Celebrity Pay Dirt
Pitt & Clooney Mixed Up in Gay Bar Fight

Known for their goodwill efforts in poverty-ravaged parts of the world like Darfur, Brad Pitt and George Clooney are now being asked to come to the aid of a slightly less disenfranchised group -- Laguna Beach gays!
Brad Pitt and George Clooney
The Boom Boom Room, a popular Laguna Beach, Calif. gay bar for over 60 years, was sold to a Beverly Hills billionaire two years ago for over $12 million. That's a lot of cosmos! In 2005, Pitt & Clooney were incorrectly labeled as co-investors in the bar, whose rightful owners were planning on turning into yet another upscale (and undoubtedly hetero) oceanfront hotel. The Heche Hilton! With those plans now scrapped, the bar (which is scheduled to stay open until Labor Day) is back on the market and a grassroots organization is appealing to the Hollywood hunks to help Save the Boom!

To make sure they get the message, TMZ has exclusively obtained the ad Save the Boom is running in Monday's Variety, which hopes to persuade Brad and George to "buy our 60-year-old landmark before it is converted into a boutique hotel." And homophobes say gays are the ones doing all the converting?!

Will Brad and Clooney take the bait...or just Stonewall it?

16. Matt, why are you posting the URL to a website that you own? Do you realize that doing a WHOIS on the domain names points to your street address? Gosh you're brave.

19. OMG, I used to work there and visit there quite often, as it was, for a while at least, the only decent spot in town. Having only been back a few times in the past years, I found that it has gone markedly downhill. Inland trashbag city. (Sorry RSideCo & Crew!) Maybe if it can get a makeover, some hollywood glam, and big exposure, it will become a cash cow attracting a mixed crowd. Laguna has enough hotels already...and just the mention of the LA scene makes my lunch come back up.

27. What ever happened to the Little Shrimp?. I just to go there when I used to live in SoCal. I think that a public offering should be done to buy the BoomBoom Room. I'll buy a couple of shares. I'll be an interesting adventure. It may be even protifitable, in the long run.

28. I think the bar owners know what they are doing with this ad. Clooney is totally closeted. That's got to be one of Hollywood's biggest secrets. I was amazed at his overt, obvious attraction for Brad in Ocean's 11. It also explains his complete and total inability to pull off an intimate, romantic scene with a woman successfully. Every time he's in a leading man role opposite a leading lady, there's just something artificial and not quite right. He is simply not believable as a straight man.

29. You'll report on the Boom but not Jericho? With over 18 tons of peanuts being sent to CBS headquarters?
