Cops: Paris Under House Arrest

Paris Hilton has been fitted for ankle bracelet and reassigned to house arrest, after authorities decided to release Hilton from jail due to medical reasons, this according to Los Angeles County Sheriff's Dept. spokesperson, Steve Whitmore.

Reporters hammered away about Paris' medical condition during a press conference in front of the jail, where she was released early this morning, but Whitmore said that due to confidentiality laws, he could not discuss even the slightest health-related details.

Paris will be under house confinement in her West Hollywood home for 40 days, where she has a 3000-4000 ft. radius of freedom. Her jail cell was 96 square feet. After the 40 days are up, Whitmore says she will have "fulfilled her debt to society."

Whitmore made it clear that Paris was not released early -- she was reassigned. She is technically still in custody.

71. Medical reasons, most people in jail have some sort of mental defect and their still in prison! Paris I hope next time then throw the book at your butt next time. I bet if that was anybody else the prison guards would be laughing at them. Nice to know she'll can drink and drive but she's too danty to do the time.

75. This is BS. I hope every other American who gets any jail time for DUI, probation violation, and is sentenced to more than 3 days will sue their state for discremination. Give me a break, she paid them off and everyone knows it. Why don't someone check out the sheriffs bank account in the next few days, or see if he buys something new and expensive. I hope all responsible persons will stop watching her show, buying anything related to her and stop staying at the Hiltons. We need to show these kind of people what we really think of them. The more she is in the news the more popular she becomes, ignore her and she would fade away in no time.
