Paris Hilton has issued the following statement:
"Today I told my attorneys not to appeal the judge's decision. While I greatly appreciate the Sheriff's concern for my health and welfare, after meeting with doctors I intend to serve my time as ordered by the judge.
This is by far the hardest thing I have ever done. During the past several days, I have had a lot of time to reflect and have already learned a bitter, but important lesson from this experience.
As I have said before, I hope others will learn from my mistake. I have also had time to read the mail from my fans. I very much appreciate all of their good wishes and hope they will keep their letters coming.
I must also say that I was shocked to see all of the attention devoted to the amount of time I would spend in jail for what I had done by the media, public and city officials. I would hope going forward that the public and the media will focus on more important things, like the men and women serving our country in Iraq, Afghanistan and other places around the world."

Come on, she did not write that. She doesn't even know about Iraq or Afganistan... pluuuueease
I admire Paris' statement. I believe her when she says that she has had time to reflect and I believe we will see a better, more responsible socialite when she returns to normal society. Best Wishes Paris, don't let us down!
Hilton is a whining spoiled little rich girl and an object of contempt.
Who wrote this? Not Paris.
Maybe she has learned a lesson.
The second bit made me laugh though, as I am pretty sure she has courted the attention of the media and the public prior to this.
dear paris, if it doesn't kill you, it will make you stronger....you've turned a huge corner in leaving the girl paris behind and becoming the woman paris you are destined to become...be a positive role model...so many young girls look up to you....good luck...stay strong....find your inner happy place...
While I am not anti-Paris or for Paris, she should have done this from the beginning like she said in the first place. Look at all the chaos it has caused. I'm glad she is now going to do it for real - and if she doesn't, she is going to lose a lot of respect from a LOT of people....most people, me included.
This letter was too good to be written by someone of Paris' intelligence. I sure it was written by her lawyers or someone else with a brain bigger than Paris. Then again, that doesnt exactly narrow the field very much!!
Shouldn't this say that it is a statement issued on her behalf from her attorney? We all know that Paris didn't write or think any of those words. Especially since she is despondent, on teetering on the brink and has eaten or slept! She would be the first to jump outta her psych ward bed and strike pose once hair and make up showed up.
After her MTV statement. Who believes a word that comes out her mouth.
Nice try, but it's not working.
I never thought I'd say this, but bravo, Paris. Way to be an adult.
I wonder when she will reveal the bitter lesson that she learned.
