Celebrity Justice
Jailed Paris -- "Polite, Gracious"

Hutton, Paris HiltonShe's stuck in solitary confinement with only one hour of free time a day, but so far, Paris Hilton is being described as a "polite and gracious" prisoner. That's hot!

In a statement outside the Los Angeles jail where the heiress is being held, Hilton's lawyer, Richard Hutton, told the media that Paris is "doing very well under the circumstances." But the circumstances, according to Hutton, are pretty harsh.

According to Hutton, Paris was forced into a 100-sq. ft. "administrative segregation" (a fancy word for solitary confinement) cell because of her celebrity status. She's only allowed out of her tiny cell for one hour a day to "be in the module, take a shower and talk on the phone."

Hutton also said that his client's stealthy, late-night surrender was Hilton's idea, adding that "Paris didn't want to make a media circus out of the event. She just wanted to quietly start serving her time."

Hutton added that Paris will be doing a fair amount of self-reflection during her time in the clink, because "she wants to change the attitudes that exist about her." Good luck, Ms. Hilton.

46. Time will tell. Honestly I hope it goes well for her and that she does find out who she is and how she can become a better human being. God knows her parents are going to teach her. If anything can force her to see how life really is beyond the HH gates this is it. Good luck kid.

47. Some of these comments are extremely cruel and judgemental. Typically, when people are judgemental like so many of you appear to be, it is only a matter of time before you get yours.
I can only hope for your sake, people aren't as cruel to you.

48. This so called good-girl act is nothing but a butt kissing tactic. Let's hope Paris goes ballistic on one of the deputies and they have to Rodney King her. Now that's hot!

49. To Mr. Richard Hutton:
A lawyer's job is to get their client off or at least, reduce their jail or prison time. The public's opinion of Paris, is justifiable, all things considered. She committed a driving offense, no ifs, ands or buts and now she's in jail. From what I've read, her 45 days could be reduced due to good behaviour. If by good behaviour that means doing what you're told to do and following jail routine and protocol, I think the full 45 days will give your client time to think and re-think what she did, her motivation for doing what she did, and....how best to improve her life and public persona. If you're looking for public sympathy, you're not going to get it from me and many others. Now if Paris's pal, Lindsay Lohan were to follow suit and do jail time, maybe she could get some serious help and or counselling.

50. Paris Hilton should be thanking her lucky stars being in solitary confinement. There has been rumors about inmates wanting to get close to her. How dare she or her lawyer say she is confined to a small cell and only let out for 1 hour a day. She already has had SO MANY people helping her. They should be enforcing all the rules and regulations to everyone,.BUT NO Paris gets special treatment. She got her jail time cut in half for starters. Do you think that would have happened for an average citizen? NO WAY! So stopped acting like you didn't do anything wrong YOU DID and not just once either. So Shut your lawyer up and Paris you SUCK IT UP!!! Do your time and don't whine.

51. Comment 52, yes these comments are cruel and Paris has said cruel things to other people. No one cares about a person who gets everything she wants, flaunts it in your face when we're struggling harshly just to try to make ends meet and still help others. Also, if we were in her situation we would not get our 45 days knocked down., etc etc. scr*w Paris.

52. Ok, she made it, without incident.

Paris, you should write every thought down, and what you do, every moment of everyday, what you have learned. Write a book when you get out, and you'll even get richer.

Time does go by fast.,

53. she was forced into solitary confinement--they were doing her a favor because i'm sure the general population would definitely enjoy having her with them-and i do mean having her. she would be made to pay for all those racial and homophobic slurs she made, so she should thank them for FORCING her into solitary

54. Whether she changes HER attitudes is not a given just because she's serving forced incarceration for her crimes. She'll still have to actually prove it AFTER she gets out, and over an extended period of time (a year or two is about right). Let's see if she screws this up, too.

55. Although I have a genuine hatred for most defense attorneys who defend what are clearly crimminals, I think her lawyer, Mr. Hutton, is probably the closest thing to a parent that Paris Hilton ever had. My guess is he told her she better at least fake some remorse even if he had to twist her arm ...... and I am guessing she at least got part of it.

Only time will tell. At least she beat the press so to speak by hiring a bunch of make up artists to come to her house on Monday to let her avoid a photo shoot.

Something is wrong with the laws in California. Here in Kansas, our laws were changed in 2002 that prohibited anyone convicted with DUI to plead down to a lesser offense AND our jail terms are mandatory with NO time off for good behavior or overcrowding. You get up to 15% "good time" off for assault, manslaughter, or burglary but not DUI. On probabtion violations in Kansas, you are taken straight to jail with no bond regardless of the crime. Maybe that is why we have a low crime rate.

I served 90 days for a DUI where no accident was involved and nobody was hurt. But I "might have" killed someone. DUI is the only crime in this state where nobody gets hurt but you are charged big time.

I wish we could get nationwide consistency in sentencing and no special treatment for celebrities or people that carry illegal weapons. Paris is a mess I agree, but also - only in Hollywood - does OJ the murderer get set free then flees to Florida and thus is never made to pay the Goldman's one dime.

We are one nation - with 50 different state standards for justice. Paris is a symptom of a nationwide judicial disease.

We have the UCC (uniform commercial code) but no USCJ (Uniform Standards of Crimminal Justice).

Why do people say we have the best justice system in the world when we have the highest crime rate and incarceration rate in the world?

Sorry for the rant ........ but I think it is relevant here.

57. I heard Harvey from TMZ on a talk radio news program today say " Paris is doing this time because of who she is, Not because of what she did" Harvey is on many TV shows now, Has he gone Hollywood on us? Will the site ease up on on celebrities? Help Enable with spun PR?
Time will tell.

I do agree Paris should do the time as any of us would do if in her circumstance. But I do not wish her to be hurt because of who she is. Solitary is no fun, Not even with the guards hanging out chatting, not even for 23 days. I feel it's the best place for her and do not feel it is special treatment.Just wise on the part of the correction facility

58. If these "Paris" comment boards had sound, it'd probably sound like the inside of that jailhouse where Paris is currently residing.

Makes me wonder if solitary confinement cells are soundproof.
I'll just bet someone here certainly knows....so do tell.
....and try not to scream, please. '- )

59. Paris really needs to mingle with the "real people" and see what life is like for many of us. But that won't happen.

I think after 23 days Paris will want to yank out her hair extensions as they will be infested with lice.

Reply:
lmao! No black berry, no editor / secratary, No spelling & grammar capabilities, No spell checker, No recorder and you think she might write a book while incarcerated? It will take her all day just to sound out and spell R e a l i t y.
