Celebrity Justice
Paris Won't Appeal

Paris HiltonParis Hilton has issued the following statement:

"Today I told my attorneys not to appeal the judge's decision. While I greatly appreciate the Sheriff's concern for my health and welfare, after meeting with doctors I intend to serve my time as ordered by the judge.

This is by far the hardest thing I have ever done. During the past several days, I have had a lot of time to reflect and have already learned a bitter, but important lesson from this experience.

As I have said before, I hope others will learn from my mistake. I have also had time to read the mail from my fans. I very much appreciate all of their good wishes and hope they will keep their letters coming.

I must also say that I was shocked to see all of the attention devoted to the amount of time I would spend in jail for what I had done by the media, public and city officials. I would hope going forward that the public and the media will focus on more important things, like the men and women serving our country in Iraq, Afghanistan and other places around the world."

16. While I am not anti-Paris or for Paris, she should have done this from the beginning like she said in the first place. Look at all the chaos it has caused. I'm glad she is now going to do it for real - and if she doesn't, she is going to lose a lot of respect from a LOT of people....most people, me included.

23. Shouldn't this say that it is a statement issued on her behalf from her attorney? We all know that Paris didn't write or think any of those words. Especially since she is despondent, on teetering on the brink and has eaten or slept! She would be the first to jump outta her psych ward bed and strike pose once hair and make up showed up.

After her MTV statement. Who believes a word that comes out her mouth.

Nice try, but it's not working.

24. wow, she sounds pretty coherent for someone who was allegedly 'teetering on the brink'... not much of a brink then.... only a little teeter....

27. This is so degrading. The village idiot allowed herself to have a prison record. Frightful. My father is the grandson of a well-known east coast banking family and none of us would be allowed to act like Paris. Paris has said on tape that “poor people” are beneath her. Well, to most of us with class and breeding, having a prison record is beneath our social circles. Paris and the HIlton family are really icky. Money doesn’t buy class and breeding, Paris darling.

30. If she is so worried about the troops, maybe she should serve her 45 days in Iraq...the Iraqi insurgents will be begging to get sent to abu gharib!!!!
