Paris' Mom to Babwa -- Learn from Paris!

Click to return to TMZParis Hilton's mother Kathy took to the airwaves -- speaking through the oracle that is Barbara Walters on this morning's "The View" -- urging "young people who look up" to Paris to "learn" from her DUI arrest and impending imprisonment.

Babwa, friends with Kathy and husband "Ricky" for years, said she spoke to Mama Hilton yesterday, and read a brief statement from the convicted socialite's mom. "We can only hope that something positive will come out of this," said Walters for Kathy. "Hopefully the young people who look up to people like Paris can learn from this." Not to mention her videos.

Guest co-host, "D-lister" Kathy Griffin shot back at Babwa and the Hiltons, "If the 'Free Paris' T-shirts were more popular, she'd be singing a different tune."

31. . Surprised Kathy was allowed onto the set! I would have watched had I known. Even those who do not enjoy her brand of humor have to admit, she isn't shy about the obvious.

32. I hope Kathy Hilton and Paris learn from this----they are the ones who needed a reality check. They had every chance to avoid this, and felt they were too special to follow the rules.

34. Kathy someone should tell you the TRUTH ~ you are delusional! WHY would anyone look up to Paris? Because she did a porn tape? Because she is stupider than a bag of rocks? Because she drives drunk? Because she breaks probation? Because she will sleep with ANYone/thing? Because she doesn't have ONE worthwhile accomplishment to her name? Because she sets herself up for pantiless crotch shots? Because she is vulgar and crude and inappropriate? NO ONE looks up to Paris, and your attempts at damage control should start with YOU! (Your tantrum in court was idiotically absurd!)

37. Paris Hilton is awful and apparently she learned it from her parents. I hope that people do not look up to her. She is not America's princess. She behaves like an animal and has no conscience.

38. I fear the only thing my daughter could learn from Paris is how to drink and driver better next time and not get caught. Thank goodness she is not interested in learning or looking up to this troubled woman. I noticed many, even Paris's own mother make references to Paris as if she were in her teens. She is a woman fast approaching 30? ( " Mom she is old! " :)

There is almost nothing to add. You said it all.

Rich people support each other. Trump has come out for Paris. Baba loves to imagine that she has all these very rich friends when her father was just a nightclub owner in New Jersey. She wants to be an "aristocrat." Look at her - the little cutesy way she acts and pretends to faint at something bawdy. So fake.

I feel sorry for any kid who looks up to Paris. She is a media creation. Her parents do seem nice, however. They just can't control Paris.

41. Barbra is not supporting Kathy Hilton by giving her statement air time, as a thousand other news organizations would be foaming at the mouth to get this statement. It's a scoop. Barbara is an old school reporter who lets the story present itself, without her opinion to color your conclusions. Barbara CAN give an opinion, as it's The View, as opposed to news reporting, but doesn't, as Paris has already been suitably punished and Barbara is too wise to jump on any old bandwagon. You've got to appreciate that she did give you the story. News reporters are expected to remain objective. You need to understand the basic priniciples of journalism, as opposed to gossip sites, which are completely different.

42. Re: Paris.
Has she not filed a appeal? Soooooo just what lesson is to be learned here? ( in her mothers eyes) I'm confused by the desperation and denial these people seem to live in.

43. If Babwa gave her opinion, and you can bet she has one, no one would bring her their stories. It's about trust. With this story, the statement speaks for itself, and Babwa knows it.

44. what an insult to the term "American princess", keep the word "our" out of it. Not too many Americans think of her in positive light. Your probably one of the 3 people who think that, the rest of us want her to go away and never come back!!!!
As far as Kathy Hilton, did you ever hear the term "the load that should have been swallowed" , this was probably coined after they had Paris.

45. It's all about karma. I hope Paris can learn from this and do something good with it. At the moment you are no role model for young women but that can change. After your prison time get out there and do something valuable for kids and humanity. We are all supposed to learn something from adversity. It can make you strong. Debbie in Colorado
