Ellen -- "She's Gay?!"

In a long video post on her blog, Rosie O'Donnell claims fellow out lesbian Ellen DeGeneres is not allowed to talk about anything "gay, gay gay!" on her daytime talk show. Mum's the L word?

In her video, Rosie claims Ellen signed a contract that forbids her to mention anything to do with gay issues, adding, "I talk about 'gay' because I like to and she doesn't talk about it because she doesn't want to or she can't."

TMZ contacted a rep for Telepictures, producers of "The Ellen DeGeneres Show," who jokingly said "She's gay? Who knew?" The rep then added that this is completely untrue, and that they have no such contracts with any of their hosts, saying,"Ellen is free to talk about whatever she wants and we encourage her to do so."

On an episode this week, Ellen joked about being able to stand upright following her recent back injury, saying, "I'm not quite straight. Well, you know that."

In 1997, Ellen publicly came out of the closet in a groundbreaking episode of her ABC series, paving the way for hit gay-themed TV shows like "Will & Grace" and "Queer Eye for the Straight Guy."

TMZ is a joint venture between AOL and Telepictures, which produces "The Ellen DeGeneres Show."

108. I just can't see any broadcast outlet or sponsor putting money behind a fresh Rosie chat show. She was such a rude and unpleasant presence on "The View", it would be foolish to push the idea of another show further. And I am of the belief her ratings were not from supportive viewers, but rather people looking to witness another jaw-dropping rant or attack. Big difference. Just based on the comments of TMZ writers (a good cross-section of America, I imagine) Rosie is persona non grata as a talk show host.

110. Does anyone remember when Rosie was "the Queen of Nice" on her own show? And do you remember when Ellen came out? Ellen was on the Rosie show, and Ellen said to Rosie, "Come on, come out with me." Rosies response was "no, no, no!!" Now we cant' get her to shut up about it. She has taken the "gayness" too far. We are all tired of hearing it. Then after Rosie quit her own show, she made the statement that she no longer has to be nice, because she doesn't have her own show anymore? Never heard another nice statement come out of her mouth.

Is it my imagination or did years not go by and Rosie never told any one she was gay because she did not want to lose her sponssors - she even went to the point and made up this strage obsession with Tom Cruise - let's not even get started on that wacko. Rosie is pathetic. When did she become the moral judge for the world. And all of you who idealize this tub of lard are as pathetic as she is. Rosie is a loser who people like because she gives free stuff to her audience. She preaches so much about being true to her heart and what is right - after you made your millions deceiving America that is easy. Rosie go adopt some babies and disappear from the rest of the world. You add about as much value to this world as Paris Hilton.

The responses at TMZ clearly show the level of anti-gay hatred in this country. The responses show that if you are GAY you can not say certain things like talking about your relationships. Yet you have Eva Longoria talking about how she will not have sex with Tony Parker before games for fear it might ruin his performances. HOW DO YOU EXPLAIN THAT DOUBLE STANDARD?!!! THE SIGNATURE OF THE ANTI-GAY CROWD IS CONTROL. They want to control EVERY aspect of a gay person's life including what they say. This is an example of that. 116. There are so many people on here that believe they know everthing about gay people and they know nothing. Cecelia Rougellis (post #93), let me inform you that opposite-sex couple talk about their relationships ALL-THE-TIME, NON-STOP. You are delusional Cecelia. Delusional. Gay people do not say gay this and gay that. You can't stand when a gay person mentions anything to do with them so you blow it up to being their entire life.

You have all the haters. That what you are; H A T E R S. People that hate gay people come on TMZ everytime there is a post about Rosie O'Donnell so they can express there hate. They have nothing to say except they hate gay people and Rosie is their proxy for saying it. 119. My 14 year old daughter & I agree, Ellen is smart & talented, she is like a good book you want to keep reading. Rosie is vulgar & hateful, and we believe that spewing lies is not a desirable talent. Ellen promotes aceptance based on her behaviour. Rosie's behaviour justifies all lesbian bashing.

120. OK, I like to laugh and be entertained when I watch a chat show. When I watch Letterman or Leno I get that. When I watch Ellen I get that too. When I watch Rosie, I don't get that so much. The format at The View is just different. It encourages opinion in a more serious way and I wonder what I would think of Ellen or Leno or Letterman if they had Rosie's chair over at The View. After giving this whole thing some thought think I have always enjoyed the comedy of Ellen, Leno, Letterman--I never really thought Rosie was that funny. But there are things I like about Rosie...just prefer the styles of the other comics more. I don't think that is a Gay issue. I just find some folks more entertaining than others.
