Celebrity Justice
L.A. City Attorney "Extremely Troubled" by Paris Decision

Rocky & ParisAnother official is blasting the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department over the decision to reassign Paris Hilton to house arrest.

In a statement to TMZ, Los Angeles City Attorney Rocky Delgadillo said:

"Today I was extremely troubled to learn that the Sheriff's Department has decided to release Ms. Hilton from custody just three days after she was admitted to county jail.

My office was not advised of this action. We learned of it this morning through news reports, just like everyone else. Had we been provided with the proper notification, we would have opposed the decision on legal grounds.

News reports indicate that the Sheriff's Department released Ms. Hilton to house arrest due to a medical condition. This explanation is puzzling. Los Angeles county jail medical facilities are well-equipped to deal with medical situations involving inmates.

I am also concerned that the judicial process may have been improperly circumvented in this case. Ms. Hilton was incarcerated as a condition of her probation. As a result, the judge retained jurisdiction over her case and only the judge has the power to modify these conditions of probation. If Ms. Hilton's medical condition truly warranted a change in her circumstances, what should have happened is the following: Ms. Hilton's legal counsel should have filed an emergency application with the court and provided my office with the opportunity to respond, and then the court could have held a hearing on the matter to consider whether there was sufficient justification to change the terms of his original order. I have directed my criminal branch to immediately explore all possible legal options to ensure that the law is being applied equally and justly in this case.

If law enforcement officials are to enjoy the respect of those we are charged with protecting, we cannot tolerate a two-tiered jail system where the rich and powerful receive special treatment. We must ensure that in our city, in our nation, and under our Constitution, justice remains blind."

512. I am troubled at the news that Paris Hilton is already out of jail, having served only a few days of a 45 day sentence. This is a SERIOUS slap in the face of the justice system. The AVERAGE JOE, if he'd been in the same situation as Paris, would have to serve the ENTIRE sentence - no early release...no electronic devices...no cameras...just jail. Once again, the wrong message is being sent to our youth, that, as long as you have big bucks, you can REPEATEDLY break the law, and nothing serious will be done to you. But if you don't have money, well...man up, or, WOMAN up! No matter HOW you look at this, THIS IS WRONG!
Paris Hilton broke the law, and she should have to serve her time just like anybody else.
If she's sick, then let the medical doctors there at the facility take care of her, or, even better, since she's got money, let her parents bring in their OWN doctors to take care of her.
Personally, I do not believe that there is ANYTHING wrong with her - she got a SMALL taste of reality, and couldn't deal with it.
If they allow her to serve her time at home, I hope that the families of every inmate in that facility rise up in protest!
I guess what my mom has said most of my life IS true - "money talks!"

513. the most un heard of thing I have ever seen
the skank needs to do her time in general population, so what if she has a "rash"
or did her herpes flare up again? I agree with a previous post, the Hiltons probably promised the sheriffs dept a new jail if they release skank ass, I say let her rashey herpes infected self go back to jail with other "regular" inmates.
Guess she doesn't like the food and cant order out,
she is the most USELESS form of life ever
I SAY LET HER SKANK ASS HERPES SELF ROT IN JAIL

514. Well, I'm extremely troubled by it also...... IT'S NOT SUPPOSED TO BE FUN!!! It's jail, punishment... She needs to experience the MENTAL ANGUISH to teach her how to be a productive member of society.

515. AMEN !

Send her rich ass back to the slammer! then she will actually learn her lesson, and hopefully it will deter her from drinking and driving again! People tend to forget that's the whole reason she should be there, she put other people's lives in danger!

while your at it throw Lindsay Lohan in there too...these girls are a terrible influence on young people everywhere!

517. Way to go Paris!!!!! Your antic's just sealed your fate. Watch out Lohan, Spears and Ritchie, Paris just sealed your fate, too. Next time you get caught, you'll end up in jail. The judges won't take the heat, and the sheriff's dept. has been called on the release of Paris.

518. First off, nerveous break down!!!! we have people in prison that have life threatening illnesses, women and men that have been brutally rape by fellow imates and they can't go home because of the emotional problems that has caused them. Money talks and the rich walk. DUI is a serious thing. I know of someone that was put in jail for violation of probation for DUI, had a heart attack , and had to have open heart surgeryand developed diabeties andhad to serve the full 6 months to the day. Why should she be different

519. ************************************************************************************
1) Paris' sentence was reduced from 45 to 23 days for good behavior before she even arrived

2) Paris was given a private cell with TWO bunks in a private area

3) Paris was allowed daily time with her private celebrity-psych DR. Normally you use the jail staff for medical matters

4) Paris could have been seen by the in-house medical staff and / or transferred to the hospital unit or another facility if the in-house staff felt that was appropriate

5) The Sheriff seems to be star -struck and is a Scientologist with an agenda

6) 74 Hours and 15 minutes is not 5 days.

7) Besides worrying about Paris' paid DR (makes a living getting people out of jams) we should worry about the matter of JUSTICE and how other inmates feel, how the public feels, etc. Letting her off early creates disrespect for our courts and jails.

8) The Prosecutor and the Judge will do all possible to return her to jail I think...there is an existing court order and internal procedures were not followed here. The in-house staff were not examining her mental state and determining action. The outside DR which noone else is allowed trumped everyone.

9) Any treatment she is being given can also be done in jail, or revised accordingly, or other DR's opinions sought

10) The Michelle Rodriguez case got no attention because there was no publicity compared to this case

11) This is a Judge / Court Order VS Jail Boss battle. Who sentences a person...the Judge or the Sheriff?

12) If all cases were handled like this one there would be no rule of law at all...it would just be Anarchy and who you know & who you bl**. Why even have jails, judges, laws, rules, procedures, punishment?

13) Paris agrees she did "do it" there is no question that she was falsely accused or whatever.

14) She can be transferred out of state

15) People will not respect this situation unless it is straightened out. A fake suicide risk after 1 day for a brief stay is not credible. Just do the time.

16) All future physical / mental health matters should be controlled by the in-house staff - they are trained and have heard every possible scenario many times before.

17) The morale of Police, Court Employees, Judges, Jail Staff and others matters too - is their entire career a big fake nothing?

18) Rules need to be fairly and equally applied to everyone

19) If Paris wants respect she needs to shut up and do what the Judge says to do

20) Good behavior should be a matter handled normally. If she behaves well, then the necessary forms and procedures need to be followed. No other prisoner I have ever heard of gets awarded good behavior before they show up. Good behavior also includes things like not making fake suicide claims you know and making a mockerly of the entire thing

21) Paris should NOT write a book or profit from this at all to the extent that is possible

22) Paris is now grossly overexposed and so she has peaked. She is ripe to be replaced with another bimbo

23) The Sheriff needs to be held accountable if he did not follow procedures. Something more severe than the voters holding him responsible nearly 2 years from now. Sanctions, removal, disciplinary procedures, watch dog in future matters

24) Court Judges need to stand up against abuses like this

25) The Sheriff will likely complain he has no funding. Fine, ship the folks somewhere else

26) Paris's Father needs to be a Dad here and help/encourage his child to do the right things. He has been woefully absent so far, maybe the Mom took over and is just an older Paris anyway and so nearly incompetent

27) There needs to be a quick, decisive, clear outcome today. Not an agreement to form a committee or hire some new experts later this year

28) Things like this sort of lack or Justice and Favoritism happen accros the USA all the time in Family Court. They tend to just reward Females for showing up at the expense of Dads and Kids.

29) How Justice is handle tells you a great deal about a country and the state of it's civilization. Look at the overseas reactions to this mess

30) Read about how Rome Fell long ago. Things like this happened routinely, the lack of justice, the apathy, the lack of focus. Come on America, get going!!

520. It appears funny how the American Public seem to not care if a woman sleeps with a 14 year old boy as in that Pedo Deborah L. She abused her position and slept with a 14 year old, but you all seem to find that a joke as she was pretty. She never had to go to Prison and will only serve 7 years on the register. Ok its wrong for what is happening to Paris, but I think that sentence also should be revoked and Deborah L should be put in Prison with some big fat Lesbian for at least 10 years.

521. Figures...I have 2 terminal illnesses and 4 bad disks, unable to work at 45 years of age, and still I bet had it been me being stupid enough to drink and drive (among so many other offenses, whether legal or just plain moral or ethical) I know I would have been made to serve the entire sentence just because I am not a celeb. Typical HOLLYWOOD JUSTICE...a bigshot wants to commit a crime, they know they can as there's always some idiot like the LA Sheriff that let her go, to get them off one way or the other.
Of course the bitch was "distraught" at her sentencing...who wouldn't be, even if they knew they deserved it (other than the hard-core career prisoners that are used to it and prefer life in prison) I bet had it been me falling to pieces over my incarceration, it would have carried no weight at all in how much time I was to serve. Luckily I have never even had a speeding ticket, so chances are good I will never end up in the same situation as she and so many other so-called "celebrities" (for what...being blonde, emaciated, and STUPID??) Enough of this giving Hollywood celebs a break for being "famous" (more for having no talent at all than anything else) while the rest of us have to pay the price for our mistakes. Just one more reason if Southern California falls off the earth next time an earthquake hits, no great loss...hopefully Lohan, Richie, all the Hiltons, (let's include Jolie just for general principle...Brad has the money and the ability to care for the kids himself...sad thing is her lips would keep her bouyant on the Pacific, giving her a chance at rescue) and so many others will be in the state when it happens, so they finally get what they deserve. With these people (being kind here...more like complete morons) acting as "role models" to today's youth, the whole lot of them could be wiped out all at once and give some hope to the future via the improvement of our kid's ideals, once these no-account Hollywood types go away.

522. You don't "narc" your way out of jail with the Sheriff. That involves lawyers, the DA, etc. She can't just slip a note to the Sheriff giving names of people and then she gets released.

523. THIS JUST GOES TO SHOW THAT WE HAVE TWO SYSTEMS WITH IN OUR SYSTEM ONE FOR THE RICH AND ONE FOR THE POOR. AMERICA ISN'T ABOUT COLOR ANY MORE IT IS ABOUT HOW MUCH YOU HAVE IN THE BANK. THE PEOPLE OF L.A. COUNTY SHOULD BE ASSAMED TO CALL THAT PLACE HOME. WATCH OUT FOR THE REAL MENTALLY ILL PEOPLE BECAUSE THEY ARE GOING TO BE COMING OUT OF THE WOOD WORK NOW.

PARIS NEEDS TO SUCK IT UP AND TAKE IT LIKE A REAL WOMEN LIKE SE SAID SHE WAS GOING TO. SHE IS A WASTE OF SPACE AND TIME. WHY SHOULD SHE GET AWAY WITH NOT LISTENING TO A JUDGE WHEN THE REST OF US RED BLOODED AMERICANS HAVE TOO. IF SOMETHING LIKE THAT HAPPEN TO YOU OR I WE WOULD HAVE BEEN BACK IN OUR CELL BY NIGHT FALL AND THAT SHERRIF WOULD HAVE BEEN FIRED ON THE SPOT. ITS SAD THAT WE THE PEOPLE ELECT THESE IDIOTS TO REPRESENT US AS A COUNTRY. THAT JUST SHOULD HAVE EVERYONE'S ASS INVOLVED.

P.S. IF I EVER GET ARRESTED I HOPE THAT IT IS IN L.A. COUNTY
