Free Paris Protest Fizzles Big Time

Paris Hilton got a very public show of support this afternoon from some deeply concerned and passionate citizens of New York -- all three of them.

The well-publicized rally in Greenwich Village -- timed to coincide with New York University's graduation ceremonies -- fell just a little bit short of expectations, with just three protesters fighting the pro-Paris fight, calling her a victim and a martyr. They also carried signs saying "Ike Was Right -- Free Paris." Uh, that's Paris ... France, not Hilton, guys.

Our man on the scene noted an "Access Hollywood" reporter joked with other media types assembled for the action, "So you got all dressed up with nowhere to go." Sounds a little like Paris in a few short weeks.

34. to all the perfect people that have never made mistakes in their perfect lives: Jail is a harsh reality full off scumbags and lowlifes including the correction personel and further more does very little to help or rehabilitate. I can think of 100 better punishments for Paris that might actually help her and others. What real good is jail time going to besides add to the media circus. Someone with her finances and clout could do forty five days of real help in another way. Just my opinion. Don't get mad.

36. Yes, Paris was treated unfairly . . . she, unlike the rest of American society when they get caught for this stupid crime, got multiple chances to let this go, but still chose to violate her parole. If they wanted to teach her a lesson, they should have either rescinded the segregation order or ship her to Maricopa County, Arizona.

39. I was really surprised when they gave here 45 days, usually celebrities get off.. Actually, she isn't even doing the required 90 days for the offense.. She crys that she has learned her lesson? How? She hasn't done any reprimand yet.. She is a spoiled brat and as dumb as a box of rocks.. She dismissed the fact that her license was suspended, laughing at the law and thinking she is untouchable.. Now she is getting a dose of reality and it ain't purty..

44. I have lived within the law my whole life and have gone out of my way to be of good and generous service to others without calling all kinds of attention to myself. I have endured tremendous pain and suffering most of my life. It's very hard for me to feel pity that Paris is facing 45 days in jail. I know she's scared and she should be. My own mother (who had a drinking problem for 30 years) was finally caught and convicted twice of drunk driving in 1986. She totaled her car and she was sentenced to time in a LA County jail (my mother was scared to death too!) and community service at my old high school. GUESS WHAT! IT CHANGED HER LIFE AND SHE NEVER DRANK AGAIN!!! I FINALLY HAD THE MOTHER I'D NEVER HAD!!!! When it was all said and done, my mom said she could have kissed the judge for doing what he did. It saved her life.

I believe in being humble and see how Paris has not been exposed to this kind of thinking. Doing time in jail is part of the purification process Paris is asking for. She would never have placed herself in this position if she were a balanced person. She needs to WAKE UP AND START SEEING HOW SHE CAN BE PART OF THE SOLUTION AND NOT PART OF THE DRUGGIE PROBLEM OUR CULTURE SEEMS SO BENT ON.

Paris has created a persona built on "looks and material wealth" and seems to be unaware of our spirituality and interconnectedness. It saddens me that she has led so many young women away from behaving with humility, dignity and meekness.

Hopefully jail time will open her eyes.
