Jessica Simpson & John Mayer It appears that the epic romance of Jessica Simpson and John Mayer has run its course. Please ... contain your surprise.

As first reported by Perez Hilton, Jess and John have indeed split. TMZ cameras caught a solo Mayer at NYC hotspot Stereo last night, looking just fine on his own. Get in line ladies, he's single again.

As for the reason for the, er, bustup, a rep for John refused to comment on the Grammy winner's personal life, as did Jess' rep.

Could it be because he's on the Time 100 Most Influential list having conversations with presidential hopeful John Edwards while she's pushing her hair extensions? Hmmm...

Some things just weren't meant to last.

25. Well you know what, Jessica's breast are actually REAL and well the tan is another story. I am so tired of everyone thinking that Jess is just some dumb blonde!!! Do you really think the John would have stuck with her for this long if he knew the same!!??? John is smart and Jess or any other girl he decides to date should be atleast half as intelligent as he is before he will even pay close attention to them! But I am glad that things have played out so you all can go back to your own lives again.

Has anybody ever SEEN a video/interview of either of them, certainly not excluding the most horrendous Newlyweds, but she is simply ONLY a pretty package, at least in my opinion... which of course makes no difference whatsoever, haha...... BUT my point is, John is an absolutely BRILLIANT man. Every tv interview i've ever seen on him, he's hillarious and intimidatingly smart.... i could not be more happy about this split. he deserves somebody as intelligent, not to mention TALENTED, as him. Either way, God bless both of 'em.......

28. 21/JC I agree with you 100 percent. I was so turned off by seeing John with Jessica that I stopped listening to his music. Now I wish I would have purchased tickets to see John perform at the Hollywood Bowl.

30. Did anyone really think it was gonna last? Not that I am a fan of either of them, never saw them as a couple.
