Paris' Medical Condition -- Mental, Not Physical

Law enforcement sources tell TMZ Paris Hilton's medical condition was purely psychological and that she was in peril of having a nervous breakdown, and that's why she was released early this morning.

Psychiatrist Charles Sophy visited Hilton in jail yesterday and the day before. We're told after Sophy's visit yesterday, word was passed to the Sheriff that Hilton's mental state was fragile and she was at risk.

The reason for releasing her had nothing to do with a rash or other physical issues. It was purely in her head.

Last month, on the eve of a trial in which Hilton was accused of slandering socialite Zeta Graff, Dr. Sophy told the judge that Hilton was "emotionally distraught and traumatized" over her jail sentence, which prevented her from participating in a meaningful defense. That trial was put on hold until August.

UPDATE: Law enforcement sources have just told TMZ the County Jail medical team made the final decision to spring Paris based on Dr. Sophy's psychological evaluation. And we're told, Sheriff Lee Baca gave the final approval.

78. Every person in the LA jail system should get together and file a CLASS ACTION SUIT

gainst the city, county, whomever involved. Anyone who feels depressed and whatever

PH felt and they are not going home because they son't have high powered attorneys

and Cannot afford one is not getting fair justice....celebrity justice.

SERIOUSLY, THIS COULD SET A PRECEDENT IF ALL THE INMATES FILE A CLASS ACTION SUIT AND/OR ALL THAT HAVE PREVIOUSLY SERVED IN THE SAME JAIL. iMAGINE HOW MANY PEOPLE WOULD GET INVOLVED.

Any lawyer looking to make a name for himself should be on this now...millions of people would root for you.

79. Paris is a 20 something kid, give her a break. If the media, or anyone for that matter, talked about your daughter they way they have about Paris, my guess is you would be pretty pissed.
So she grew up rich, so she made herself a celeb, more power to her. She has succeded in accomplishing one of her goals, FAME. You watch her, you read about her, and you have made her one of the most popular women in the world. Enjoy it, and stop trashing the kid. Maybe you should focus on your own goals and take a lesson from her accomplishments.

81. I am not surprised she is out early.House arrest is a joke. Do they think that is punishing her. She will propably get around that too. This case proves once and for all that there is no punishment for the rich and famous. They can do wha they want. I had begun to have a little respect for Paris and if she had been let out for overcrowding I could have understood, but this is absolute bull. Oh, yeah that shrink is a freakin joke. Pay me enough and I will say what you want.

82. That is the biggest bull in the world, she wasnt going to have a nervous breakdown her father paid off the judge. Her father should be put in prison for raising such a spoiled little brat.

85. Stop staying at the Hilton hotels. Don't buy anything or watch anything that has to do with Paris. How insane. I guess it gives some other people a break because now lawyers can say there was a case on record that let someone out for not eating. Her parents should of told her to suck it up and do her time. How crazy. Something really bad is going to happen to this girl before it's over with and I hope she doesn't hurt anyone else when it does. Then her parents will wish they made her stay.

87. I hope the anarachists have a riot with this issue! Can you imagine such a blatant display of a two-tier legal system? Simply, one for the haves and another for the have nots. I am glad this happened. It sets a precedent and all those feeling blue in prison should be released from prison in favour of house arrest.

88.
This is the way things are going in this country. There is a double standard for the wealthy and the not wealthy. She's spoiled, pampered and has shown disregard for the safety of the people she put in danger while drinking and driving, but does she have to accept the responsibility for her actions? NO ! Why? She's rich. We'd better wake up and realize this is an example of the moral deterioration in this country.

Shame on you Paris. Grow up, be responsible and a whole lot less selfish. Let's hope you don't kill someone the next time, and there WILL be a next time, you drive under the influence.

My sincere apology to the judge, who tried to do the right thing and was disrespected.

90. Why wasn't this loser taken to Metropolian State Hospital like any other inmate in the Los Angeles County jail system??? Why is she allowed to spend 40 days at home on her blackberry and partying with friends in her mansion???
This is a travesty and insult to the judicial system and whomever authorized this at the LA County Sheriff's office ought to seriously think of a career change when the names of the ass kissin' , bribe taking fool's names get leaked to the public.
They better have a good story for this because I think there is going to be a large public outcry all over the country about the unfairness of this decision.
