturday morning....How do we know that the police weren't waiting for him or a celeb. to leave, and then watched for one bad move. Are Celebs above the law...no...should they be responsible for their actions, yes. Should they be fired for a one time mistake...No. We have no proof that this is a regular practice and I thought in this country you were innocent until proven guilty.....I guess that doesn't apply if you are rich and famous. I agree that as a role model he is held to higher standards, but is that really fair? He is after all first and foremost a Human..........

170. Where is my Post TMZ? I'm not shocked you didn't put it out there, and I feel I know why it was not put up on the board. You people at TMZ never cease to amaze me!

172. Hey, at least he seemed to honestly own up to his actions, and is not trying to worm his way out of them like some spoiled coward (I hate you Paris Hilton).

173. Okay, I can understand that drinking and driving is not a good thing. But what really bugs me is that the laws have changed a lot in the past decade with regards to DUI. The limits use to be .15 and now they're .08. Not to mention, it wasn't very profitable to bust someone for a DUI back in the day and there wasn't much focus on it either like today. For most people, having 2-4 drinks within 2 hours is enough to get you a DUI. Btw, the avg. person busted for DUI has a level of .15. Given these facts and how most people on here post negatively about this "problem"...what has the State, Fed., or you as a person done to stop this problem? Nothing, I say. Do you know how easy it would be for police to bust people just by waiting outside a bar? And in most states, the bar is not responsible if you drink too much and drive. It all boils down to money...that's why MADD wanted the limit lowered to .08 (they get a kick back on the fines in most states), that's why the State & Fed. don't change the laws to eliminate serving alcohol at bars/restaurants (less tax money). Just look at smoking and that's where people rights on where and how they drink are going. Is it a good thing...yes and no. And is it fair that someone busted for a DUI back in the day just got a "fine" and people now get jail time? Even our President has been convicted of DUI and the Vice President has been convicted of DUI twice - and both of them were adults when they got busted, not to mention they run our country...how's that for a kicker? I think the whole DUI issue has been handled the wrong way, same goes for drugs. If they wanted to stop most of the people from drinking and driving they would just need to set up sting operations outside of bars. Instead they set up checkpoints which will only get some people. The other problem is that there are so many people getting DUI's that the courts can't handle more cases. Having a law that says you'll get a DUI if you get caught and have this much alcohol in your system is NOT going to change people from drinking and driving. What will work is having cops sting the places that sell the alcohol and let the people drive. And if places stop serving alcohol then expect a lot less places to eat at...since that's the bread-n-butter of most restaurants/bars. And don't tell me at 1/2am in the most of the people leaving a bar are responsible and are not drunk or are taking an alternative ride home? Btw, depending on where you are a Taxi or Limo might not be an option or could take forever or be very costly. Not all cities have a mass transit system. These are just some of the issues around DUI. So, before you judge and think just because something's a law that it's right then thing again...because the law changes all the time. If you believe so much in the law then you shouldn't even be able to buy alcohol, let alone drink. Funny how times changed.

174. Personally, I do not drink, but I do not understand why Ty Pennington needs to apologize to anyone for being human. People are not perfect They screw up. Ty did not hurt anyone and I hope he never drinks and drives again, but having said that, the man although might look like one, is not a God and the people must realize he can error

175. Ty may have made a stupid mistake but who amongst us hasn't. What makes me laugh about people is that they see the one thing you do wrong and not the one hundred things you have done that were good. I think that despite his wrong judgement he just made a mistake. Everyone needs to unwind and I am sure that Ty will have deep regrets for a long while for what he has done. Just because someone goes a little over sometimes doesn't mean that they should lose their job. He is over all a really good guy. As the saying goes: " People who live in glass houses shouldn't throw rocks". Just give the guy a break. His own free time is just that and he should not have to answer to the public for what he does in that time.

176. Ty-going to rehab and confessing on Oprah isn't going to do it for your fans. Think of something unique and different like your decorating...Gavin, now you!? There is just no excuse for not getting a ride. Call the cabbies and get two-one to drive your car home. You don't have to be rich or a celeb to get that kind of service.

I agree with the poster who said special treatment of celebs is giving them a sense of entitlement that goes over the cliff. You people make me so mad. Set an EXAMPLE!

Posted at 9:09PM on May 17th 2007 by Oprah's gonna kick his butt!

177. Listen folks...Didn't Jesus himself tell us..."Those that are without sin cast the first stone"...Everyone makes mistakes; hopefully, Ty will learn from his. Ty, if you happen to read this, always know that 'The South Will Rise Again...' ; we love you and we are proud of you....

178. IF ANY OF YOU IDIOTS BOTHERED TO READ THE ARTICLE CLOSELY IT SAID SUSPICION OF BEING UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF ALCOHOL WHILE DRIVING. THAT IS A BIG DIFFERENCE FROM ACTUALLY DRIVING UNDER THE INFLENCE. DON'T JUMP TO CONCLUSIONS WITHOUT KNOWING ALL THE FACTS AND HE IS ALLOWED TO MAKE MISTAKES.

179. Where is Ty? He is apparently no longer with Extreme Makeover. Just because he was arrested for DUI?

What hypocrits you are, Extreme Makeover! Fine! You may find out what the cost of being PC is! As for me, I have bought my last Ford and done my last shopping at Sears. Both of these companies make substandard products anyway! I'll get a Toyota next time.
