An Open Letter from a Paris BFF

Paris Hilton, Frankie Muniz, Jennifer RoveroThe following is a letter from one of Paris Hilton's best friends:

I would like to address the media regarding one of my dearest friends, Paris Hilton. I have been by her side up until she turned herself over to authorities and the last 24 hours since being put on probation. I was also
in the courtroom [yesterday] and saw a judge hand down a sentence that NO ONE in an even remotely similar position would receive!

Sheriff Baca is coming from a place of knowledge with regard to his prisons and his prisoners well-being. We should trust in him. He is a stand up man who was voted into office. He was not being generous. He was being practical and just, and speaking from years of experience on the front lines of L.A. justice. It's clear as day that her stay has impacted her greatly.

She is a forever changed woman.

The MTV Movie Awards was merely a diversion to be able to surrender in privacy and not stir up any commotion. PERIOD. Jail was on her mind, NOT a celebration!

Also, I would like to set the record straight that there was no party in motion for this weekend. When she was released she was still very upset, to the point of being physically ill -- and partying was the furthest thing from her mind. She is a loving and sweet soul with a big heart whose character has been misjudged because she was born into a family of wealth and, yes privilege. Now, I ask you to please stop for a moment and try to analyze why it is that you are so troubled by her?

Paris HiltonSurely there is a more just way that she can atone for what she has done and not for who she is.

Sincerely,

Jennifer Rovero

1036. Like someone said earlier......she's a racist, coked out, pot smoking, drunk. that thinks she is above everything and everyone. She literally pushed her way into the spotlight- there is video footage to prove this, and is famous for nothing. Who cares if she's a Hilton? There are plenty of other young, pretty, thin, rich females out there that are not in the tabloids every week (because they are using their status in life to better themselves and others). If you were such a good friend then you would help her realize this and get her on the right path. She's a little to old for some of the things that she does- and it's all starting to show.... on her face.

1037. LOL..so she went to the MTV AWARDS to divert attention and not stir things up? This shows just what an idiot she is. Please, she couldn't even stay away from the cameras for one night; and NOW she's asking for privacy!? Sorry. no sympathy for the Highness Hilton.

1039. This spoiled uneducated brat got exactly what she deserved. Her parents should be serving with her for the way that she was brought up, i.e., she is a product of her environment.

1041. Kind, loving, sweet souls do not drive drunk, nor do they speed with out headlights on when they don't have a valid drivers license. She could have it and killed or seriously injured someone. Responsible, wonderful people as your portrayed her to be, are respectful to authority. They go to court on time and when expected. They demonstrate remorse for the things they do wrong. This little girl needs to step into the real world because the laws of the real world apply to her. She just doesn't know how to accept consequences...... yet.

1042. Jennifer,

As a preface to this reply to your comment, I'm going to presume that you haven't been to law school or have even the slightest comprehension of anything related to matters of law. I'm also going to remind you that Paris Hilton has broken the laws of California (on more than one occasion) and accordingly was appropriately sentenced within guidelines established by the state of California. With regard to Sheriff Baca, he was not being "practical and just" as you stated in your letter - he also broke the law by violating a direct court order - the phrase "No Electonic Monitoring" was written by the judge on Paris' sentencing order and the sheriff improperly and blatantly ignored that. That is why Paris is back in jail - because Sheriff Baca screwed up, plain and simple. It's very ironic that it wasn't her fault that she was sent back to jail - but she should have not been released in the first place.

Paris has not been singled-out as a celebrity, she has been treated just like everyone else. Paris made some mistakes that initiated a legal chain of events that neither she, nor her parents and their considerable financial resources and personal reputations could stop - that chain of events is called administration of justice and due process - they are two of the basic tenets of the democratic society in which we live. This whole experience should be viewied by Paris as one of the greatest learning lessons she will ever experience in her life - and hopefully she will never have to experience it again.

As a point of reference, Martha Stewart also was not singled-out as a celebrity - she was charged and convicted by a jury for far more serious crimes and she served significantly more time than Paris - and her effort at appeal was unsuccessful. Martha accepted her sentence and served her time with grace and humility. Like Martha, Paris wants to present herself to the public as a role-model for young women, yet her behavior in the courtroom on Friday (crying, screaming and shaking) was the behavior of a child, and not the self-assured, mature young woman she wants us to believe she is.

If you are truly her friend, then support her by respecting her privacy instead of making unnecessary public statements that don't help the matter - they just create more drama and further antagonize an already difficult situation.

Regards,

Millard

1043. "A friend for Paris" is a true Christian.

We all need to be less hateful and more forgiving. Of course Paris can't handle jail, having grown up so privileged through no fault of her own. She's been punished enough.

1044. Well, bestest buddy of miss Paris, we are botherered by her for many reasons. We are bothered because she became famous because of night-vision camcorders. We are bothered because she continues to be famous because she knows how to pose, speak in sound bytes, flash the cameras, and hang out with other famous people, and that's it. We are bothered by Paris Hilton because she has made stupidity not only acceptable, but trendy. We are bothered because little girls see her and think her behavior is acceptable. And most of all, we are bothered by Paris Hilton because she honestly and truly believes that she is above the law, and is being treated unfairly.
I think that you are bothered by the media attention and the outpouring of negative attention because this case is setting a precedent for other celebrity misbehaving. If she can go to jail for breaking the law, then so can any other famous (or semi-famous, in your case) people. Down here on the ground, all of us normal people know that if we drive drunk, we pay the price. And if we drive on a suspended license, we go to jail. It's a given for us. It should be for her too, and for every other celebrity who thinks they're above the law. She's not getting our sympathy for paying for her crimes.
Do you want to help Paris, dear friend? Tell her to stay home some weekend, or to wear underwear under those mirco-minis. Tell her to take a course or two at the community college. Take her to a soup kitchen or a shelter for battered women, have her volunteer. It could be a good bonding exercise for the two of you. Most of all, BFF, help her grow up and realize that she's merely human, because it appears that even with all of this, she'll still never learn.

1045. What a crock. You have no idea what you’re talking about. You and Paris live in such a fantasy world, that you have no idea, what the real world is like. I know about the DUI process. For I was arrested and taken to jail, and had to stay there until I saw the judge the next day, from a televised link to the jail from the courthouse. I was in a room with thieves; other DUI’s and even one person who was arrested for first degree murder. Then I had to wait for someone to bail me out. Unlike you and Paris, I didn't get a free ride home and a slap on the wrist. If you can't do the time, then don't do the crime. But please know what the heck what you’re talking about. It infuriates people like me, knowing that you are pampered so much, and you think you deserve it.

1046. Hey hard core blues.... you are not to far from being ignorant... if you do not know the facts don't write your BS on here... it is obvious you are a cold hearted sob and have nothing better to do than to bash people. Go get a life and maybe you might not feel so frustrated with your life... I am truly sorry you have to cling to someones misfortunes to be heard and feel important.
I am here cause I believe everyone has a good side and I look for the good in people... and if Jennifer Rovero stood up for her friend, with correct grammar or not she is more of a human being and a better person that you will ever be.
I fortunately know both ladies and can tell you Jennifer does not need the publicity at all she is very successful and a happy strong individual who has courage and dignity to stand up for her friend... the world needs more people like her and less people like you.
If you have nothing good to say than don't say anything at all... education, and grammar might be learned from books but life is learned from experience and I am sure as hell you can't throw the first stone so don't judge unless you have the facts... remember the Lord will forgive you and your sins when your time comes... so who are you to judge anyone.

1047. Why did you say that Paris Hilton is racist ? Was there a recorded interview on this ? Any videoclip ?

I was completely OUTRAGED for her "reassignment to house arrest". First I was outraged that her 2 hours in Sunday, is considered as ONE DAY. Then the 2 hours she spent on Thursday before she was "reassigned to house arrest" was considered a full day in jail, too. WHAT kind of MATH is that ? Will that kind of definition of ONE DAY in JAIL going to be redefined anytime soon ? Can incarcerations also be defined in number of hours spend in jail , other than number of days ?

I am just wondering, are people who were sentenced to jail, also given up some free time before getting themselves "checked in" the jail ? Because if yes, I suppose, everyone going to jail, will start checking in from two hours to two minutes before midnight, and will also ask to be released from 2 minutes up to 2 hours after midnight, since those number of hours constitute ONE DAY in jail, anyway.

1048. I personally think Paris Hilton got less than what she deserved. I recall seeing her in a shirt that said, "I'm Paris Hilton I can do what I want." Some times our attitude can cause us to do things, regardless of who we are, that we don't like or didn't choose to do. In this case Paris was doing exactly what she wanted to do, even if that was breaking the law. She has no talent, a nose that reminds me of Jimmy Durante, and all in all she is riding through Hollywood on wealth certainly not talent. Her parents should be ashamed for giving her the money to use the way she uses it. Apparently to buy booze, drugs and hurt others. I have no mercy for her, and think she should spend more time in jail. If she has psycological problems she brought them on herself. She is more than a train wreck, her looks and her attitude would make a train take a dirt road. I think about Paris Hilton the same as I do about Britney Spears. Both their parents made them believe that they had talent and could basically take the world by whirlwind. WRONG! Paris is controlling and stupid. She needs to be put in with the population instead of a private cell. Perhaps those women in the prison would teach her how to act in public. Do I think she learned anything from this experience. No!!!! She will be back on the streets of LA as soon as she is released doing the same things she did before, drinking, sleeping around and being the raciest, ugly person she was before jail. With all that money, why don't she get a nose job?

1049. Does anybody really care about her? she is nobody. Not an actor (playing in the sheakspeare plays). Not a singer (Maria Callas). No pretty either (an eagle nose). So avarage Joe. Who pays for all that ad. And she is not very smart either (Britney Spears). Just another wannabe.

1050. Raca said, "This lady doesn't deserve any of this". Is this why he ignored the judges order for 23 or 45
days and instead let Paris go home wearing a bracelet? I feel so sorry for the inmates in his County
Jail. I really do. Clearly, this poor excuse for a Sheriff has just proven that there ARE indeed two tiers
of justice in this country. One for the rich and famous (Himself as King of the throne), and one tier
for all the "other" people he is forced to be around.

I wish this individual would lose his job one day. I wish that there be a giant turnout for a vote against
him and all by the middle class and poor. He deserves it.

So what's in the future for ole Lee and Paris? Well, take notice of the fact that little Paris has said in
her "statement" that she's told her attorney NOT to file the appeal. She says she intends to serve her
time. Now, look at what I said again. Suppose you got a visit from Lee baby and he tells you that he's
gonna make sure that you get out in a few days because of the l0% rule and because of good behavior.
If this is the case, no one could find poor little Paris at fault cause after all, she told the world that she
was not going to file an appeal and she told the world that she was going to serve her time--WHY FILE
AN APPEAL, PARIS, WHEN YOU AND YOUR ATTORNEY ALREADY KNOW THAT YOURE GOING
TO BE RELEASED? OF COURSE YOU CAN SAY YOURE GOING TO SERVE YOUR TIME, PARIS,
WHEN YOU PERSONALLY KNOW THAT ON DAY 8 OR TEN OF YOUR INCARCERATION, YOURE
GOING TO GET OUT. YEAH, YOURE GOING TO SERVE YOUR 45 DAYS, SURE. MAKE EVERYBODY
THINK YOU ARE.

WHO'LL BE TO BLAME IF PARIS IS LET GO AND THE MEDIA SAYS SHE DID WHAT SHE DID IN
THE BEGINNING BECAUSE OF AN UNDIAGNOSED AND UNTREATED ILLNESS? CAN'T ARGUE
WITH THAT. SO PARIS IS INNOCENT AND SHE WILL GO FREE.

How many inmates suffer from Bi Polar Disease or Anxiety or Panic Attacks to name a few? John Gotti
suffered from Cancer and yet he stayed in jail. Paris should receive medication and stay where she
is.

Lee Raca is the poorest form of a Sheriff Ive ever heard of. He prefers celebrities and he gives them
preferential treatment as though they were royalty and the rest of his inmates were not.
