Paris Hilton is "teetering on the brink."

Law enforcement sources have told TMZ that Hilton has been crying a lot, praying and extremely withdrawn.

Hilton is in the medical ward at Twin Towers, an L.A. County jail facility. She is in a room by herself with a glass door. For her protection, a sergeant guards the door at all times.

We're told Hilton hasn't eaten or slept since she arrived yesterday.

Sources have described her condition today as "fragile" and "despondent." One source called her "a train wreck" while another said she is "sullen and withdrawn."

We've learned her shrink, Dr. Charles Sophy, spent more than two hours with her this morning. Hilton's family can't visit today. In the medical ward, families can only visit on Sundays and Tuesdays.

We're told Hilton is receiving "appropriate medical attention." We're told she's being given psychotropic medication.

48. I agree with Amie--her parents are a joke! This is probably the first time someone ever said No to her. She needs to get over it and take it like a woman not a whinny little spoiled kid!

54. has anyone forgotten why she was put in jail in the first place?? She was driving drunk, got her licence suspended then CONTINUED to drive. How many times have we seen her driving. When you ignore your probation there is a penalty to pay. The only remorse Paris has is she is in jail. If that was anyone else, the penalty would be much harsher. She is NOT a first time offender, she broke her probation 2x's. I'm sorry if she feels bad for being in jail but when you break the law you pay the penalty. I'm sure the other inmates hate being inthere as well but one thing tjhey all have in common.....THEY BROKE THE LAW!!!!!!!!

Just remember, in one month she's going to be tanning in her summer house in front of clear water; or maybe relaxing in her yacht! :D

57. Me thinks this "Media Whore" is sorry she ever posed in front of the papparrazzi cameras and pronounced "that's hot"! Now she's having to "Pay the Pimple" with all this negative publicity.

Don't think this is for real - she's practicing for an "Oscar" when she gets out!

This dumb bunny seemed quite healthy at all her red carpets, interviews, clubbing, shopping - course the driving did her in!

Typical example of 72hr drug withdrawals added together with self-induced anxiety attacks, rampant outbreak of herpes from self-induced anxiety attacks.

Actually - I had no problem with her house arrest with the exception of courts no control over:

home parties, alcohol, drugs, media interviews.

I say let her out, give her a snoot full, put her behind the wheel of her Bentley and aim her at Dina Lohan!
