Cops: Paris Under House Arrest

Paris Hilton has been fitted for ankle bracelet and reassigned to house arrest, after authorities decided to release Hilton from jail due to medical reasons, this according to Los Angeles County Sheriff's Dept. spokesperson, Steve Whitmore.

Reporters hammered away about Paris' medical condition during a press conference in front of the jail, where she was released early this morning, but Whitmore said that due to confidentiality laws, he could not discuss even the slightest health-related details.

Paris will be under house confinement in her West Hollywood home for 40 days, where she has a 3000-4000 ft. radius of freedom. Her jail cell was 96 square feet. After the 40 days are up, Whitmore says she will have "fulfilled her debt to society."

Whitmore made it clear that Paris was not released early -- she was reassigned. She is technically still in custody.

93. This stupid guy keeps saying she is confined to her home. So they will just bring the party to her!!! All her friends can come over and she can have anything she wants. This is ridiculous. What medical condition did she have? A blemish? "OMG, I have a zit! I'm gonna die!" Ugh.

94. Why does Paris get off scott free? There are tons of people in prison today with medical problems and they weren't sent home on "house arrest!" It just goes to show that money can take you a long way. Celebs all the time get special treatment b/c money talks. Pure craziness!!

105. This spokesperson on MSNC is trying to explain this and he sounds like a fool!!! There has to be a big pay off some where. If she were released for medical reasons, put her in a hospital. She was just fine the night she went in. Guess withdrawl is the case. I can not believe the stupidity of this justice system. ONLY IN CALIFORNIA!!!!!!!!!!
