31. Scientology is a cult, and its founder L. Ron Hubbard was a crappy pulp science fiction writer and diagnosed schizophrenic, who put a bunch of mumbo-jumbo together to start a pseudo-religion. Anybody who falls for Scientology's outer-space-alien nonsense has some screws loose, and probably needs a good psychiatrist.

33. TMZ, get your facts straight before posting about the BBC.
The BBC is a respectable source of information whereas you guys are a bunch of geese.
Perhaps you should report the whole of the incident? Sinister cult people harassing the BBC reporter, his family, friends and even neighbors??
It seems that you are biased towards the cult; is it because you are afraid that they will do to your staff what they did to poor Sweeney?
You guys should stick to Paris Hilton and Britney Spears and leave the serious reporting for capable people.

I have been deconstructing how Scientology tricked this writer, into spending ten years of his life pursuing Hubbard's lies.

regarding Mr Sweeny's encounter, scientology has done the same inciting actions to me, and they too managed to get me angry and then webbed it as the whole story.

I receieved this comment from a recovering scientologist, which is typical:

I just watched the Panorama News on the Internet ... I don't think I have words to say or can even sort out all of my feelings at this point. I mean just tracking down Sweeney while he was interviewing Sean and trying to discredit Shawn was beyond sleeze and slime. I can't even think of words for it for now. 38. Scientology is absolutely a cult. They follow a 'religion' invented by a lunatic sci-fi writer, who happens to be an incredibly horrid writer. Scientology grabs every Hollywood type they can, then they use private information about these public figures lives and literally blackmail them
which enables the cult to extort huge amounts of money from the celebs.
My daughter lives in LA and when I visit it never ceases to amaze me how these cult members chase you down the street just to harass you. I saw the painting on the side of their Anti-Psychiatric building. It reminds of the movie Reefer Madness. Since I am Bi-Polar it disgusts me to see people such as Tom Cruise preventing mentally ill people from seeking much needed care.

43. After watching the documentary the BBC made though, im surprised that all john sweeny did was scream at this guy! I was wanting to hit him about ten min. into the program. especially when the creepy scientology guy cam running over in the middle of an interview he wasn't suppose to know of, with a rap sheet about the guy...come on scientology we all know your game! 44. Arnie Lerma you are my hero. Absolutely right on all accounts. I've followed your story and know full well the lenghths to which the Church of $cientology will sink. Remember this people: What you saw was how $cientology behaves while knowing they're being filmed. Can you possibly IMAGINE how evil they are when the cameras aren't rolling? I could not have held my temper as long as Sweeney did and I, as well as others, have contacted the BBC to show my support for Sweeney.

45. Just the fact that so many people choose to join this cult, Scientology, frightens me. This is history repeating itself; The Third Reich. How could so many people fall for the theory of a science fiction writer who created this cult which he named a "religion' called Scientology??? How the hell do so many celebrities convince themselves that they have "little green men and women" living inside their normal appearing skin???? I think it all comes down to the financial support they give so freely to one another in order to insure the success of each of them. Plain and simply put, it's a business.
