OJ Simpson's Suit Suit

TMZ has triggered a legal war by breaking the story that a sports memorabilia guy is trying to peddle the suit that OJ Simpson wore when he heard the improbable words, "not guilty."

David Cook, the lawyer for Fred Goldman (father of the man Simpson slaughtered), filed legal papers Monday in Santa Monica asking a judge to grab that suit.

As TMZ first reported, Bruce Formong, a sports memorabilia dealer, was trying to sell the suit, shirt and tie for $25,000. Alfred Beardsley, another sports memorabilia dealer, has contacted Goldman and said he will be taking possession of the suit. Beardsley told TMZ on Friday he believes he could turn around and sell it for $100,000.

Cook tells TMZ he's "suspicious" that Simpson is behind the suit sale. Cook is asking for an order that the suit be turned over to the L.A. County Sheriff's Department. The Sheriff is responsible for enforcing court judgments. You'll recall Simpson owes the Goldmans in excess of $30 mil.

Cook says if the suit has been sold, he'll ask the judge to force the seller to turn over the loot.

UPDATE: TMZ just got off the phone with Alfred Beardsley. He said he had a conference call this morning with Cook and Kim Goldman. Beardsley says he plans to acquire the suit, and the trio talked about the Goldmans getting a percentage of the sale to help satisfy the outstanding judgment. The court could engineer the ground rules tomorrow.

80. I cannot believe how reliant on race some of you are. What? You can't step out of your own skin for a minute and view the world just as a human being?
The Goldman's sound like money hungry grubbers, that's it. If OJ would have been convicted in a criminal court THEN they would have a legitimate reason to harrass him for money. But they flagrantly defy tha LAW by constantly harrassing OJ's finances just because they THINK he did it. It is an abomination to the law that they were granted a conviction in a civil lawsuit against OJ when he had already been found not guilty in a criminal court. Total disrespect for the courts on the part of the Goldmans. If they are going to sue or harrass anyone it should be the courts that failed to convict OJ!

81. The Goldmans need to give it up. It is a tragedy what happened to their son but Goldman and his weird daughter are just money hungry. I don't see Nicole's family going to such lenghts to keep themselves in the public eye. OJ has to live with himself.

Slavery didn't end 150 years ago.

I keep hearing about these white men who snatch young women, usually white women, off the streets and chain them in basements of their homes. Keeping them for years as sex slaves. These White Guys go to work, have wives upstairs, sometimes the wives participate in this, they have kids too, and functions in their homes all the while a young woman is chained in a box or to a wall being used for sex and beaten for years. This happen in Europe too.

So, White people slavery obviously did not end 150 years ago. You are just doing it to your own now.

83. I feel OJ got away with 2 murders, and that the Goldman family has every right to collect every single dollar they can from him. And Nicole's family. OJ destroyed 2 families, and he taunts, and harrasses these families on a daily basis. He knows what his judgement is, and he continuely tries to make money to live the high life for himself. He is an evil man. He takes pleasure in hurting, disrupting,taunting, and torturing these families like a sadist. He should live on his SS like other old people. This is another "rich" mans justice. If this man slaughtered my son or daughter, I wouldn't rest one day as long as I had breathe in my body, to stop him from living the rich and famous lifestyle. Goldman a golddigger??? Man, you must be the one hiding the knife!! I pray for both of these families, and also that someday the system finds the proof need to put OJ where he so justifiable belongs. He may well have been spared that fate in this life, but he will have an eternal fate to pay someday!!

84. I don't think it matters how much money this dealer gets for the suit, if it isn't being sold for OJ then Goldman isn't entitled to it. To me when someone is found not guilty by a court of Law, that should end it, I don't know how you can be found guilty in a civil suit and wind up broke for the rest of your life because a jury of people afraid to find OJ not guilty said so. Is Fred Goldman working yet? He aquit his job right after the trial to go on radio and talk about murders, he lasted about a week, ever since he is stalking OJ looking for money. It's getting old, he didn't talk to his son for 5 years before the murder, how about that? I don' know if OJ did it or not, I do know that Goldman should get on with his life, he really looks desperate for money. OJ has money no matter what so what's the point?

85. How can anyone think this is about money! This mans son was killed and O.J. was convicted in a civil court. HE has refused to pay the judgement and has flagrantly stated he would never pay the Goldmans a cent. He is hiding assets, lying and conning to keep any assets he has from them. This man is evil. He should make every effort to pay these people. It is not about money it is about principal. While I accept that the man was found not guilty ( not the same thing as innocent) I believe he butchered those people. I watched every day of that trial when it was on. And I know that Mr. Goldman is on a mission to see that his son gets justice in the only way that he can by making sure that O.J. never forgets that he is watching and will do all that he can to make him live up to the judgement that was ordered by the courts. And as far as the relationship between Ron and his father that is totally irrelavant, who among us has not had issues with people we love, and , given time we resolve them. We never stop loving them or in this case being their parent. O.J. took away from the Goldman family the time and opportunity to mend any hurt feelings or anger they may have had. O.J. will be burning in hell if he does not own up to what he has done and make amends in any way that he can for the evil, hurtful things he has done to the Goldmans, the Simpsons and his own children for Gods sake. You keep going Mr. Goldman- get all you can out of that murderer and never ever let him forget. Those who say Goldman should get on with your life- Hah- have any of you ever lost a child- there is no such thing- life is NEVER the same to get on with. And RACE- how in the hell can this be about race. O.J. Simpson was married to a whit woman and has 1/2 white children and from what is reported he continues to date white women. He seems to have no issue with race unless he need to use it to get out of trouble or to threaten to sue a restaurant owner for discrimination. What a joke! He is a disgusting man. And good for that restaurant owner. It is about time people stood up to him and said enough- you are not welcome in my establishment or in my community. "If I did It" Yeah hopefully that book will NEVER, Never get printed or distributed- it would only give him an audience that he does not deserve- regardless of who would get the proceeds from its sale. Ron and Nicole will not rest in peace until this man is held accountable in some way shape or form and I hope they haunt him every day and night of his life!

88. All this about a suit that is being sold? OJ was proven not guilty , but not innocent therefore he has to pay the judgment set by the law . All races have their own horrific history that will never be forgotten but life goes on through the children. 90. I feel bad for the Goldman family, but they really are coming across like money grubbers. They are in debt because of their fight to win money in the civil suit. The initial case was fought by the prosecution and paid for by the tax payers of California.

Their plight for money is getting old and making them look bad. They need to just go away, their 5 minutes is up.
