Guess most everyone is either posting elsewhere, are just moved on to other topics. I heard and read that tributes to Jerry Falwell are still ongoing. Actually, it hasn't been that long since he passed away. Wasn't it in April? Some republicans are already predicting A Hillary Victory in the next Presidential election. But a lot can change from now to then.

4502. I think the next election comes down to an issue of whether or not we want to continue with this foolish war! The republicans seem to want to continue, endlessly until Iraq is no longer under any sort of Muslim control. In other words, they want it to become a puppet, US. run, democratic, Christian nation. Uh....yeah.. good luck with that. The repubs are talking about this war lasting for YEARS, if not DECADES! Exit strategy? As far as exit strategy goes, the dems want to pull out immediately and quickly walk away ( haul ass), which will only strengthen Al-Queda and put us back to square one in that region. If this doesn't give the terrorists a green flag ( which it probably will), then maybe square one is a better place to be ( doubt it). We're basically screwed now either way! Does anyone really have hope that things will improve, no matter who wins, in the next election? I don't! As far as Falwell goes, I think he would absolutely RELISH the idea of killing Muslims by the millions! Every thing he seemed to say indicated that his running thought would have been something similar to: "Hey if they're not Christians, blow them up! They're not worthy anyway!" This thinking mirrors what 'the enemy' ( fundamental Muslims) is thinking.

4503. Aloha DC and Bob,
I am aghast at how far out of their so-called 'values' platform the so-called 'Conservative Repubicans' will go! Look at how far from thier base Guiliani is and they seem to eat up his propaganda about 911. Its like that little staged 'INTIMIDATING FORM' is ample enough to get them to sell their souls to their own dimensia! They seem to be waffling about their major talking points. For all the noise that the GOP has made about graff, bigotry, harlotry, perversion and plain 'ole selling one's soul to a heartless program such as the one that is currently bleed the citizenry dry for a war that was initiated by corrupt oil cartels takes me back to when Standard Oil was initiating WWI and WWII as a means of creating the worlds current conglomerations or Oligarchies that spin talking points to convince Americans to want to kill others in the name of self-defense.
The only problem with this agenda of control, on the part of the U.S, is that Americans have been intimidating the crap out of 3rd world nations for decades if not centuries in a way that has caused a knee jerk reactiionary cabal of radicals. that, by the way, we have been arming with modern weaponry. How smart can we get...well, I don't know... why don't you just arm the grannies and the kindergarteners with oozies and find out! The military industrial regime just loves to keep the public hypnotized. I feel as though I am waking up to the reality that Germans did when they began to realize that they had blindly supported a mega-lo-maniac serial killer to represent their higly educated and diverse community. Must the polarization determine out course? Gawd am I pissied!

4504. To tell you the truth, I am not sure what course of action should be taken now. If we are going to pull out of Iraq slowly, then why can't we begin pulling out now? During the Democrat debates, Joe Biden said that their are at least 40,000 besides military personnell that needs to be pulled out as well.

4505. It kind of depends on which tv commentator you listen to as to how the war is going. Some say the surge is working and some say it isn't. Who do we believe? I sure don't want it to go the way of Viet Nam. When we pulled out of Viet Nam, I don't remember the number, but civilians were slaughtered.

4506. At the risk of sounding heartless or curt, we have all sorts of problems here at home that need our attention! Healthcare, rights infringement, judicial, poverty, now we have to worry about our bridges. When are these things going to be addressed. I heard on the tele yesterday, all of us that are screaming for decent health care, some commentator said; which do you want to fix bridges or healthcare, and I replied to the TV...BOTH!!!!!!!!!!!
But the first thing I want, and I want it NOW is withdrawal from Iraq! Get our troops and whoever else we need to pull out, and pull them out NOW!!

4507. While we spend BILLIONS of dollars in the war, out infra-structure literally falls down around and even upon us! And anyone who thinks we can and should run things in the Middle East is either deluded, or just a complete idiot. And to Bob (above), I think that this whole situation makes Viet-Nam look like child's play ( and it most definitely Wasn't!!!). I do not think for a minute that that area will ever be stable! Even if we get out of the war there, I'm sure it will be brought to our front door! Even at the risk of sounding like some sort of war-hawk ( NO WAY!!), I would rather have M-1 Abrahms tanks and destroyers patrolling our wide open boarders here, than stirring up more crap over there! War blows period!!! Even though America was and is built by immigrants, I think we should protect ourselves by closing and patrolling our boarders, while still allowing for strict and stringent immigration and work permits! I have friends who either are, or were illegals and I feel for them, but these are dangerous times and we need to adjust our security here for that reason. It won't stop terrorism by any measure but it's a good start! Sucks to us ( U.S.) right now!!! I just hope that we don't end up becoming a military run state!
Posted at 4:03AM on Aug 6th 2007 by Flogging a Dead Blog
4508. Actually, we already are a military run state! Where do you think the all the politicians are getting all this money from? It's not the taxpayers money that are making them rich! Is it a conspiracy when it is already taking place? Too bad we can't here the truth in political ads like: 'This political ad is brought to you by the friendly folks at General Dynamics! Tank ( intentional) you for your support!'

4510. Hi Della and Paul,
nice to see you both on this site, but can't we all keep the same names so that it feels more familiar? Even though pandora isn't my legal name it helps to use the same names for continuity sake, especially since we have history expressing our pov with each other. This blog was only satisfying because we were able to create common ground about the above matters. I feel as though the diversity of our backgrounds lends itself to a positive and powerful agreement field - coming back here as Paul, Della and Pandora to create open agreement is a dynamic action. I have not bothered to find another blog to camp at because this does not interest me, but having a conversation with you two and possibly Ed, Lenny, Steve_C and oh, lets not forget Elvis and Listen (ha ha) would feel more real than trying to start this conversation over. Also, I am interested in hearing from the college students from Missouri to find out what the mood on Christian campuses is today in regard to the batch of republicans that are vying for the evangelical vote.
The Anglican church is splitting at the seems these days and I can see that there is a mighty shift in the Christian sects because of sexual issues. Is this too racey for you TMZ? still can't understand why you would pull a post off of this site, while allowing Elvis to spew such tirades of hatred.
Anyone else here getting censored, and if so, does it make any sense to you? there was so much hatred coming from other posters here, so I am not sure what it is that sets the wizard of oz off - why would TMZ allow one brand of hatred over another? And why would they let Listen spam this site?
Anyway, nice to read your pov, let me know if you were here previously by another name so I can feel a little oriented or maybe I should just get busy again. very productive over here these days and my prayers are getting answered and some are still hatching. aloha

4511. -Flogging a Dead Blog-
Oh, I hear every word you are saying!
What do you think of the Bill just passed and signed by the president, extending Intel Survelleince of Phone calls and Emails?
Isn't it interesting that everyone they interviewed on TV said they agree with it, that they have nothing to hide, and that if allowing the government to spy on our calls and emails from overseas makes it safer for us,then go ahead.
Isn't freedom a wonderful thing?

4512. Ok Pandora,
if you want me to use my own name, even tho I have never been all that fond of it, the name Della, I will use it..When I came back on board, I used DC, but I do use that one on other sites, because I felt somewhat targetted for being a woman on those, Like being call the "B" word, and one time even a "ho" . Some site bloggers can get vicious when you disagree with them.
You mentioned Paul. What username has he been using?
Bob has been posting some, in response to my posts, etc.
In my monthly Christian magazine, they had an article on Jerry Falwell, and speculated on how he would comment on the recent presidential candidate debates...They couldn't understand what all the squabble is on Mitt Romney running for office in Mass. as a Pro-choice candidate, and now running as a pro-Life.
Their comment was that JF would praise the current choice, and make little of the fact that when Romney ran for office in Mass. that was in the past.

4514. Oh lookie, another Brainless Spammer who has only enough balls to sign as 'Anonymous'- probably an actively Alcoholic one too! I just want to comment on idiots like these people who have ZERO to say and obviously, nothing ever to add! They are even worse than the idiots who only want to wait around for a new story to drop on TMZ, only to say something really helpful like: 'First bitches!'-at least that has an excuse of being an Obsessive/ Compulsive sort of game that makes them somehow feel important and noticed- you aren't! You can always guarantee that these people are also too stupid to have anything valid to say, it's a given! But unlike the OCD fools playing the 'first game', it always seems that the religious nuts seem to think that they will get better in their god's graces by mindlessly trying to force their agenda down people's throats. I can guarantee that most of these people are more along the lines mentally of being borderline schizophrenics, if not full on edging into psychosis! They are the same people who actually 'Listen' ( Yes, to the A-hole known as 'Listen', this is for you!!!) to the little voices in their heads. These people are often not only a danger to themselves, but often a danger to others when they get this obsessive! Seriously, this is how things work. It's one thing to worship and pray to a god, but it's a whole lot different to think that you are having full on conversations with god! I would rather read the rantings of someone like the hate spewing 'elvis' leaving one of his nasty, trademark Hate Comments! At least that idiot has something to contribute, even if it is totally negative! But you spammers, especially the religious ones, you have nothing to add, no value, and you give regular people of faith a Bad Name! You waste people's time and stink up the internet with your obsessive stupidity. Like the last idiot, why don't you actually tell us something useful about what you are trying to say, instead of just merely regurgitating something that no one is going to read! No, you just try to shove your brainless spamming down people's throats with out anything to say, or valid point to share! You are all worthless idiots, who need to seek out a thorough mental health evaluation! Go away until you have something to say! ..... /rant!

4515. Ok, so now that my rant against Brainless Spammers is fading..... So Della, we've talked in the past and your beautiful and thoughtful evaluation of our current situation is appreciated! A valid person, with a valid point that people like me come here to learn from. As far as wiretapping and our collective loss of freedom goes, I believe it is a symptom of what our current society is becoming- a state where our freedoms are slowly eroded to a point of becoming a society that is no longer a free place to exchange ideas without the fear of government intervention. Many people still foolishly believe that the government is not abusing its' power to control and monitor the current 'zietgiest' of the population. With today's search engine abilities, it is an easy task for anyone, especially the government, to hack into anyone's information, for often dubious purposes. But seeing how many of the current threats use and abuse the internet as a rally point, it's is somewhat understandable that the government would want the freedom to exploit this new medium. Much of the information that the government has gathered about terrorists and the like were gathered using some very complex and intensive measures that our Founding Fathers could never have envisioned. As Della said, most of us are responsible citizens with nothing to hide, but given the track record of our current government, this power WILL BE ABUSED! But what are the alternatives? Many attacks have been thwarted using these same means. After watching the Screaming Match on CSPAN over this debate, it becomes obvious that this is the stock and trade of what they are after- total control of every little thing in our lives, no matter how innocuous. Call it paranoia, but when I accidentally clicked onto what was obviously a terroristic, anti-American site, I became uniquely aware that someone was probably watching every move and keystroke I made. I quickly left, but still wondered just who is watching these sites, and believe me they are! What price is the loss of freedom? When the Military Industrial Complex and the government have BILLIONS at stake keeping this war going in order to line their pockets, do you think they aren't watching? And they will do anything to keep this gravy train going! ANYTHING! Even writing the word 'Al-Qeada' here is likely to bring this site up on the radar using a simple key-word search. So just how far are we willing to go, when without this tool, there would have already been a lot more that would have taken place. The government is in the game of information gathering and people would be amazed at just how much the government knows and could find out about anyone of its' citizens and especially people of interest.
As far as people like Mitt Romney go, don't EVER bank on political promises being keep as they were originally stated somewhere in a debate. This has already been proven to be false, many times over! "No New Taxes!", remember that? One needs to carefully look at a candidate's past actions and intentions to get any real idea of what they are actually saying. What they say in a political speech is almost never how things will turn out.
So, this blog started from a picture of a Teletubby vs. Jerry Falwell's legacy and has grown into one of the more thought provoking blogs out there! No matter what your views of the man are, we can thank him and TMZ for providing such a good place for this sort of wide open discourse! Now if we can only keep idiots with nothing to say, like 'Listen' and this latest incarnation named 'Anonymous' from stinking up this and other blogs with useless spamming and wasting of space, maybe we can get somewhere. If you have something to say, SAY IT!!!! If not, then go back to wasting people's time on other sites by posting pictures of your dog or baby wearing a hat and sunglasses! And if the little voices in your head and your obvious OCD simply compels you to drop spam and religious passages as your small brain sees fit, then please at least be willing to discuss why they are so relevant! The last time I checked, when a preacher discusses various passages, they actually discuss what is so important about those particular passages. Maybe you might actually have a valid point, but for now, you are just fools with nothing to add to the discussion, so please go elsewhere to be a fool!
