Celebrity Justice
Slight Altar-ation in Paris/Church Story

A few newspaper websites are reporting that the judge who sentenced Paris Hilton did not get a standing ovation in church last Sunday.
Judge Sauer - Paris Hilton
They were right. Turns out the ovation was Saturday -- the day after Michael T. Sauer dropped the hammer on Hilton. Our bad, assuming people only go to church on Sunday.

According to several God-fearing witnesses, Judge Sauer went the day before, and as he walked in, the congregation erupted in applause. Several parishioners buttonholed the judge to express their approval.

Amen.

123. #48 Celebrity Realist - You are a troll. You have no more idea about ethics than, say, Paris and Kathy Hilton. Yours is a shallow and vapid view totally without morals strictly designed to trash and defame a good judge, and everyone here sees through it. Take your typically high school Hilton attempt at ruining an outstanding judge's reputation , go sit in a corner and think about it. You need a time out. Someone should have done this for Kathy AND Paris long ago. Too late for them. Nasty, trashing Jailbirds.

125. Paris Hilton broke the law, broke terms of probation repeatedly and now is going to jail, get over it.

The fact that so many people are rushing to her aid tells me they have no life of their own, do they rush to the aid of Jane Doe or John Smith when they break the law and terms of probation and go to jail? No.

That alone makes Paris supporters both hypocritical and support her lawless disregard of the sentence and the law.

No one is gloating that Paris Hilton is going to jail, they are gloating because justice has prevailed and Paris Hilton was treated as fairly and impartially as Jane Doe or John Smith.

It's pleasing to see impartiality in law.

126. I think that about 95% of the countries people love his decision, and I am one of them, but don't you think you would be just as scared if people were telling you (from inside) that they are going to "beat you to a pulp"? I think she needs to be slapped around, but not beaten to a pulp, that's going a bit too far.

127. Laws are meant to be followed and typically when you break the law you must be prepared to pay the consequences. As far as claiming that she was unaware of the suspension, she should make it her business to know those things and maybe consider growing up. I don't feel sorry for her because had the tables been turned I would probably be facing a far worse punishment!

129. As the deacon at St. Brendan Church, I was immediately suspicious when I was contacted by media to confirm the sotry about Judge Sauer receiving a standing ovation when he walked into the church for a few reasons. First of all, it doesn't sound like the sort of thing that would happen at St. Brendan. Secondly, while I was not at the Saturday Vigil Mass, I had heard no one in the parish refer to it.

Well what do you know, today's Los Angeles Times has a story where Judge Sauer himself refutes this story:

"The urban legends have already begun to crop up; celebrity gossip website TMZ.com, citing "sources inside," reported that Sauer received a standing ovation from his fellow congregants Sunday at St. Brendan Catholic Church.

"The church story is completely false," he said."

I would encourage people to take celebrity gossip with a grain of salt before attacking the people of St. Brendan Church, as som ehave done on this blog.
