It didn't go down at the jail -- TMZ was there when Paris Hilton turned herself in to Sheriff's authorities on Sunday night. Paris' mega-lawyer, Richard Hutton, picked her up at her parents' house at 10:30 PM.

The squad car was then swarmed by aggressive paparazzi vying for a shot of the troubled heiress, who gave chase as far as they could.

A highly emotional Kathy and Rick Hilton left Los Angeles County Superior Court, thronged by reporters and photogs.

16. Thakful for our liberties?!?! Are you kidding me?
You guys don't even realize that over the years George W Bush has been
taking away more and more of our civil liberties...The Patriot Act, The Military
Commissions Act 2006 - allowing torture and reversing habeas corpus, etc.
You better wake up, because one day you will realize that we are slowly
becoming a police state society, wherein the President rules as a King or a
dictator.

17. Hey Thats really not fare on her! She's having a really tought time and the papparazzi are just making it worse. And if you look at the actually "Law" behind it, the basic jist is "photographer's may take photo and video documents as long as it does not harbour the day-to-day life of the person in question or those around them." Eh, dont think they understand that....

19. I do think she got what she deserves.
I know a lot of people want to just see her in jail b/c they hate her, but that isn't the case with me. I want to know the justice system works and with her it did. She violated probation twice while driving drunk. She broke the law 3 times.
She never went for driver education either.
And, just because some other people got off scott free for bigger crimes doesn't make it right for them either. Also, this was up to the judge's discretion and he made his judgement.
I do pity her, honestly. But the girl needs to respect the law and serve her time. No more feeding into her delusions of being a victim. It looks like her parents are still believing that she was treated unfairly and that won't teach her.
Public opinion is separate from law, or should be. This case was tried on pure legality. The only people talking in her defense are high profile defense attorneys who want more celebrities to hire them and get them off easy, so watch where you get your info from.

20. I am well aware of what Bush has been up to. But the fact is that today, 6/9/07 we can still get up and shower in our own home, drive our car to Starbucks, and go shopping at the mall.
Hopefully, the next president, who we have the freedom to elect, will rescind the intrussions Bush was implemented.
HEY, I DIDN'T VOTE FOR HIM, ....LOL

21. At the end of the day, SHE BROKE THE LAW. She should have thought about it when she was arrested and cited the second time she was driving with a suspended license. The mere fact that she was lucky to not KILL an innocent bystander tells me this punishment will make her realize she is ULTIMATELY responsible for her actions, not her publicist, her parents, and her attorney.
NEGLIGENCE is not an excuse. Suck it up and own up to your immature behavior!

23. eddie #23 -

You are threatening the life of a man who is doing his job? Over gutter trash like Paris??
I am reporting you to the authorities as well as TMZ (YES THEY DO HAVE YOUR IP ADDRESS LOGGED). You don't throw out death threats to ANYONE by any MEANS.

I encourage everyone else to report this person too, these kind of threats are not to be taken lightly in this day and age.

25. Paris had every chance to avoid jail but she didn't think she would ever be held accountable like "regular" people. Time for her to put on her "big girl thong" and stand up like a woman and take her punishment.

26. The entire drama that unfolded in my own neighborhood yesterday morning was unbelieveable and, when I found out the details of the judge and the LA Sheriff completely screwing this thing up, I am outraged at the treatment of this girl. The LA Sheriff's department released Paris Hilton the same way they release all other peoele who are in similar situation has she was - after 2 or 3 days of serving time they are released to house arrest (if that). The jails are overcrowded and to spend money to put someone like PAris Hilton inside a jail cell for not commiting a serious offense is laughable. Paris Hilton did NOT have her lawyers get her released and she was NOT given any special treatment. If you remember she reported EARLY to begin her sentence and was completely composed when she entered the jail. It's the fact the Sherifff and the Judge screwed everythng up and continued to have internal argements that got her stuck in the middle of the spot she is in. This is NOT her fault. She was released because of a medical condition and then thrown back into jail (but not before being humiliated before the entire World). Paris Hilton did NOT kill anyone. She did not deserve to be treated like a common murderer and the judge in this case obviously has nothing but contempt for the Hilton family. To make her serve more time than he would an average person is reverse discrimination and he should be removed from the bench. My thought is have the judge serve out her time. He is stupid to have given her such a harsh sentence in the first place. Paris Hilton is a spoiled, pampered, rich kid who grew up to become a spoiled, pampered, rich adult. She is very attractive and very wealthy. Most people dislike her and are tired of her. But if you think about it - it has to hurt to be born into wealth and grow up not knowing what it's like to be "normal." She has everything; yet she has nothing. I hope this pushes her to not waste the celebrity status she has because she could do a lot of good with her position in life. Paris Hilton the party girl should grow up and become Paris Hilton the young lady who moves into feature films as a serious actress, or an author who can write a book that might help others. IF she ends up writing a book about this experience, she could really come out a better person by donating all proceeds from the book to MADD or another alcohol related organization that wants to help. This alone would help her gain repect from most of the people in the world. This is something that happened to her for a reason. She needs to find out what that reason is and act upon it to help others.

27. #32 If she had not violated the terms of her parole she wouldn't be in this mess, so before you go blaming any judge you had better look at Paris herself. She had every opportutunity to avoid jail. Not once, but twice she drove without her license. A DUI is not something that should be taken lightly. She could have killed someone or herself while under the influence. The last time she was stopped she was going 70mph with no headlights on plus no license all you seem to think this is okay? You say she didn't kill anyone? She hadn't killed anyone YET! Cars can be a lethal weapon when the person behind the wheel is drunk or driving reckless.

I agee with poster 34 she needs to take her punishment like the big girl she is. Is the punishment unfair? I don't think so. She thumbed her nose at the judical system one too many time and it was just thumbed back at her.

28. lisa m -

You can't totally blame her parents or her upbringing. She faced the judge more than once with explicit instructions given to her face to face. Asked if she understood them, she said YES. She did what she wanted anyway. She was not alone when this happened either - quite a few witnesses that saw her reply YES to each and every question - including family!

She are we to now concluded she is retarded or defiant? Judging by her hissy fit in court yesterday, I'd say defiant. Paris thinks she can do as she pleases because she has money.

29. Paris...... you know what was going to happen..... it was given.... that judge was way too biased, and he had only one thing for you - jail. He is enjoying all the attention that he gets out of it. I LOVE YOU PARIS!!!!!! Please be strong..... I'm thinking about you! You shouldn't be treated so harshly for the saole reason that you are a celebrity! That's garbage! Don't worry, when you get out, we'll all be here for you! I LOVE YOU!!!!!! The LA judicial system sucks, as do all courts!
