Alcohol Agency Probes Lohan Caper

The agency that regulates alcoholic beverages in California has contacted the Beverly Hills Police Department to determine if there's evidence that Lindsay Lohan or other minors were illegally served alcohol the night of the crash.

As TMZ reported, in the hours before Lohan crashed her car, she was partying at a West Hollywood nightspot -- Les Deux. TMZ has video of Lohan leaving the club around 3:30 AM, an hour-and-a-half after closing time.

John Carr, spokesperson for California's Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control, tells TMZ that his agency wants to review witness reports and other evidence to determine if a formal investigation is warranted.

Last year, TMZ broke several stories of underage stars drinking at Hollywood clubs. Carr says that since our report, his agency has conducted 10 undercover operations at various clubs, though he wouldn't say if they got the goods.

TMZ contacted the rep for Les Deux. Our calls were not immediately returned.

16. You've got to be kidding, right?
How could you think that she was being served booze?? The pictures of her puking? The pictures of her passed out in the front seat?
Could any of those be a CLUE????????
Come on, what the hell do you think? Of course she was served. She's been served at every club her drunk ass has been in!!
How about letting the public know the results of the blood tests done at the hospital that night.
BA level?? Guessing pretty high.. Coke? Yep! Be interesting to see what else the skank had in her!

17. It's about time some action has been taken.

Keep the pressure on these CA agencies, police dept, ABC board and the Governor by emaling our concerns over the illegal activities of these clubs.

Celebrities are NOT ABOVE THE LAW!

18. It's about damn time someone was looking into the ongoing under age drinking that's a regular happening in so many of those "celebrity clubs"!! Any of the bars all of you out there are going to would be busted in a heartbeat if underage kids were going in there on a regular basis...plus everyone KNOWS they are underage. It's not as if they have fake ID.

19. They need to check out Teddy's too, since she's often seen stumbling out of that place too. (Used to be MK's haunt for much of last year, when she was quite clearly underaged)! Her friend and owner of Teddy's, Amanda Demme, never had a problem allowing underaged celebs in her clubs and it appears that even without her being in charge, Teddy's still has a problem with allowing underage folks in their establishments. Talk about negligent!!!

21. If someone out there can find out who the insurance agents are on these places they should be informed and the company who writes their liquor liability can cancel their policies. Then we will see how quick they get religion when the owners are on the hook!

23. It's about time ! It has been a joke that the kid was able to do this in front of cameras and Cali's D of ABC never did a thing to stop it. What do they get paid for ?
These establishments should have known better and should pay the price. No one is above the law !

ps.... Where is her mother ? What a great parent she is !

24. #5 and #13: they have to do an investigation so they can catch any potential offenders in the act. They can't go on hearsay, unverified photographs, or other second-hand information. Has this sort of thing gone on too long? Probably. But at the end of the day, one has to wonder where these minors' "handlers" (agents, lawyers, PARENTS etc.) are while this is all happening?

25. This whole thing is such BS.

The agencies involved are wholly funded by tax payer dollars. The idea that these people can omit any information with regard to there investigations is frankly appalling.

It honestly makes me wonder if the same PR agency that work for these celebrities are the same PR people for the Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control.

I can tell you right now why nothing has been done, I can tell you in a single symbol - $
There ya go. These nightclubs make money hand over fist, of which, I have no doubt, a great deal goes right into the pockets of the "officials" at the Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control.

Honestly, I can foresee a situation where some underage starlet dies, in a club, with a bac of like 5.5 and the only thing that would happen is the clubs license would get revoked temporarily, if even that much, so don't hail this one silly stupid thing as being the harbinger of change, cause, it aint happenin.

28. #5 and #14 are both spot on!

I tell ya, money really does make the world go round. If this was east podunk and it was your average kid, there would be hell to pay and licenses would be revoked in a snap! What really gets my irie is that it seems the harder these young folks fall, the more popular they get, like some sort of street cred?

29. They are not serious. This is just for PR and a good spin. There are so many clubs that serve the underaged rich and famous and it is no secret. One of the "B" List clubs may get a citation or some other strongly worded letter. That's it! Let's keep it real, John Carr. You've been PUNKED!

30. That is a total waste of both time and tax-payers money.

Most countries in the civilized world has a age limit from 14 to 18. In Denmark we have no drinking limit but a buying limit of 16 years. We don't have to many DUI and our limit for DUI is 0,05.

Why does it work? Because our children does not have to hide their drinking, when it is legal. We can disguss it in the open and learn them the difference between beer, wine and stronger stuff.

So lower you limit to 16 and increase the age for a drivers licence to 18 combining it with real education. It cost about 1000 dollars to get a drivers licence in Denmark and the education includes mandatory testing of various situations on a closed track where it does not matter if a car spinds off the road or turn over. (In fact they often do when the youngsters think that they still are sitting in front of a computer.)

There are so many possibilities of improving safety in traffic and lower the number of casulties instead of continueing closing your eyes for the secret life your children are forced to live.
