LiLo Exercises Away the Addiction

Lindsay Lohan left her "serious medical treatment program" at Promises rehab facility in Malibu yesterday for a quick session at a local gym. Which of the twelve steps is the elliptical machine?

The rehabbing party girl checked into the posh dry-out digs on Monday, after a wild Memorial Day weekend that included a car accident, DUI bust and allegations of cocaine use. Sweat it out, Linds!

106. Promises is a serious in-house treatment facility?????? What a joke. I guess the 48 g's per month the clients cough up to be treated(?) there justifies the fact that celebritiy brats can come and go as they please. Aren't there some kind of governing bodies that can oversee these Club Med rehabs that care nothing about sobriety, only money, celebrity "guests" and name recognition? This is sickening to me. This child is about as serious about rehab as Promises is about sobriety.

108. Her "mother" was probally ordered by LL not to say a damm thing about her drug habit or he allowance would be cut off since her mother lives off LL she will abide by the rules there can be no other explanation as to why she doesnt say anthing responsible or motherly at all. She would rather take the money than be a mother. Enough said her other kids should be taken away she is not a fit mother and she is training the other one (Ally) to be her new cash cow..............

110. Promisise, and all of the other places for the rich and/or famous are exquiste rehab places where those people kind of people can have what they need to rehab their bodies and minds or drugs/alcohol. The places are made for these kind of people togive the the proper lifestyle( gourmet meals massages, 500-count bedding, satelite tv, hairstylists, professional trainers, tennis partners, horsebacking riding, etc.). There is NOTHIGN wrong withthat. The palces alsohave the best docotrs, conselors, etcs. If one wants to get better at these places, he/she can. The richan dmighty are free to leave-it is dignity issue for them they are not prisoners.

PROBLEM is-toomany of these rich/famous do not want to get better. They do not complete the program. They do not recognize they have a problem. These places can be pr stunts and holding places for them to avoid other things like legal matters such as Lohan.

Lohan is out to a gym. bad choice. Lohan went there for legal matters to front for the car crash inwhich some coc was found She is there to frontto make that movie that is going for Shirley MacClaine. 30 days is a shorttime and too short and that fits these people's need to do these rehab places for legal, pr, etc. reasons

Lohan went there and will be out just in time for , July 2, her birthday bash in Las Vegas
Britney Spears is saying she was not addicted to anything bu twas jsut acting out like a bad child of ADD. SHE really believes that. What does this tell you?

I do not wish death on anybody, but the only way these people will get their lives together is if one crashes and dies or one has a near deathexperience. Then, just then , that particular one that it happens too will see the light. I cannot say the rest will.

112. As far as rehabs go, Promises appears to offer a solid, well rounded program addressing the many issues facing an addict. They provide all of the essential services and many comfort and spa services as well. Despite prevalent belief, they don't treat only celebrities or even mostly celebrities. They treat mostly middle class people from LA and Santa Monica and Orange County that have insurance.

When a person enters a treatment facility, they are in crisis. Many times they have had to be begged by family and friends to go there. If it was a dank gray prison camp serving bread and water instead of offering comfort it is not likely that loved ones would be able to encourage people with addiction issues to choose their program over the many other programs available.

It is a business, after all. In that business there is fierce competition. They have to have a good reputation and produce good results. I don't know their stats but imagine they are at least on par with most similar programs. They have a long list of succesful alumni. Some of the alumni from Promises include Robert Downey Jr, Ben Affleck, Matthew Perry, Jack Osbourne, Kelly Osbourne, Charlie Sheen,Christian Slater, Paula Poundstone, Tim Allen and Andy Dick.

I went to a 2 rehabs, one of which was similar in price to Promises, one of which was almost 4 times as expensive in price per day. Both were similar in structure. In addition to alchohol I was addicted to MDMA, for which I needed close neurological monitoring (separate bill), opiates and benzodiazipines, which were a longer initial detox, and cocaine, which was only psychologically addictive but still a real beast, probably hardest to try to recover from.

I was strip searched and issued blue scrubs and asigned 2 full-time personal counselors, one for each 12 hour shift. I was immediately examined by 3 different doctors and given a full physical and psych evaluation and an addiction specialist prescribed my detox plan, including meds and vitamins and a direction for when and how much I could join "the group". That happened gradually over 10 days. No reading material, no phone calls, no visits for 2 weeks, then only family therapy. We were up at 5 am for meditation and breakfast and in bed, lights out by 10pm and glad to get there.

The group did all kinds of activities, art therapy, occupational therapy (computers, no internet), ropes and zip lines in the woods aka trust exercises, went to the gym and worked out daily, played basketball, went to the pool, had endless classes on alcohol and drug education, family and children education, 12 step meetings (actually learning the process of the steps, not AA meetings), attended 2 AA or NA or CA meetings a day, one o site, one off, went on off-site trips with plenty of staff and no chance to run into other people.

Sure, people left after a day or 2 or 5 but if they did they still owed for the whole stay and if they left AMA, Against Medical Advice, their insurance wouldn't pay and they would owe the whole bill on their own. People who left were not welcome to come back. There was no revolving doo policy.

At first I was kind of watching the whole Lohan train wreck thing like I was the Paris/Nicole/Brit sagas but the other night it hit me that they are all quite a bit older and just how young she really is and that she has basically been raising herself alone, being pimped out by her pathetic excuse for a mother. Her vs the train. Of course she was going to lose. So now, my hope is that her journey leads her to a place where she can find a solid footing on which to balance herself, maybe far from Hollywood for a while, until she gains some perspective and sorts out her very serious, gravely serious problems.

I am now ashamed of yself for finding any entertainment value in the situation at all.

113. I also wanted to mention that rehab, at least voluntary, private rehab that is not court-ordered, is not about punishment, is is about self-care. Ironically, as selfish as a practicing addict is, they generally do not take care of themselves. The worse the addictions become, the worse the self-neglect becomes.

That is why there is so much focus of the emotional and spiritual and physical and nutritional well-being of the patient. Many have forgotten or have never known how to properly care for themselves, how to eat or cook a nutritious meal, exercise, how much sleep to get, even how often to shower. The appetizing and interesting menus and nutritionists and cooking classes and fitness centers and wellness classes serve a dual purpose. They entice the patient to start eating and exercising and encourage them to continue as part of their new healthy lifestyle plan.

All in all, what each person gets out of rehab is what they put into it. The average success rate for these type of rehab facilities are 33%. One out of three people who complete rehab will end up remaining clean and sober.

114. Lindsay Lohan left, the "medical treatment program" with permission (I assume ), to drive, risking pedestrians lives with no consequences.
In the way the concessions are going,I can predict the future, she will go to prison and
they will give her permission also to for a Night Out.
OK, I know the law is not the same for avery one but Life is. I can imagine,
her in its forty. No money for drugs, No money for Lawyers, and totally FORGOTTEN.

119. I'm sure they have gym at Rehab that she could use. I wouldn't be comfortable with her leaving and coming back. She could use something while she's out or bring something back with her....
