Jessica Simpson & John Mayer It appears that the epic romance of Jessica Simpson and John Mayer has run its course. Please ... contain your surprise.

As first reported by Perez Hilton, Jess and John have indeed split. TMZ cameras caught a solo Mayer at NYC hotspot Stereo last night, looking just fine on his own. Get in line ladies, he's single again.

As for the reason for the, er, bustup, a rep for John refused to comment on the Grammy winner's personal life, as did Jess' rep.

Could it be because he's on the Time 100 Most Influential list having conversations with presidential hopeful John Edwards while she's pushing her hair extensions? Hmmm...

Some things just weren't meant to last.

I have naturally light brown skin and I wear sexy low cut tops at times, but I never dress like a porn star or whore like Jessica and I do not have to dye my hair blonde to be attractive. I like to leave somethings to the imagination. I have a technical degree and make a good living. The TMZ users are not jealous of Jessica. We are speaking our opinions. When celebrities deserve praise, TMZ users give praise. When celebrities deserve negative comments like Jessica, we give negative comments. The only people that are jealous of Jessica are orange porn stars and people with low self esteem. Jessica has nothing to offer except the exposure of her boobs. She has no talent, can't act, and her music is horrible. The bottom line is Jessica claim to fame is being a blonde, self absorbed, sloppy ditz. She is 27 years old now and there will be a younger blonde ditz with big boobs to take her place.

107. We all know the cute 18 or 19 year old blonde ditz with boobs. But it's not cute anymore when the blonde ditz with boobs is 27 years old and looks like an orange porn star. Jessica already dyed her hair back to blonde because she's not that attractive as a brunette, so she hopes blonde will improve her looks. Jessica made millions with her bad movies and music. It goes to show you that you can have no talent and make millions in Hollywood. Jessica you are pushing 30 and a younger blonde ditz with boobs will replace you. I suggest you quit going on expensive shopping sprees and save your money because your career is over.

110. Jealous of Jessica Simpson? You must be kidding. I wouldn't trade places with that broad for even a minute. Her family is whack especially her pervy dad. They keep pimping her out for movies and projects that she really has no aptitude for because she is/was the family cash cow. She changes her look every other week because she really has no clue as to who she is. She will hook back up with John Mayer if he so much a texts because she has no backbone or self esteem. Even if they get back for random hookups, I doubt he would ever marry her. You think Nick was embarrassed by Jess's ditziness, you can only imagine how John's well educated East Coast parents would react.

The best thing that could happen for her would be if she somehow reconciled with Nick. Good for her, bad for him because I don't he would be happy and in all honesty if might even be a career killer for him.
