L.A. City Attorney "Extremely Troubled" by Paris Decision

Rocky & ParisAnother official is blasting the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department over the decision to reassign Paris Hilton to house arrest.

In a statement to TMZ, Los Angeles City Attorney Rocky Delgadillo said:

"Today I was extremely troubled to learn that the Sheriff's Department has decided to release Ms. Hilton from custody just three days after she was admitted to county jail.

My office was not advised of this action. We learned of it this morning through news reports, just like everyone else. Had we been provided with the proper notification, we would have opposed the decision on legal grounds.

News reports indicate that the Sheriff's Department released Ms. Hilton to house arrest due to a medical condition. This explanation is puzzling. Los Angeles county jail medical facilities are well-equipped to deal with medical situations involving inmates.

I am also concerned that the judicial process may have been improperly circumvented in this case. Ms. Hilton was incarcerated as a condition of her probation. As a result, the judge retained jurisdiction over her case and only the judge has the power to modify these conditions of probation. If Ms. Hilton's medical condition truly warranted a change in her circumstances, what should have happened is the following: Ms. Hilton's legal counsel should have filed an emergency application with the court and provided my office with the opportunity to respond, and then the court could have held a hearing on the matter to consider whether there was sufficient justification to change the terms of his original order. I have directed my criminal branch to immediately explore all possible legal options to ensure that the law is being applied equally and justly in this case.

If law enforcement officials are to enjoy the respect of those we are charged with protecting, we cannot tolerate a two-tiered jail system where the rich and powerful receive special treatment. We must ensure that in our city, in our nation, and under our Constitution, justice remains blind."

511. Did we really expect anything different? Now I have just the utmost respect for our judicial system, Paris Hilton, and the judge presiding over this matter..... NOT! I won't even go into what I think is wrong with all of this. There's just not enough room here!

513. It appears funny how the American Public seem to not care if a woman sleeps with a 14 year old boy as in that Pedo Deborah L. She abused her position and slept with a 14 year old, but you all seem to find that a joke as she was pretty. She never had to go to Prison and will only serve 7 years on the register. Ok its wrong for what is happening to Paris, but I think that sentence also should be revoked and Deborah L should be put in Prison with some big fat Lesbian for at least 10 years.

515. Everyone needs to get a life! Who cares!!! I'm sure everyone knows that life is UNFAIR. Let's get past it, if lucks on your side kudos to you, if its not, sorry. I think everyone complains to much in L.A. and thinks they know better than every other person.

516. so how come yesterday her own LAWYER said she was doing VERY WELL and suddenly this morning she's on her way home to essentially a luxury resort. Such crap.

So far, Hilton has had just two visitors: Hutton and her psychiatrist, Dr. Charles Sophy. Only professionals are allowed to see inmates during the week; visiting hours for family and friends begin on the weekend.

Still, says Hutton: "She's doing very well under the circumstances."

518. Just like every other American she has the right to be put in jail for breaking a law. Its not the fact she was just driving around drunk, which is serious enough, but its the fact it was a law she broke.....again. If I were caught there would be no second thought to myself serving the entire term the judge set down. If she is going to consider herself an American let her be placed in jail and treated like the rest of the citizens of the United States. If not strip her of her citizenship because she does nothing but to help drag this country down and demorliaze everything this it stands for.

519. i am not surprised at all, why?because it is in the tradition of the sheriff's dept to let criminals off the hook before the due time.this is made public because she's a celebrity.let's leave her alone afterall she did not hurt anyone

520. I think that Paris being released from jail shows just how bad our judicial system really is. To say unfair is not even a big enough statement. Paris went to jail for violating a probation order already set. She had not concern when breaking the law how cold jail cold possibly be.
I think she should be thrown back in jail and start her sentence from the beginning.

522. Obviously the wench got upset at being kept in a steel box. But then... why not let her out? After all, she was no threat to anyone... er, no wait, a hurtling mass of steel in the hands of an intoxicated moron might be a small problem to the occasional innocent citizen, but hardly any RICH people were at risk, right?

Let's face it. No ordinary person would be given the slightest consideration if they got frantic at being in a jail cell. It's part of what jail is all about for the rest of us.

Doubtless her outrageously snobbish mom threatened the Sheriff. "You'll never attend another premiere in this town!" Had he any cojones, he'd have offered Mom a chance to sit in the slammer with her poor mistreated lil slut-child.

525. The more the media keeps reporting on this spoiled little brat, the bigger her head gets. This latest escapade only adds to her so-called popularity. Quit writing about her and she will DRY UP! Her parents ought to be ashamed of themselves, as well as their daughter.
