Paris' Medical Condition -- Mental, Not Physical

Law enforcement sources tell TMZ Paris Hilton's medical condition was purely psychological and that she was in peril of having a nervous breakdown, and that's why she was released early this morning.

Psychiatrist Charles Sophy visited Hilton in jail yesterday and the day before. We're told after Sophy's visit yesterday, word was passed to the Sheriff that Hilton's mental state was fragile and she was at risk.

The reason for releasing her had nothing to do with a rash or other physical issues. It was purely in her head.

Last month, on the eve of a trial in which Hilton was accused of slandering socialite Zeta Graff, Dr. Sophy told the judge that Hilton was "emotionally distraught and traumatized" over her jail sentence, which prevented her from participating in a meaningful defense. That trial was put on hold until August.

UPDATE: Law enforcement sources have just told TMZ the County Jail medical team made the final decision to spring Paris based on Dr. Sophy's psychological evaluation. And we're told, Sheriff Lee Baca gave the final approval.

1036. Everybody goes into shock when they have to go to jail. Nobody throws a party before they go to jail. I do not understand why she is so special. She only got 45 days in prison and she protected from all of the crazy people in jail. I think she is in shock because she actually got sentence to jail like everyday people. How can the Sherriff always come to Paris’s rescue and give her a lighter sentence (Paris’s parents giving him money). We need to remember people do go to prison for stealing a slice of pizza.

1039. There is an undercurrent of sexual excitement in some of the posts here and elsewhere. For example, a recent one suggesting Paris should be spanked in the presence of the paparazzi, so it can be shown in public is almost pronographic. It also speaks to the desire to humiliate and degrade, rooted in turn in jealousy, envy and resentment. But, it goes for some deeper. There are certain people out there who, shall we say, "get off" sexually in seeing a beautiful, rich, young woman dragged in tight handcuffs, shoved around, and force to appear in public dishevelled and distraught, stripped naked (emotionall only this time) in public, and humiliated in the immediate presence of powerful, controlling men, such as the prosecutor (what the hell kind of name for a senior prosecutor is 'Rocky' - sounds like an Al Capone hit man) and the judge. Not all who want Paris jailed are this way, but I sense the sexual excitement behind some posts.

1040. Looking back on it, the sheriff probably should have transferred Hilton to where he took her eventually after the second court appearance - the medical unit with the larger jail. I suspect she will probably serve the remainder of her sentence from what amounts to a hospital bed within a hospital setting within a jail. I am convinced that she has received a greater sentence, not a lesser one, than an ordinary person would have; that is, she is being punished more than an ordinary person not because of what she did but who she is. One reason, I believe, is that the City Attorney sees, in her, a tremendous opportunity to gain positive attention for himself and advance his own political career. Does anyone think if it had been an ordinary factory worker in a rusty old Ford that "the great man" would have shown up in person to prosecute the case?

1041. The simple truth is that our jails are over-crowded, infested with disease, and sometimes not properly staffed. Paris Hilton's case brings to attention the larger problem - hundreds and hundreds of people, many convicted of far more serious crimes, are regularly, ordinarily, customarily let out either to house arrest or just let out because there is "no room at the inn", to coin a phrase.

1042. Plain truth - there are too few jails, too poorly maintained and lacking specialty staff and facilities.

1043. Like another poster said: What do you want to do - stone her in the middle of the town square? Everybody could step up and cast a stone - "There - that's for being prettier than me", "There - that's for being richer than me", "There - that's for being hotter than me"...

Just do whatever you can to make yourself happier, instead of being so jealous of someone else.

1045. Heh. I think the only reason that it's considered a "medical condition" is because she's been so spoiled her entire life, she's never dealt with real stress and nervous breakdowns. Pretty sure everyone else has and got through it ok.

I do find it funny that she can comfortably plant her plastic ass in the driver's seat of a car while roaring drunk, but she can't sit in a jail cell and do the time she brought on herself.

1046. Okay, here it is: America is decadent. Maybe the Taliban do have a point? Life in America has fallen apart. Justice can be bought. Correct health care can be bought. Proper university education can be bought. The 1776 Constitution is dead. In other words: America is corrupted. This was predicted in the Bible. Maybe the Taliban are right [sigh].

I hate the Taliban -- so I wish they weren't. But what if they are? What if America -- as the greatest nation on Earth -- is also the most disgusting, decadent Sodom and Gomorrah since ... well, since the original? (ref: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sodom_and_Gomorrah). As Leona Helmsley said in 1983, "We don’t pay taxes. Only the little people pay taxes."

Maybe that says it all. What Helmsley (God rest her soul) said 24 years ago rings true today with Paris Hilton: there is one law for the RICH ... and another law for the REST of us ...
