Mr. Chow Accused of Soup Nazi Antics

Mr. ChowThe man behind the ultra-swanky restaurant chain, Mr. Chow, is under fire from three former waiters who claim the mogul slapped, kicked and often abused them in the kitchen. Chew on that!

According to the lawsuit filed in a New York federal court and obtained by TMZ, the former employees accuse Michael Chow of running his Manhattan place like "a conductor with an iron baton" and causing his workers to "suffer many day-to-day indignities." Among those alleged indignities, the ex-chow-slingers claim that Chow would "tap or lightly slap" a waiter on the back of the head to get his attention and once "scribbled with pen" on the employees' $350 uniforms, which they were forced to purchase with their own cash.

Chow is also accused of deducting waiters' tips for not listening to him attentively, and for speaking out of turn.

The men, who are also suing on behalf of other current and former employees who wish to join the lawsuit, are asking for unpaid minimum wages, unpaid overtime and no less than $5 million in punitive damages in compensation for the alleged abuse. They've already picked up expert employment attorney Louis Pechman to fight their battle in court.

Numerous stars frequent Chow's places, including Britney Spears, Paris Hilton, Sharon Stone and anyone else who ever wanted to be on TMZ.com.

Reps for Mr. Chow were not immediately available for comment.

32.
Hey TMZ!
Speaking of restaurants, what do you know about this?

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20070509/ap_en_ce/people_simpson;_ylt=AjcbKg0cHeKLcSLjjr2cWLXMWM0F

The owner refused to serve OJ Simpson....because of what he's put Nicole Brown's and Ron Goldman's families through....murdering their children and pretty much getting away with it....
The comments by his attorney are just unbelievable.!

35. Hey MikeNy #32

You must be one of the managers at a Chows who was enjoying the tips ripped off from others to write a sob story like that. Nice try, but if these 3 are bums and drunks and no counts, they sure know how to put together a good case that got all the major NY papers attention.

Waiting for Mr Chows response? That chicken sends a spokesperson saying "these charges are frivilous".

Thats the best that idiot can do? If the Hollywood elite dont boycott his places than there something wrong with all of them after learning of the cruelty that has been documented.

I dont care how much of a bum you are, no one could make up that kicking story.

So go back to dipping into others tip jars you Chow lover, afriad you'll get kicked too if you didnt write a nice rebuttal for Chow?

36. One more thing, why must Paris Hilton be everywhere? I can't tell you how sickening it is to turn a page of a magazine or turn on the TV and everywhere I look there doing some stupid story about her. I am sick of it. She is talentless. She is a rich snob with no meaning.
Why do we inflate this kind of image and force people, like myself, to watch it. Yes, I do turn the channel. But jeez this nothing is everywhere!
I am so glad she has to do time. I am so glad the justice system did not bend there rules for this snob. Its about time. I just hope she isnt able to do her 45 days in a facility like the one Martha Stewart did hers in.

Just my two cents!

37. A whole lot of people here seem to be judge and jury without giving anyone an opportunity to present the facts. It is indeed a terrible thing when the rich and powerful abuse those who have enabled them to become so rich and powerful. Exploitation is not new. We need to address it at the federal level. How about a simple tax code that is indexed. No more deductions for anyone other than a base living allowance the increases every year with the cost of living. If the abusers had nothing to gain from their abuse, it might give them pause, then again some are sick. The facts should be heard before we decide the case. Apart from this, I don't have to worry about Mr. Chow's place because I can't afford it. No worries about disgruntled employees polluting my food.

38. A response to #10 remark. I have to agree that it is getting bad everywhere. It will continue to get bad as long as we, the public, support programs that celebrate bad behavior. Have you noticed how many television programs there are out there that emulate terrible human behavior. People being mean to others and getting paid for it. The saddest thing is that the public loves it, if they did'nt, the programs would cease to air. So, what does that say for humans? We complain and complain and then we turn on the TV so we can watch another episode of Desperate Housewives, or Girls Behaving Badly, or the Apprentice, or Survivor, or Hells Kitchen, etc, etc.

42. I thought we were supposed to be discussing Mr. Chow here. Instead, it's been mostly about racism, Paris Hilton, Canadians, O.J. ...etc. Must be alot of A.D.D. out there.

As far as Mr. Chow is concerned, I had a chef pull that crap on me. He was drunk and hit me. I called the police, he went to jail, was fired, and I got his job! True story. I hope Mr. Chow goes to jail and ends up flat broke washing dishes at the former restaurant he owned.
