Paris' Medical Condition -- Mental, Not Physical

Law enforcement sources tell TMZ Paris Hilton's medical condition was purely psychological and that she was in peril of having a nervous breakdown, and that's why she was released early this morning.

Psychiatrist Charles Sophy visited Hilton in jail yesterday and the day before. We're told after Sophy's visit yesterday, word was passed to the Sheriff that Hilton's mental state was fragile and she was at risk.

The reason for releasing her had nothing to do with a rash or other physical issues. It was purely in her head.

Last month, on the eve of a trial in which Hilton was accused of slandering socialite Zeta Graff, Dr. Sophy told the judge that Hilton was "emotionally distraught and traumatized" over her jail sentence, which prevented her from participating in a meaningful defense. That trial was put on hold until August.

UPDATE: Law enforcement sources have just told TMZ the County Jail medical team made the final decision to spring Paris based on Dr. Sophy's psychological evaluation. And we're told, Sheriff Lee Baca gave the final approval.

33. Yes, I agreed that this Paris Hilton issue was an inane story of a bored socialite who continually places herself into bad situations because she knows her family can buy her out of trouble. Sending her to jail and using what one can only assume are HER mathematical skills of making three days in jail equivalent to five days in jail has only proven that she's been correct all along.

However, with her early release to the confines of her multi million dollar hovel, this has ceased to be a story of a spoiled child gone wild. We've now entered blatant bias for those with money and fame over those who can't afford to pay off a doctor to forge a medical condition good enough to release one from a jail term. There are women and men in jails for less of an offense with less evidence and more respect for the court system who have kidney issues, HIV/AIDS, cancer, pregnancy, anemia, etc. Those aren't good enough to release any of them and many of them are in the infirmary because their condition is so bad. Yet, we have Miss Hilton released NOT to a hospital, but to her humble abode with all the amenities available to her.... because she was cold and jail made her cry. THAT is the story. Speak to women and men who have been held despite their illnesses. And speak to others who have received time because they drove with their suspended license that was taken because they had tickets they just couldn't afford to pay, unlike Miss Hilton who had hers taken BECAUSE SHE WAS DRIVING UNDER THE INFLUENCE. (Apparently, some have forgotten or chosen to overlook that point).

There is NOW a story here; where is the investigation team to uncover that reality?

Making light of it is a part of your job, but as journalists wouldn't you want to expose the inequities? Or at least mention that there are too many in worse condition with less cause to be locked up who have now been told that they are officially less valued by society and our judicial system because they aren't related to Conrad Hilton.

34. I got sick while incarcerated and they didn't release me any earlier,I knew a girl who needed a kidney transplant and had to be transported to the hospital every 3 days and guess what, she had to get a full body search not just coming back into the prison but on her way out in the morning as well.I wish someone could expalin this to me. I was told everyone needed to be searched regardless.

38. Her CEDU experience came back to her by reliving the cativety search and isolation - not good - absolutely not good.

A former suvivor of CEDU wrote that 5 out of 12 members in his group has either died or committed suicide.

She is a gone....

39. I'm sure this whole thing as planned. Other inmates need to start crying all the time and sue if they don't get the same treatment. WAH! House arrest in her MANSION? That is better than a "normal" day fo 98% of the population.

40. I hope the people who Paris Hilton claims are her 'fans' wake up to what a self-serving, egotistical, snob she is. Paris Hilton is a complete and total waste of space. She breaks the law and then and then whines her way out of doing her time. If that were me or you, we'd have to eat the bean burritos she was served or go hungry. Paris Hilton is a disgrace to her family and society in general. She is a horrible role model and has nothing worthwhile to offer.

44. It's not a nervous breakdown, it's a temper tantrum. That's what spoiled children have when they don't get what they want.

45. No wonder our country is in horrible shape. Our so-called justice system has slapped us all in the face by showing us you have to be a rich bitch to get preferential treatment.

This is horribly wrong and those who released Paris Hilton should be institutionalized.

Everyone should turn away from the Hilton's, The Lohan's, and the rest of scum sucking Hollywood and our corrupt government!!!
