69. Sounds like someone is finally showing some good sense in this case. A conditional sentence to be served under house arrest in the community is what the judge should have ordered. But at least the sheriff had the good sense to correct the unreasonable brutality of the court and assign her to custody under house arrest.

The only special treatment Paris Hilton got in this case is that the judge allowed the media driven hate campaign against Paris Hilton to influence the discretionary sentencing options he has. But all of this should not even have happened in the first place because in a great many cases where there is a 1st violation of probation on a misdemeanor traffic offense the length of probation is extended. Yes, Paris Hilton got special treatment. The hate campaign against her caused her to be judged more harshly than other persons in the same circumstance.
