Spelling it out
Candy to Joe Francis: Cry Me a River

Candy Spelling, Joe FrancisDear Joe,

As the headlines about you changed -- to scream "imprisoned" and "U.S. marshals" instead of "filmmaker" and "entrepreneur," you respond by crying, wailing and seeing yourself as a victim. Bad move. Today's headlines call you a "crybaby."

You blew it, Joe. Instead of jumping from party to party, you're being shuffled from one prison to another. And no one feels sorry for you. The flatterers and entourages have moved on. They have short attention spans. They're hanging on to someone else and will take advantage of the new "temp celebrity" as long as it lasts.

The only redeeming factor is reading that you have been calling home every day from prison. When things are looking bleak, it sounds like you've found that you can get some perspective from the reliable people at home. Maybe you're realizing these are the only people who really care about you.

Your world has changed, and you're the poster boy for what can happen when boys go wild. Your every move and every emotion are still being reported, but not the way you want. It's time for some dignity. At least it might prevent you from being forever defined as a crybaby.

Sincerely,

Candy Spelling

151. She did not have to write this about him since she does not know him. I will say she must have done something right with her two kids, though because even though they have done their things, their real life is one of privlege, they have not been no where near some of the people out here today. TORI always wore her drawers (panties) and never had a DWI. her brother never had a drug scandal .

154. So Candy it sounds like people are saying to stay out of other people's business because you are not qualifyed to give advice. That you can't take care of your own life. If you want to give advice do what Dear Abby has done let people ask you for it!!!!!

156. I say Candy Spelling was right on !! Today's morals have gone to the perverbial dogs ! This person deserves everything he gets and more, the sniveling little letch ! All of you young women should look at this guy and learn the lesson. Unfortunately, you will probably laugh it off and go on to make the same mistakes as before. Sexual acting out does not give you self respect or the respect of your peers, you end up being the butt of the "gentlemen's" dirty jokes and end up being sorry for what you did. Wake up and smell the coffee, these type of guys are only out for themselves and who they ruin is not only not an issue, it is not even thought about, which is worse. It is to bad our society has been degraded to this point, to bad we no longer have Ladies and Gentlemen, but dirty little minds as well as filthy mouths. How proud you must be !! How very pleasant !
So you "Ladies and Gentlemen" continue to take our society right down the road to ruin and at the end of the road, look back to see if it was all worth it . And to those of you who LOVE to use the "F" bomb, think of the fact that you are degrading a beautiful act of love and you will never look at that particular word the same again. This person ( you certainly can't refer to him as a man) and any like him should pay breaking the law.

158. What I'm getting so far (from the gossip) in here surrounding Candy's treatment of her own daughter is that she did not enable.( well other then a million dollar weddng that lasted 14 months) This seems to have made her a villain to the young & spoiled!

159. I'm very glad that someone like Candy Spelling with a name in the society can write something like this to Joe Francis. This lady has class, she raised two wonderful children, who by the way are more priviledged than any brats out there, but you would never hear anything negative about them from the news or tabloids. I had a chance to see her son while vactioning in Las Vegas at the Hilton Grand Vacations Club. He was there sun bathing looking very handsome, quiet well mannered and no hint that he was a celebrity.
Joe Francis is just one of those punks who gained notoriety by showing disgusting, tasteless and degrading videos of young girls. Not realizing that someday these will all come back to haunt him.

161. Open Letter To The Industry:

There are more than a few of Joe Francis' Plants (employees and friends of his) who are making personal attacks on Candy Spelling for exposing the truth here!!! Everyone is well aware of who you are, and why you are posting. The Paris Hilton's...Lindsey Lohan's, Britney Spears' and Joe Francis' of the world...are making a mockery of the entertainment industry. As a mother who has experienced seeing her own daughter led in the wrong direction, Mrs. Spelling is more than qualified to speak about, and to, this subject.

There needs to be a crackdown in this industry, from agents to executives, producers, and advertisers, against actors, actresses and other entertainers (and fame seekers) who have chosen a destructive lifestyle and threaten to pull other talented people (many green behind the ears, with them). There is a lot of peer pressure that is being focused on young and up and coming talent. The attitude is, either you do drugs with us...drink with us...and sleep around (for our personal amusement)...or certain doors, socially and career wise, will be closed to you. As a result, many entertainers give in, fearing that these individuals who are pressuring them, do have the power to blacklist them...and to a certain degree, they do. This "Clicky" environment is a dangerous one...much like out of control fraternity's managing to go unchecked...because they have the money, presumed power, family or personal influence and fame to create their own paradigm...a psuedo Matrix if you will, where anything is possible...even those things that are immoral or illegal--from sex with porn stars to access to the deadliest drugs, both prescription medications and illegal drugs, etc. Hence, we are seeing more and more incidents, where bad behavior...some life threatening...is being met with reward, rather than stern rebuke, as it should be.

It is time for "The Powers That Be" in the industry invoke what amounts to a mass intervention...one that will put those who are acting up on notice: If this unacceptable behavior continues, you will not be working for us any longer. No more movie deals, no more television shows, no more record deals, no more endorsement deals, no more magazine covers, no media coverage...and hence, no more money!!!

We have gone far too long without the old "Studio System" in place...and thus, I strongly advise a return to the Studio System policies before it is too late...and such unethical activities by the likes of Joe Francis, Paris Hilton, Lindsey Lohan and Britney Spears, etc.--is met with government sanctioned actions against the entertainment industry in ways we cannot possibly imagine or foresee. Soon, as with Anna Nicole's untimely passing, I fear there will be others--and when this occures, the public, media and government backlash will begin...and the industry will wish that it had listened to Mrs. Spelling when it had the collective chance to act on these issues internally!!!

162. I like Candy's letters - she is telling it like it is. Maybe she is testing the waters to find a column to write for and if that is the case, I say go for it. She says what many of us are thinking. Don't hate just because she is rich, she makes valid points!

163. #170 - GREAT post. You made very valid points that should be taken very seriously by the entertainment industry.

Thanks!

164. Paris Hilton, yes, but Candy Spelling writing a letter to Joe Francis? I would doubt she even knows who he is. I suspect this is just a letter someone wrote posing as her in order to get it picked up.

165. Oh, great fun! Candy and Joe feuding was interesting, but reading these posts has been far more amusing. If Candy is indeed writing for TMZ, she or TMZ should have made that clear.
