Paula Smashes Schnozz Trying to "Avoid" Chihuahua

Wait 'til Simon hears about this! As first reported by "EXTRA," ever loopy "American Idol" judge Paula Abdul broke her nose over the weekend, when she tripped while trying to avoid stepping on her dog -- a large, threatening, fear-instilling chihuahua named Tulip. (We kid, of course.)

Though she wasn't hospitalized, "EXTRA" says Abdul did suffer the nose-mashing fate just days before the live finale of "Idol." There's no indication that she'll be missing the big event, or that she'll have to wear any protective headgear -- to avoid Cowell's no doubt stinging barbs.

When TMZ contacted Abdul's rep, Howard Bragman, about the accident, all he would say is, "I didn't trip her!"

A spokesperson for FOX had no comment.

31. This would be her 2nd nose job, peeps...she used to be kinda funny on AI, now it's like all her comments are phony and uninspired, and she only favors the guys, like a dumbass..

She was wasted...there's no way you trip over a dog and break your flippin' schnozzola like that! AI needs to stage an intervention STAT

32. I'd make fun of Paula, but I broke my big toe while trying not to step on my cat once. Walking up the stairs at night w/no light on, I thought there was one more step, but there wasn't & my cat was there. I lunged forward to avoid him, and snap my toe broke, which is my only broken bone ever.

Hey, no one wants to hurt their pets. Lord knows my chihuahua would break a lot easier than my bit old cat. Hopefully Paula and her chi are both ok.

Ack...a nice comment on TMZ for once from me. :)

33. I dunno...Paula very well could have been sober while doing this. I know I posted my experience with breaking a bone while tripping over a cat. I'm pretty sure I was sober at the time (though it was almost 10 years ago, so I can't say for sure...the fun of being in one's 20s). I know my pets have tried to trip me many, many, many, many times...on a daily basis. So, in theory, she could have been sober.

34. I love Paula, but come on trip over her little dog! Get help fast, and don't take those pain medicaton the doctors offer you. I dont think you need anymore pain meds.

38. i happen to have a little chihuahua (6 pounds) and i can't even count the times i've fallen trying to avoid stepping on him. they want to be with you at all times. plus i don't even drink & neither does paula!!!!!

41. Paula Abdulo is nice. She is anice girl. Never had a diva attitude. Never got in th emedia faces.

She is non-threatenting or digusting to people.
Paula has had some bad luck in love-Emilo Extevez, Bo Brinkman. She has had some bad luck in her health.
PAULA NEEDS HELP with um... something. I do not doubt that she is not always here on Earth if you know what I mean.

43. She broke her already rhinoplastied nose. She doesn't drink, remember! So it must have been some drug that didn't sit well with her. Although I think she had been spoken to by somebody high up the toilet chain of command at Fox, because she's been unusually subdued and quiet this year. And she had only one week to remain 'good'.
