61. Well this is warm and fuzzy.... nice. But I want to know how these older celebs get to adopt! Where do they find these babies, that the less priviledged seem to be unable to locate? Angelina Jolie is not one of the older people adopting... but Madonna is up there in age and Cheryl Crow is no spring chicken..... Sooooo would someone please tell me how they adopt. Why aren't these resources availble to all of us that want to adopt! I don't normally care about celeb priviledge, as I wouldn't want their lives, and personally chose not to pursue such a life, but I am damn well irritated they they obtain adoptive favor....Anyone know?

62. WHAT is all this HATEFULNESS and negativity??? And all this speculation? Can't we just say "Congratulations and best wishes"? It's a wonderful day when a child is wanted and finds a loving home. Sheryl is 45, she's made a fortune and she can retire tomorrow if she wants - who cares how she plans to provide for the child as long as she does so? She was a teacher, she knows how children grow and develop. She'll make a good mother. Just say Congratulations and shut up.

64. Congratulations absolutely are in order. This is a wonderful event for Sheryl and for her new child.

There are avenues of adoption open to people who cannot afford a privately arranged adoption (which can involve high costs in the form of lawyer fees and paying all the living and medical costs for the birth mother), if you are willing to embrace a child who is not a newborn. There are thousands and thousands of vulnerable kids waiting for permanent , loving homes.

65. Hello, yes, I'm so happy for Sheryl as adoption is just so amazing. My hubby and I just adopted our second child, a beautiful baby boy and we just ADORE him. People who don't have fertility issues just don't realize how fortunate they are and just take so much for granted. Thanks, Carol.

Accountable, i think it can be summarized up with the word "money".

Dylan once said 'money doesn't talk, it swears' ... truer words have rarely been spoken

67. Adoption is a happy event for both sides but if we have to look for the best interest of the child... Correct me if I am wrong but isn't there like a really long list of FAMILIES (with a father and a mother) waiting to adopt babies?

I know Sheryl deserves to be happy, anybody does, but it still seems a bit selfish to me that a single woman who has just recovered from a potentially life-threatening desease would take on a responsiblity for another human being?

Yes, a baby would make most women happy, it's only natural, but isnt' the child's interest first priority? And isn't a family with a father and a mother and with no serious health issues, the best thing for a child? It seems to me that nobody talks about the elephant in the room - Sheryl has just recovered from a potentially life threatening illness that could reappear. Common folks - it's happened hundreds of times so far! I wish I never did but it has...

70. Well she can't use disposable diapers because of Global Warming. She can't wash clothe diapers because that would use up water which is also bad for the environment. So I guess this kid will run around with nothing on just crapping and pissing all over their self and every where else. I mean she wants us all to stop doing all this stuff so the world will cool down and the weather will be perfect every where. So she and Al need to do the same. And Bon Jovi believes all this crap too so he needs to sell that 25 million dollar home he bought and use that money to help stop global warming. Well I guess he bought carbon credits so he does not have to change his life style either. Just us common folks.

71. #75 your comment that a baby would make most women happy is probably true for the most part. On the downside of that they grow up and become ungrateful teenagers and then when they have their own families they don't have time for their parents. (No, I don't have children so don't think I'm bitter about some sort of bad relationship.) Babies are cute and I would have loved to have had one but couldn't. Then I realized that they don't stay little and cute forever and that was what I liked about them. Once they grow up they become like everyone else. I never married for pretty much the same reason. A marriage is only going to end one of two ways. They either leave you or they die so what's the point?

72. I am happy that Sheryl adopted a child from this country, but she was absolutely fast tracked and favored because of her money. I say this as someone who has adopted in this country through the foster care system, of which there are thousands of older kids awaiting homes. My husband and I had to go through tons of training classes to become licensed foster parents, not to mention home studies and stringent background checks, then wait over a year for placement of a child who we basically found and pursued ourselves over the internet, searching websites of difficult to place children. It then took another 2 1/2 years to legally finalize the adoption of a special needs child, who had already been through 2 failed adoption attempts, and who we took in at the age of 8, with multiple disabilities. We also specified that we wanted to adopt ONLY legally free (meaning the parental rights had already been legally terminated) children, so we didn't have to worry about them being taken back, which complicated finding a child. We didn't have the money that Sheryl has, so there was no way in the world that any adoption agency would have found us a newborn baby, and certainly not quickly. If celebrities really wanted to make a difference by adopting an unwanted child, they would put aside their money, and start looking at adopting older children out of the foster care system, and invest in making a real positive difference in the future generations of america.

73. YOU GO GIRL!!!! Sheryl Crow is an amazing person. So delighted to hear she chose to adopt. Have hoped she would have the opportunity to become a mother. Sheryl and I are the same age so I knew her biological clock was winding down. The child is lucky to have a pretty, smart and talented woman adopt him. Can't express enough how thrilled I was when I heard. Happy Mother's Day Sheryl!!!!!

74. I am an adoptive mom and am very happy for Sheryl. Whether she adopts here or in another country doesn't matter. Those people who say we should only adopt in America need to look at the big picture. Should we also not feed or send assistance to hungry people in other countries, and instead only feed Americans? That is a selfish way to look at the world. God (or whatever you believe in) made the whole world, not just the USA. Giving a child is a home is just that.
And as for her looks...good grief, who cares? She looks happy and maybe a little tired, just as any new mom does. It's not a glamorous job, but it's the best.
