Paul McCartney: "Idol" Finale No-Show?

Paul McCartney is lashing back against rumors that he stood-up the "American Idol" finale last night (which was attended by his ex Heather Mills), after reports claim he screwed producers by backing out at the last minute.

In an exclusive statement to TMZ, McCartney's rep slammed the idle chatter, claiming that "Paul was never scheduled or approached to appear on the Idol finale." The rep added, "Even if he were, he likely would've needed to decline as he is in the throes of promoting the June 5th release of his new album. With that in mind, it would likely make it difficult to refer to him as a no-show."

Calls to "Idol" reps were not immediately returned.

You heard the news today, oh boy.

17. It was a rumor that started in the beginning of the American Idol season. I did not want to miss seeing Paul on American Idol so I Goggled it, and reports stated that it was a false rumor, and no producers ever approached Paul to appear on American Idol. Paul is the most talented and genuine celebrity you can find.

19. The Beatles made over 100 great songs. The Beatles are the greatest band in history. It should not be a surprise that so many Idol contestants sang The Beatles songs on American Idol. It has been reported on the Internet that Paul was never approached by the American Idol producers to appear on the show. I love Paul; he’s the greatest celebrity, musician and song writer in history.

24. Mccartney would just be lowering himself if he appeared on American Idol. THis show is nothing moire than a musical Jerry Springer with Cowell and others saying the most low class things to people that they can muster. I am not a regulr viewer of this show and never will be. I thought it cheapened Elvis to put that video of him on this show singing with Celine Dione. Sure Celine is good, But none compare to Elvis and also Paul and the Beatles .Unless you are Little RIchard or Bo Diddley, or one of the rock originators. . Stay away, Paul, THe public respects your artistic endeavors, Dont join this toilet bowl show, not for one minute,

Pay attention; Paul does not own the songs; Michael Jackson does. He bought the rights years ago.

27. If his ex wife, ugly Heather Mills was there, then he should not have gone anywhere she is. Paul was a great husband and dad and he married a low life tramp out for his money with an ugly smile and face add to that one leg, and he made her a princess with big bucks. I'd never want to see her if I were him.. and I wasn't married to her.. I never want to see her ugly lyging face again. PAUL IS A GOOD MAN AND DAD AND HUSBAND... if she was there or going to be there .. no one should invite him to suffer being around Mills mania.

28. I was expecting him to come out during that medley at the end. The show needed someone interesting to come out and they just didn't do it. Bette Midler was awful. It seems like they had a perfect finale last year. I think they knew they couldn't top that and didn't even try to make the show decent. A weeks old taped piece by Gwen Stefani, that's lame.

29. What better way to promote "the June 5th release of his new album," than to appear on the number one music-related show on American television? Regardless of anyone's opinion of the show's quality, math is math. That sounds fishy.

30. Glad this recently exposed Jerk and Abusive to a Disabled Woman, declared life long pothead and "money cant buy me love" phoney didnt appear. He's getting weird with old age and a real power tripper.

Stick to the old stuff Paul, we dont need anything new from you. I gave up after Wings and so did apparently you.

You need another Mommy like you had with Linda, you have never been the same since her passing and you treated Heather like a kid sister. Shameful
