Paris Outrage Explodes, Sheriff Stays Mum

Paris HiltonThe loud chorus of questions and accusations surrounding Paris Hilton's early release from jail got a whole lot louder, but the Sheriff continued to play the medical card to defend his decision.

Local officials continued to shake their heads at the heiress' treatment, with L.A. County Supervisor Mike Antonovich calling her release, says the New York Post, "a mockery of due process." He added, "You're dealing with a spoiled brat acting out to get her way instead of serving time as was adjudicated by the courts." Ouch.

But Sheriff Baca, under fire for letting Paris go home, stood by the medical rationale, telling the L.A. Times, "justice is being served by the decision ... She would still be in the county jail if it were not for the medical advice." And as for her receiving star treatment, Baca said, "My message to those who don't like celebrities is that punishing celebrities more than the average American is not justice."

And Rosie O'Donnell -- remember her? -- weighed in on the liberation of Paris in her own mocking way on her blog at rosie.com, "Paris is free/praise the lord/as America awakens/from a deep sleep."

Martha Flips Over Popped "Egyptian" Driver

Martha Stewart lost it big-time Tuesday when the car she was riding got stopped by cops, who arrested her driver. As Page Six reports, the domestic doyenne was on her way to appear on "The View," when her car got pulled over and was surrounded by the po-po. It's unclear why the driver was arrested, but whatever the reason, it sure made Martha mad. According to a source, she started "shouting loudly," saying, "How could you do this to me? Don't you do background checks on people? He was Egyptian! What do I pay you people for?" According to Martha's company, the driver was a temporary employee and was with MSO only a short while.

31. Oh Boy!!! Another long day of Paris drama. You know, her sister seems to have it together. She does her own thing and knows when to lay low. What we are dealing with here is a total moron and if her parents were real parents they would just ignore her until she starts acting like, you know, a human being!!!

32. A person that has never been in a prison before and that does come from a completely different inviroment, being in prison must simply be traumatic. I am shure it is traumatic for many people even from middleclass homes or just decent backgrounds. Paris Hilton is not acting out she is influenced by this experiance and will become mentally ill if it has to go on.

One does not need to be a specialist to forsee that she will develope depression, panic attacks, agony. If that strices a person it takes years if not a lifetime to get well from it completaly. I am not shure if I like this punishment, do you?

35. Sheriff Baca says celebrities shouldn't be punished more than other Americans. That cuts both ways. How many times did the police and the sheriff looked the other way and ignored Paris when she broke the law? Underage drinking, drugging, smoking pot, or illegal possession of pot and controlled substances. And please. Do NOT tell me the police know nothing about those houses in the Hollywood Hills that are used for private drug parties! Paris has both attended and has given. She has been out driving under the influence many times, she has been out without her license, her entire life style has been thumbing her nose at the police. It is ironic this guy is defending her!!!! I wonder how much it cost the Hiltons to buy his "justice."

38. get that spoiled little piglet bag in the slammer.... if my guess is correct all that's wrong with her medically is that she's detoxing from whatever she's been putting into her system at home, now the sheriff's dept let her go home and get her fix.... so dissapointing :( . get her back to jail where she can clean up and really learn to be who she is..... then let her back into society.... Isn't that also what incarceration is supposed to be all about, not just punishing someone.

44. Maria - Good question. Don't think it matters though. The only thing that matters to her right now is getting out of the situation at hand. If we had a judicial system that was semi-consistent we obviously wouldn't be here right now.
