Pari$ Hilton Costs L.A. County a Bundle

6/11/2007 2:55 PM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

ParisIt costs more than 10 times the normal amount to jail Paris Hilton.

TMZ contacted the Sheriff's Department to determine just how much money the County is spending on Hilton -- and it's way more than it costs to stay at a Hilton!

Sheriff's spokesperson Steve Whitmore tells TMZ the average cost per day for a female inmate is $99.64. Paris, well, ain't no bargain. It costs $1,109.78 to keep her locked up. The costs include medical treatment and staff associated with her needs.

By the way, if Hilton were under house arrest, it would cost taxpayers zilch. The inmate shells out the cost of doing time at home.

You all are actually going to believe what the sheriff says it costs? Get her off the meds. There are obviously other women in there who she plays ping-pong with, so if the state is paying for them, Parasite shouldn't cost more. Get her out of the big, four-man cell, so 3 other people can benefit from the space. Treat her like anyone else and the cost goes down. She is talking like she should be well enough to go back to the real jail. This is just a load of crap with the poll to give Levin something to say on King that will show that the public thinks it isn't fair. I guarantee you the numbers are off on this. If she is eating, wearing, and sleeping like everyone else in there, that is. If not, BLAME THE SHERIFF!!!

Shameful for TMZ to put a "money spin" on this farce, noting that the taxpayers should be relieved if Paris is released to home confinement. If Paris' sentence costs the State of
California the equivalent of $23,000.00 +, so be it. They appear to be counting nine days at this point which would involve 6-3 through 6-11, with credit for last Sunday and today - leaving a comparably short time to be served. All of this nonsense could have been avoided, but only with Hilton's compliance with court orders. The blame is hers alone. TMZ appears to be looking for support in its efforts to diefy Hilton. Look elsewhere.

Well Harvey, is if it's too expensive the have PARIS locked up - then shouldnt it be too expensive to have the OTHER IMATES locked up? Should they all go free?

You seem to forget the reason she is there - DUI! The court found her irresponsible and a threat to society. That is why she is where she is.

Whats wrong Harvey? Not getting the Hilton paycheck while she is in jail?

To all of you who say that she doesn't get the same treatment, you are absolutely correct!! Anyone else in this situation would not have spent this long in jail.

I just think it's worth it - and I think the cost for any mental patient is the same. If it's that bad toss her in with the regular cons!

If she were being treated like everyone else then the price tag would be the same right?

There are inmates at LA County Jail that actually have severe mental problems and have no business being in jail.

Go To: You Tube ~ Mentally ill in Jail.

It's a video of the mentally ill in jail in Los Angeles ~ it is in spanish but has sub-titles. Nows these are the people that have no business being in jail. California has made so many cuts in the mental health programs that there's no place for these people but jail.

...and I want to know, if Paris is so severly mentally ill and on needed medication what's she even doing with a driver's license!

#2 - Farrah Fallon is a flake! What kind of ludes are you on anyway? Paris Brave? She was dragged out of the court room kicking and screaming!. You don't understand why? Because she's got a horrible track record for being MEAN herself! That's all I read of your long winding piece of crap email.

Hey, I'm miffed by a comment Mr. People Court man himself (Harvey Levin) said on the Today show. He said he didn't value the comments left on his website because "a certain type of person" comments on TMZ.com. WHAT?!?!?!? Is he high?

Let me ask you all 1 thing:

If regular people had to wait 2-4 hours to see their imprisoned loved ones while the Hilton ugly sluts #2 & #3 reunited, (& that's not preferential treatment? playing ping-pong & using your cell phone in jail, & making sure you stayed in the medical ward AFTER 'recuperating'???)

WHY DIDN'T THE WAYYYY TOO PATIENT CROWD BOOO THE HILTON VISITORS AS THEY WALKED OUT???? I WOULD'VE B!TCHED & COMPLAINED IF I HAD TO WAIT THAT LONG FOR 2-BIT HO'S LIKE THAT.

I WAS HOPING THE CROWD WASN'T INTIMIDATED BY THE SHERIFFS, COPS ETC...OR, WERE THEY??? SURE WOULD LIKE TO KNOW.

SEND HER BACK TO THE REGULAR JAIL & OUT OF THE MEDICAL WARD, & IT WON'T COST TAXPAYERS AS MUCH; PLUS, SOLICIT HILTONS & HILTON CORP FOR DONATION TO MAKE UP THE COST DIFFERENCE. THEIR STOCKHOLDERS WOULD APPRECIATE IT...AFTER ALL THE BAD PRESS GLOBALLY BROUGHT ON BY PH, HILTON UGLY SLUT #3.

Sorry, but it's worth it, if Paris comes out a better person and not so darn spoil and realizes you shouldn't drink and drive than it's worth it. Maybe this experience will change her. Enough with the pathetic whining lol!

Hey Harvey! What a great idea - we should all have house arrest available to us when we serve time. Think of the money it would save! To say that Paris is costing too much is pretty much a red herring. She is costing so much because she is getting treatment that I wouldn't get. And to say she is serving an extreme sentence because of her noterity is just plain false. Please see the LA Times article: http://www.latimes.com/news/local/la-me-inmates9jun09,1,4458829.story?ctrack=2&cset=true whichs has interviews with imates who were jailed for the exact same violation as Paris, and they were handed and served a longer sentence. No doubt they couldn't keep thier cell phone much less call Barbara Walters.

Baca, Levin and Hilton show that they are out to protect the status quo when it comes to unfair jail times.

I don't understand why the Hiltons don't have to reimburse the city for all this extra cost.

Oh and Harvey? You suck. You're just being stupid about this.
