211. While I think what Akon did was raunchy as hell, I don't think he should be blamed. As far as he knew, she was admitted to the club because she was 18. What about placing some blame on the club's security (or lack there of) and then, why not look at placing blame on her as well. She is 15 and while 15 year olds don't make the best decisions a good portion of the time, they know wrong from right. And why haven't the parents stepped forward and totally admonished the girl? Why is everyone playing the Akon blame game? If parents would take more responsibility for their childrens' actions, maybe our children would be better behaved.

passa passa 57, part 3. the video starts out with a guy appearing to slap or beat some chick on the butt, and then it moves to him holding onto her, and her holding onto him as they move down this construction crane that they were on top of, and the entire while they're simulating rough sex. then the camera moves to some guy lifting up some chick's skirt, and she's helping him, and he's just pounding the **** out of her... at the same time that the original guy is lifting the other chick in the air and then letting her falling, smashing into his crotch ... and both chicks are helping the guys.

then the video moves to two people on top of a car, where this guy is roughly keeping this chicks legs spread apart as he's forcefully humping her..... and again, she's helping him.

and there's more videos like that at youtube. it makes the akon video seem pretty tame. the comments by carribean folk on those videos is also telling. carribeans think it's no big deal and that it's just dancing.... just as this pastor claimed his daughter was just dancing.

it's only an issue because of her age, and no one would have known her age if mediatakeout. com hadn't received that anonymous call from her concerned 'guardian' that she was brutalized so badly she needed medical attention.

First of all where did this 15 year old get clothes like this, and from this shot it looks like she's the one doing all the seducing, he's not touching her in this picture and she looks like the grinding is her idea. I didn't see the whole clip or whatever it was they had of it but still, she's 15, she's wearing racy, hoe-ish clothing, she's at a club that she's not supposed to be and she's publishing it as though she's proud. 216. before saying who i believe was at fault, i shall elaborate from s/one who went to the event.(yes i am "trini") firstly, akon invited girls to dance, by themselves,in order to win a trip to africa. then he claimed he was "africa" after choosing the most attractive dancer - Danah. when the crowd started booing him, he retracted and said he and danah will compete and if she is the better dancer she will win whatever she wants! *roll eyes* when ppl chanted her name, he decided (for some reason) that he should come under her, treat her like a rag doll, and then proclaimed "well i obviously won!" she was left on the stage in which the dj helped her up and she was visibly upset. I see after, she is obviously a wild child who now proclaims with all the attention that she enjoyed it. obviously she is young and stupid. but whether she was 18 (when one can drink and club in trinidad) or not, innocent or wild, the person broguht on stage was obviously fooled and mistreated,and so i see AKON AT FAULT. danah however just needs to grow up! I can't understand why in akon's apology he said he tried to ensure noone under 18 was admitted. I would LOVE to know what measures he placed for this to happen. Finally- waw this long- i would like to know why did it take him so long to apologize,ie. weeks following the event and after he lost a contract. I believe he did know he was at fault, because initially the clip that is being circulated so much was initially placed by fellow trinis on websites such as youtube.com and was taken down by akon's label for non-specific reasons. HELLLOOO!!

225. 1. for the ppl that are saying that "this kind of dancing is no big deal in the caribbean" and bringing up passa passa -stop talking what you don't know. Passa passa is JAMAICAN and rooted in DANCEHALL culture which is not the culture of the Eastern Caribbean. Dancehall and its culture shares a lot more in common with hip hop than it does with soca/calypso. That being said, the way Trinis and the rest of the Eastern Caribbean dance is in fact, very erotic but there is huge difference from passa passa and what went on between Danah and Akon. When Trinis start wining together their is a lot of sexual innuendo but their is a line that is not to be crossed, that line the one where the woman stops being the flitatious one in control and starts looking like a degraded women; women that let themselves get treated like that are called jamettes (read low class street women). I first saw that video the day after the event and I thought the girl was at least 18. Nevertheless, I was appalled. It did look make me think of passa passa in its misogynist degradation of the girl. The first thing I asked was what kind of animal Akon was and I commented that he was so brutally ramming her that he was completely out of time with the music..THAT IS NOT DANCING TO TRINIS, its simply being a pig.

2. While 18 is the legal age to drink and go to clubs in Trinidad, there are cultural differences that effect how well these laws are enforced. Trinidadians do not tend to carry ID so someone say they don't have proof of age on their person doesn not raise eyebrows and its then up to the club to make a judgement call. These events are sure to change that, its already happening.

3. I can only shake my head at all the so called adults, that refer to a 15 yr old as "bitch, ho, slut". Is she a fast ass? Yes she is. 15 year old girls have raging hormones and newly developed bodies. Danah is a pretty girl with a nice body. When she walks down the street I'm quite sure she gets attention/looks from men of all ages. 15 yr old girls are very aware of their newly developed power over men and revel in the attention they get. They also have bad senses of judgement and that why at their parents who know all this and see the changes and stages their child is going through should be holding a tight leash, fostering communication and looking for any sign of danger. And if worse comes to worse, because we all know kids often manage to do things they know they're not suppossed to -the parents then should administer a proper Trini cutass (beating) to their fast lil tail, so if they don't refrain from damaging behavior simply out of respect to their parents, they'll refrain for fear of their life. That's what parents are for and that leads me to
5. The parents are the only ones at fault here. Akon's behavior was disgusting but if that's his gimmick and ppl choose to support, its a free country..both USA & Trinidad and he had no way of knowing her age. Yes the club needs to tighten their policies but thats another whole issue. Her parents are very negligent here and the only reason they are making these statements and acting all outraged is to save face because Trinidad is a tiny place full of ppl with vicious tongues and Danah has been the main focus of talk for going on a month now.
6. Verizon ifsfull of it. They want to make a show of pulling sponsorship now because this has made it to mainstream and international media. Why don't they explain how come this felon who is anything but apologetic for his way of life and uses it to promote himself ,ever had sponsorship in the first place?
