T.R. Knight Outs the Haters

TR Knight"Grey's Anatomy" star T.R. Knight reveals that not everyone was pleased with his decision to come out. Paging Isaiah Washington!

In a new interview in The Advocate, reports People magazine, Knight recounts how many friends were "beautifully supportive," while others warned him not to come out. Haters! "Don't do it now," they advised, afraid it might jeopardize his career. But, says Knight, "I could have not [spoken up]. I could have retreated. But I'm definitely happy I made the decision."

Knight was moved to publicly come out after fellow castmate Isaiah "McMeany" Washington was caught making homophobic slurs on set. Lovely. Washington has since attended gay-slur "rehab" for his comments, and relations on the set seem to have simmered down. Can you say ABC gag order?!

Knight first came out to People last October, saying "I hope the fact that I'm gay isn't the most interesting part of me."

46. I don't find TR Knight either likeable or a particularly good actor. I think he is a vindictive, self serving little weasel who went public with his gayness as a means of getting back at his cast mate for hurting his feelings. What's the matter TR? Did Isaiah turn you down on that camping trip? He hurt the show, the fans of the show. and his cast mate by choosing this particular time to go public. No one cares if he is gay. No one cares about him at all. It is the characters on Grey's Anatomy that we care about and that includes Burke played by the extremely talented Isaiah Washiington. If TR wants to be considered anything other than the poor little guy who was called a bad name he should perhaps get past it and stop talking about it. I find him completely reprehensible and it has nothing whatsoever to do with his gayness. Grow up and move on.

47. Don't watch the show so I couldn't care less if he's gay or not.

48. #45 - Actually, the story about Isiah's hateful remarks broke, and that is the only reason that T.R. came out. It had nothing to do with getting back at anyone, and everything to do with taking control of a situation that was going to become public whether he wanted it to or not. T.R. did not hurt the show, Isiah hurt the show, the fans, and his cast mates - notice how the entire cast has stood by T.R. and distanced themselves from Isiah at the Emmys? You can find Mr. Knight reprehensible, but the truly vile (though talented) player here is Mr. Washington. His behavior is not only bigoted and hateful, it is also childish and bullying. Mr. Knight on the other hand, has handled this situation with class and dignity all the way.

49. I am tired of labels. I'm a sixty something retired school teacher. When will we ever learn that labels do not define us. I fell in love with Richard Chamberlain as I was growning up. He was quite a hunk to me and millions of others. What chick of my era didn't love him in Thornbirds. We all knew, even then. And how about Rock Hudson? And let's not forget Gomer Pyle, Jim Nabors. So TR, you are among some very high profile actors that are gay. So what? Well, here's what....keep doing what you are doing. All this nonsense will pass away and you will be remembered for the rolls you played so convincingly and the way in which you handled yourself in these silly, but troubled, times. Reach out to others and make a difference in this world by supporting your favorite deserving charity and act, Mr. TR Knight, ACT.

50. "Coming Out" is not easy. Leave him alone!

51. George, otherwise known as T.R. Knight , is one of my favorite characters on Grays. How can you not love George? Leave him alone, his sexual orientation is none of my business, just like mine is none of his. And please let it be a mistake that he failed his internship exam!!!

52. TR is a good human being, a very good actor, and his life is his business. What he does in private has not one thing to do with his career. Give him a break, and show the same kind of compassion he showed Isaiah, when he cruelly outed him. If you are homophobic, don't watch his work. Get therapy, instead. Nearly everyone knows, is related to, or loves someone who is gay. When we find out, we don't just stop loving them. We are all human beings, when will everyone realize that?

You go, TR!!

53. So he's gay???? He & Izzy have the best chemistry on the show, no matter what his sexual orientation is. I hope he's not eliminated off the show, I'd really miss George and his interaction with the rest of the castmates that are left after this season ends. I know lots of gay people and they don't bother me at all, as long as they acknowledge and respect the fact that I'm not gay. You go, George, Luv Ya

54. TR Knight-I saw you on the Ellen Show when you talked about comming out. I am with you guy-I think that it was the best thing you could have done, not for the viewers but for yourself.
Your an actor and genuine young man and it makes no difference if you are gay or not.
The important part is being YOU. I was impressed with your interview with Ellen and I applaued YOU.

55. Who cares join the new millenium. He is a great actor and very cute toooo. some of the nicest people i know are gay. bigwoop.

56. Who cares if he is gay! I think this is the problem with gay people, they seem to have to yell to the world that they are gay, who cares. What ever they do in their bedrooms is their business as long as the people involved agree to it and I don't have to watch it.
There are too many people in the world trying to tell other people how to live and they need to look in the mirror first.
Live and let live.

57. T.R. Knight you are such a kind and good person and it shows even in your acting. You are a great actor and you will go far in life. The homophobic haters need to get over their internal latent homosexual feelings that terrifies them so much. Nothing worse than and internalized latent homosexual person.

Any person who is significant in YOUR life is one hell of a lucky person, Mr. Knight.

You go guy!

I adore you and admire you even more. I was stuck in homophobic hell myself as a nun for too many years...thank god the goddess finally set my head in the correct direction, that I was a good and valuable person because I could LOVE, unlike so many SHARKS on this planet.

58. TR Knight is a great actor. He played his role in Grey's Anatomy wonderfully. I felt saddened when there was rumor of him leaving Greys. I hope he stays on for many many years to come..

59.
More power to TRKnight! He was nonetheless butchy-sexy enough to carry his role in the last segment last night, with two women hot for him. Bravo!

60. TR is a cutie and an OK actor but definitely not beleivable in a male/female relationship role. I never thought one way or another as to his sexual orientation prior to his coming out but it all makes sense now. His role was much better at the beginning of the show as I felt he was dealing with his sexuality. He and Ramirez have absolutely no chemistry and is a yawn story line and he a Heigl are almost laughable a a couple. Let him be gay, find him a BF on the show and let's move on...............
