Celebrity Justice
Paris Drops Appeal

Paris HiltonUPDATE: Paris' lawyer has now officially filed a document with the court, abandoning her appeal of the sentence. Documents to follow shortly.

Courthouse sources tell TMZ that Paris Hilton has officially decided to drop her probation violation appeal.

We're told Hilton's lawyer had planned to file an appeal at 1:30 PM today in Judge Michael Sauer's courtroom. Sauer is the one who sentenced Hilton to 45 days in jail.

But we're told this morning, celeb attorney Richard Hutton had one of his peeps phone the court and say nevermind.

What's behind all this? Yesterday, Hutton met with Paris and informed her that the Sheriff has agreed to reduce the amount of time she'll have to serve to 23 days. The Sheriff has also agreed to put her in a celebrity cell, away from the general population.

Apparently, Paris feels her lawyer has gotten her the best break she can possibly get. So the intended appeal will not materialize and Paris will do the time.

62. Oh please, give me a break. She made herself a "quasi" celebrity! No special treatment should be allowed at all. She should have thought about her actions..... if this is true, it is special treatment and it is disgusting.

63. "What a bunch of crap. She should go into general population. That's the only place she might learn something. She is NOT special, she just thinks she is. She should do the full 45 days too." Posted at 2:30PM on May 17th 2007 by GSDSRULES

I totally agree. It pisses me off that they even HAVE "celebrity" cells! Screw them... they break the law, they should be treated just like everyone else.

64. I'm not sure if her lawyers' won't find a way to get it cut again. She needs to serve the time just to get some sleep. She seems to pose and party 24 hours a day. Plluse time and a half on weekends! I wanna be rich too...

65. This little twat has her sentence reduced by the SHERIFF for good behavior before she even steps foot in jail??????? I think everyone should write a letter to the "bought off Sheriff" and to the Mayor of that sucking city. All they are doing is showing that Daddy's money is more important to them than seeing justice served... Daddy probably promised to "donate money" to the Sheriffs re-election campaign and also to others within that $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ hungry so called justice system.
I also agree with other posters about boycotting anything Hilton or any product this little bitch is endorsing. Where is the organization "Mothers against drunk drivers" (MADD) when they are needed?? They were probably already contacted by mommy and daddy hilton and offered a really big donation if they stayed out of this one against thier little pile of puke. BOYCOTT ALL PRODUCTS parasite endorses, and WRITE LETTERS TO THE SHERIFF and MAYOR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

66. I said it before and I will say it again, by the time she reports there on the 5th, mark my words she will spend hours there, not days, just like the girl from Lost (I think). They released her within hours due to "overcrowding"

If they are reducing her time before she even walks in the door. If she does serve any time, she will get (at least) half knocked off of the 23 days for good behavior.

By the time the 5th rolls around, she will serve no time

67. PEOPLE!!! WE SHOULDNT BE SURPRISED THAT ITS GONNA END LIKE THIS:

1. She'll probably AT THAT....wont even serve ALL 23 days;

2. She'll come out of jail and this incident will ABSOLUTELY make her MORE (thats a lot to say) famous;

3. No way is she gonna ever change her personality. Push comes to shove, she is a HILTON and MONEY TALKS BULL***T WALKS; Evidently she is such an airhead, her peoples will tell her to PORTRAY as if this is a LEARNING LESSON.......NOTTTTT!!

IM SO SICK OF THIS! I CANNOT COMMENT NOR EVEN PUT TIME INTO THIS...ITS GETTING BORING AND NOT TO MENTION SOOOOOO PREDICTABLE.

IT IS WHAT IT IS, HOW IT IS, BECAUSE IT IS.....LETS FACE IT, WE, THE PEOPLE, LIVING THE REAL LIFE IN THE REAL WORLD, WE KNOW LIFE IS SOMETIMES A BITCH.

TAKE CARE YALL!!!

They do do it for others. Once you are sentenced and show up normally a person spends at the most, half their time.

69. If I were the judge, I would charge the Sheriff with Contempt of Court and sentence HIM to 45 days in jail, as well as reinstating Paris' original 45-day sentence. That asshole sheriff needs to be bitch-slapped until he's thinking clearly again; he should also be investigated for being in the Hilton's pocket.

70. If I were the sentencing judge, I'd be hopping mad that a sheriff and attorney effectively reduced the sentence outside the judicial process

Hey, uh, Tracy, you know that Bush had a DUI and, if I remember correctly, Cheney had two... Its not a political statement, its a statement of fact.

74. We give her the publicity and attention. Boycott is right. The opposite of love is not hate, it's indifference. Pretend she's not there.

75. What is "celebrity cell" like? Does it look like a regular cell or fancier?

Does she still have to do strip search or she doesn't have to do all the crap and she got to be away from the general population?
